Clever&Clean AQUA-Series 03

Clever&Clean is one of the first companies to launch sales of robotic vacuum cleaners in the CIS market. Their model AQUA-Series 01 For a long time, it was considered the most effective wet cleaning robot in its class. According to customer reviews, it remains one of the best robots. Because progress never stands still and it's important to keep up with the times, the updated Clever&Clean AQUA-Series 03 robot vacuum cleaner was released in 2019, adding more functionality, including mobile app control. In this review, we'll explore the features and capabilities of this robot and summarize its overall performance.
Equipment
First, let's talk about what's included in the standard package. The box contains the following items:
- The robot vacuum cleaner itself.
- Charging station with power adapter.
- Wet cleaning nozzle and 2 microfibers.
- Remote control.
- HEPA filter.
- 4 side brushes.
- Motion limiter – magnetic tape.
- Dust collector.
- Two replaceable attachments: suction hole and turbo brush.
- Operating instructions.
- Warranty card.
The kit is quite complete, it has all the necessary parts and even spare ones.
Appearance
The robot vacuum's body is dark—a dark gray metallic, to be precise. It looks stylish and uncluttered. On top are touch-sensitive buttons for controlling the robot, a display, and a lid that houses the dust container. The brand's logo, positioned near the center, completes the look.
It's important to note that the top of the body has no protrusions, preventing the robot from getting stuck under furniture. However, elevated structural elements can sometimes be a problem, as the sensors are located on the top edge of the bumper, which in turn determines the robot's reach. If the sensor is located lower, anything higher can become stuck. This model's design prevents it from getting stuck under furniture.
From the side, the robot looks standard: a soft-touch, movable bumper is mounted on the front. It houses spatial orientation sensors (ultrasonic and infrared). On the side, also in keeping with the classic design, is the power button, housed in a dust- and moisture-resistant case. Ventilation holes are located on the rear.
Turning the robot vacuum upside down reveals two side brushes, a rotating roller, and a central brush with bristles and petals. Also located here are the contacts for docking with the base, the wheels, and the attachment area for the wet cleaning tool.
Incidentally, the robot's suspension is designed in such a way that it can overcome obstacles up to 15 mm high, while the microfiber remains firmly attached to the floor during wet cleaning.
Technical specifications
Let's move on to more important information and consider the main characteristics of Clever&Clean AQUA-Series 03, which are summarized in the table:
| Type of cleaning | Dry and wet |
| Battery | Li-ion, 2200 mAh, 14.4 V |
| Battery life | Up to 100 min |
| Charging time | 180 min |
| Dust collector capacity | 0.5 l |
| Cleaning area | 100 sq.m. |
| Suction power | 1200/1800 Pa |
| Dimensions | 34*34*9 cm |
| Weight | 3.5 kg |
| Noise level | 55 dB in normal mode, 70 dB in Turbo |
Overall, the specifications are fairly standard, with the only notable feature being the increased suction power in turbo mode. This power is sufficient even for low-pile carpets.
Functional capabilities
So, the first thing to note is that the Clever&Clean AQUA-Series 03 is a versatile robot vacuum cleaner, as it's not only suitable for dry and wet cleaning, but also comes with or without a turbo brush (the attachments are interchangeable). This is a very clever design idea, as many buyers will appreciate it. choosing a robot vacuum cleaner can't decide whether they need a central brush or not.
If you have pets and, therefore, a lot of hair, it's best to install a turbo brush; it effectively collects sand, hair, and fur. If you don't have pets and don't mind constantly cleaning the brush, you can remove it, leaving the suction hole and two side brushes to sweep up debris.
Another important point is that this robot vacuum cleaner creates a map of the room and displays it in real time in the company's own mobile app. And here's where it's important to elaborate. Thanks to its gyroscope, the Clever&Clean AQUA-Series 03 creates an optimal navigation algorithm, minimizing contact with obstacles along the way. The gyroscope itself was developed by the Japanese company SEIKO EPSON Corporation; it's one of the manufacturer's best chips.
You can connect the robot vacuum cleaner to the app via Wi-Fi. The app itself is available for download on both Android and iOS (search for C&C AQUA-S in the Market). The app offers the following features:
- Setting up a cleaning schedule by days of the week.
- Remembering previous work cycles.
- By creating and storing a cleaning map, you can track where the robot has already cleaned.
- Movement control (stop, return to base).
- Robot configuration (enabling/disabling voice guidance, etc.).
- Reporting job status, logging error messages.
When it comes to the functionality of the robot vacuum cleaner itself, the following important details can be noted:
- Thanks to its built-in sensors, the AQUA-Series 03 is able to identify particularly dirty areas of the floor for more thorough cleaning.
- Voice notifications about work status in Russian (in a pleasant female voice).
- Automatic water supply to the cloth during wet cleaning.
- Double air filtration system (pre-filter + HEPA filter), which means that suction power does not drop as much during operation.
Overall, the model performed quite well. It features all the necessary features to maintain a clean apartment or house. Moreover, the price is quite affordable – $219 in 2019. Considering the brand's reliability, cleaning quality, and warranty coverage, it's one of the best all-around robot vacuums on the market.
Operating instructions
The manufacturer includes a Russian-language manual. It describes the robot's specifications and functionality, operating instructions, and maintenance instructions. It also covers typical model malfunctions and how to troubleshoot them yourself.

Advantages and disadvantages
So, let's highlight the main pros and cons of this robot vacuum cleaner. Among the advantages, we can highlight:
- Versatility.
- Affordable price.
- Work via mobile application.
- Availability of smart navigation, the ability to create a map of the premises.
- High suction power.
- Warranty service is available.
- Full wet cleaning.
We didn't find any particular downsides, even after testing it. While there's no lidar or camera, our tests showed no complaints about the navigation, and the price is different. Non-Chinese equivalents with advanced navigation cost $300 and up, but in this case, the manufacturer made sure the price was affordable for the average person. Otherwise, there are no complaints about the cleaning quality or the robot's build quality; everything is reliable, in keeping with the best traditions of Clever&Clean.
We recommend watching a video review of the model with unboxing and dry/wet cleaning test:
Incidentally, this model has taken a leading position in the budget segment; our updated rating is available in video format:

Good afternoon
Given the choice between the Genio Deluxe 500 and Clever and Clean Aqua 3, which would you choose? Thank you!
Hello! I would choose Clover!
Hello! I carefully read everything about this vacuum cleaner model and still don't understand it.
In the advantages and disadvantages section, it says the vacuum has smart navigation and room mapping, but then at the end you write, "Yes, it's safe to say there's no lidar or camera." How does it map the room? I believe this is an important feature for high-quality cleaning, and I'm looking for a vacuum with this feature, but at 30 rubles, the price is steep. I've settled on this model for now. Please advise.
Hello, Natalia! This is all accomplished using a gyroscope, which is responsible for spatial orientation and route planning. A gyroscope is inferior to lidar, but some $200-$300 models don't even include one, and even those that do, it's not always a good one. It all depends on the area the robot vacuum will be cleaning and how many rooms it has. This model is suitable for cleaning several rooms in a single cycle, but if you have a large apartment or a private house, spatial orientation may be an issue. Lidar, on the other hand, is more likely to handle this.
Thank you for your consultation. Please spare a little more of your time. I have a simple studio apartment, no thresholds, rugs, or pets, up to 50 square meters. (I could clean it myself, but I'm lazy, the driving force behind progress.) Many models would suit me, but I'm looking for one that's reliable and high-quality. I'm also considering the HOBOT Legee 668; the price difference is negligible, but I'm hesitant. I look forward to your recommendation.
In such a space, especially in a studio, there won't be any problems with the Klever at all. I can't comment on the Khobot; reviews are mixed, with both good and bad. I haven't tested it personally, but I spent several days with the Klever, testing it in various conditions. I'd choose it, especially since it's cheaper.
Thank you very much, I love professionals.
Hello!
Choosing between the iBoto Smart Aqua x610g, Gutrend Smart 300, and Clever&Clean Aqua 03
The wet cleaning function is very important for a 95 m2 apartment without carpets.
Which of these models would you recommend and why?
Also, please tell me the volume of the water container for Clever&Clean Aqua 03, I couldn’t find the information anywhere.
Hello! I'm also having trouble choosing. I'm interested in the Clever & Clean AQUA-Series 03. Can you tell me if it can be used for wet and dry cleaning? And how does it clean dark floors, especially if the tiles are black and there's a dark carpet underneath? According to reviews, many vacuum cleaners don't clean on subfloors.
I read in one review that the HEPA filter is washable. Is this true, or am I mistaken?
Could you please advise me which one to choose: Clever & Clean AQUA-Series 03 or Weissgauff Robowash Vision? My apartment is about 100 square meters, and there are carpets. We don't have any pets.
This model has very strange mapping and orientation algorithms. In five months of use, it created a map similar to an apartment four times. It constantly skips sections or entire rooms (and this is only a 55 square meter apartment). It can start cleaning, then think it's done a minute later, or it can wander into a U-shaped space between furniture and spin around there for 20 minutes.
I tried writing to the manufacturer about the above, as this behavior is very strange for a $210 device. I haven't received a response for two months now, and I don't think I'll ever get one.
Soon, the vacuum cleaner started having motion issues—it couldn't move backward or to the right. I took it to the manufacturer's service center. They asked me over the phone to remove the dust container from the robot. This location is in Altufyevo, in some substation building (at least, it looks like it). This service center will never call you to tell you that you can pick up your robot. You have to call yourself and inquire about the status. In my case, the repair took 2 or 3 days, according to the receipt, and I waited over a week for a call before calling myself. When I arrived at the service center, I couldn't test the robot because it doesn't work without the dust container, and the service center doesn't have a container to test it. When I got home, I discovered that the motion issue hadn't gone away. It felt like they hadn't done anything at all. During my second visit to the service center, I was greeted by a receptionist who seemed drunk or had a terrible hangover from the night before. He apologized profusely and told me that "nothing ever breaks unless you do nothing." The second repair attempt was successful. The service center also told me they'd replaced the motherboard, and I assumed the navigation issues would resolve, but instead, things only got worse.
I don't recommend this model to anyone! I ended up returning it to the store. I'm fed up with the constant jamming and problems.
A very good robot. It's surprisingly quiet; I thought it would be louder. Wi-Fi, if the router is working properly, doesn't drop out. Setting up a connection to the cloud via the app is only possible with a 2.4 GHz router; 5 GHz won't work. I have a dual-band router (some of the hardware operates on one frequency, some on another), so setting it up was easy. Once the robot is connected to your home network and configured, it doesn't matter which network you run the app on, as long as the account and network are initially configured for 2.4 GHz. Now I can connect to my robot via the app both over the internet from my phone's mobile network and from my wife's phone via 5 GHz Wi-Fi—it makes no difference. Everything works, it provides navigation, and it adjusts the schedule.
The robot's navigation map is 100% distorted if the wheels slip, for example when driving over a high threshold. The image overlaps, and the offset from the original becomes greater the longer the slippage lasts, so it's best to avoid it altogether. As far as I've noticed, the navigation system then attempts to fill in the gaps caused by map shifting, and some areas, as well as the perimeter of rooms, are vacuumed a second time. If the map shifts again, it vacuums a third time, and so on in a loop until a point on the map matches or the perimeter of rooms closes, signaling to the robot that it's already been there and cleaned everything. Overall, this technology is worth the investment. If the robot stubbornly refuses to clean something—driving past, ignoring, or not entering—just change the location of the base.
If the robot finishes cleaning in another room, it finds the base by traversing the perimeter, as it can only see it close by, about two meters away at most. This is probably the only thing I didn't like and can be considered a downside.
Hello! Help me choose between the Xiaomi roborock sweep One and the Clever and clean aqua-series 03. Which model has better cleaning performance and navigation? I'd like to avoid having to press and select, so I don't leave any uncleaned areas in my apartment.
Good afternoon, point 3 in your description of the vacuum cleaner's functionality reads "Automatic water supply to the cloth during wet cleaning." What do you mean by this?
