Redmond RV-UR375: Upright vacuum cleaner with automatic power boost for carpets

Priced between $230 and $270, the Redmond RV-UR375 upright vacuum cleaner boasts increased power (up to 550 watts), a longer-lasting battery, automatic power boost when dirt is detected, a wide range of included attachments, and even a replaceable turbo brush. At first glance, it all seems quite competitive. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Redmond RV-UR375, after which I'll share my opinion on whether it's worth buying and what its pros and cons are, comparing it to similar products in this price range. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in this branded box:
The package includes:
- The main unit, into which I have already installed the battery.
- Extension tube.
- Basic floor nozzle.
- Wall holder with mounting elements.
- Flexible hose.
- Operating instructions.
- Power adapter.
- Replacement roller brush for the main nozzle.
- Nozzle for upholstered furniture.
- Crevice nozzle.
- 2 in 1 attachment with sliding bristles.
The package is good. Let's move on!
Appearance
Let's take a look at the Redmond RV-UR375's design. Let's start with the main unit. The bottom of the handle has terminals for wireless charging on a wall mount. The battery is removable, which is a plus.
The vacuum cleaner is turned on and off with a trigger button. You don't have to hold it down, which is also convenient. On the end is an informative LED display and a mechanical mode selector button. There are four modes: minimum, medium, maximum, and automatic. In automatic mode, the Redmond RV-UR375 automatically adjusts the suction power based on the level of dirt. A blow-out filter is located around the display and can be removed by twisting.
The dust container is emptied by pressing the latch. Surprisingly, the dust container isn't completely removable. You can only remove the filtration system when needed. In my opinion, this isn't very convenient, and I'll explain why in my tests. The dust container features a four-stage filtration system using HEPA, foam, mesh, and cyclone filters. This gives a total of five filtration stages, including a blow-out HEPA filter.
Let's take a closer look at the main floor nozzle. It features a swivel joint and rubberized wheels that gently grip the floor. A front LED light improves dust collection in low-light areas.
The turbo brush is released by pressing the latch, which is very convenient. It has a well-made, flap-and-bristle structure. You can replace it with a roller brush with short, elastic bristles. In my opinion, its design is better suited for collecting hair and fur, as well as cleaning carpets. In any case, I prefer the structure of the first brush.
This is what the vacuum cleaner looks like when fully assembled:
It's also worth noting that vertical parking is available. Here's how it works:
Let's take a look at the additional attachments included in the kit. The furniture attachment has longer bristles, while the other two attachments have shorter, retractable bristles. All three attachments are standard in design. Surprisingly, the soft-bristled attachment is offered for cleaning furniture, not the mini turbo brush. Even the retractable attachment seems more convenient for cleaning sofa upholstery. The so-called furniture attachment is better for picking up debris on shelves and other similar structures.
I'd also like to mention the wall mount. You can charge the vacuum cleaner by simply hanging the main unit in the wall mount. There's no need to plug it in. It's very convenient. It also allows you to store two extra attachments.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Redmond RV-UR375, as declared by the manufacturer:
- Li-Ion battery 3000 mAh.
- Power consumption 550 W.
- Suction power 140 W.
- Operating time up to 75 min.
- Charging time up to 5 hours.
- Waste container 600 ml.
- Weight 2.96 kg.
- Noise level 76-82 dB.
It's worth noting that the noise level was measured personally. At minimum power, it ranged from 76-77 dB, reaching 77.5 dB in medium mode, and at maximum power, the peak was 82 dB. This cordless vacuum cleaner has a higher noise level, but not alarmingly so.
Regarding weight, the main unit weighs 1,849 grams, the extension tube 269 grams, and the floor nozzle 846 grams. The total weight of the vacuum cleaner, fully assembled, is 2,964 grams. This is slightly heavier than similar models, but from experience, I can say the weight is well distributed and doesn't tire your hand when holding it. The center of gravity is shifted toward the nozzle, and the vacuum glides over surfaces thanks to rollers underneath.
However, the stated power consumption is high, and further tests will be conducted to evaluate the quality of debris collection by this vacuum cleaner.
Testing
Opening hours
First, let's check the battery life at maximum power. The vacuum cleaner lasted 12:48 hours on Turbo mode, and when the battery level reached 20%, the Redmond RV-UR375 automatically switched to medium power, making it impossible to re-enable Turbo mode. It ran on medium power for another 4:50, giving it a total runtime of 17:38. This is the best result of all the upright vacuum cleaners tested. Even with the reduced power, the vacuum cleaner still lasts a very long time on a single charge. Moreover, in medium mode, the power is very high.
Suction power
Now let's test the suction power on the test bench. Even at medium power, the Redmond RV-UR375 was able to partially suck up debris from a 10 mm gap, as mentioned above. At maximum power, it thoroughly cleaned all the crevices, so I can say the vacuum is definitely powerful, which is a plus!
Quality of waste collection
The quality of debris collection on laminate floors was also impressive. The Redmond RV-UR375 is capable of capturing a wide range of debris, while thoroughly cleaning along baseboards and in corners. There are no blind spots. Pet hair and fur do not get caught in the roller. All debris is collected in the dust bin. Test passed!
The same debris was scattered on the carpet, and the vacuum cleaner performed just as well. It cleaned the carpet thoroughly. Even on medium power, it clings tightly to the carpet, sucking out all the life! I even had to turn it to minimum power to get it off. The Redmond RV-UR375 is definitely suitable for cleaning carpets.
As a reminder, the vacuum cleaner features an automatic power boost mode when it detects dirt. This feature allows for efficient use of the battery, extending its runtime.
The included attachments allow you to clean not only furniture but also car interiors and hard-to-reach areas. It's a shame there's no turbo brush attachment for cleaning mattresses, but perhaps many people don't need one.
Finally, I'll tell you how to empty the dust bin after all the tests. Press the latch, and in theory, all the debris should fall out through the bottom. However, there were some hairs and fur in the bin, which had clumped and gotten stuck between the bin walls and the cyclone. As a result, I couldn't shake them out and had to use my hands, which isn't ideal. Even if I had removed the filtration system from the top, I would still have had to remove some of the debris by hand or with a brush. If the bin were completely removable, it would have been easier to empty, as I mentioned at the beginning. But again, it's not critical, and in my case, there was a lot of debris. After one or two cleanings, it's unlikely you'll have accumulated so much that it would be difficult to empty.
Personal opinion
The Redmond RV-UR375 upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll share my thoughts on the device after a thorough review. I liked the following:
- High real suction power.
- High-quality waste collection on both hard surfaces and carpets.
- Removable battery.
- Long working time.
- LED illumination of the main nozzle.
- Informative display on the body.
- High quality filtration system.
- Charging on a wall holder.
- Vertical parking.
- Availability of a warranty and full service support from the manufacturer.
Speaking of disadvantages, there are rather comments about this vacuum cleaner, namely:
- There is no mini turbo brush for cleaning upholstered furniture.
- The weight of the fully assembled unit is slightly heavier than that of similar units.
- Increased noise level, which is again due to increased power.
- The dust collector is not very easy to clean from debris.
Overall, this upright vacuum cleaner has many advantages and is definitely worth considering. If these issues aren't too critical for you, you should definitely consider it, especially if the price is closer to the lower $230 mark.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
