Redmond RV-R660S: lidar, dry and wet cleaning, creative voice packs

Hello to all readers! This review will focus on the Redmond RV-R660S robot vacuum cleaner. This model starts at $210, placing it in the mid-price range. For this price, the manufacturer offers a robot vacuum with lidar navigation, dry and wet cleaning functions, and control via both a mobile app and a remote control. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Redmond RV-R660S and then express my opinion on whether it's worth the money. So, let's get started!
Equipment
Let's start with the package contents. The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in this branded box:
The package includes:
- Charging base.
- Power adapter.
- A dust collector that is installed instead of a combined water and waste container.
- Operating instructions.
- Spare microfiber cloth.
- Remote control.
- Spare HEPA filter.
- Robot cleaning tool.
- Two spare side brushes.
The set is complete. That's a plus!
Appearance
Let's take a look at the Redmond RV-R660S's design. It's white and round. It stands 95 mm above the floor.
The front features a soft-touch mechanical bumper. Two mechanical control buttons and a lidar sensor for navigation are located on top. The lidar sensor cover is spring-loaded.
We see that there's no indication that the HEPA filter can be washed with water, so it's not recommended. However, the container can be washed with water. Just make sure to dry it before use. The water tank holds 300 ml, and the dust container holds up to 350 ml of dry waste. The holder with the cleaning cloth can be removed if needed. The cleaning cloth is attached to the holder with Velcro. It's also worth noting that the filter system is triple-filtered: a mesh filter, a foam filter, and a HEPA filter.
Instead of the combined dry and wet container, you can install a dust collector designed to hold 800 ml of dry waste. The filtration system is the same, triple-layered.
The robot has three fall protection sensors installed underneath. It also has two side brushes, three-beam and quick-release.
The central brush unit is non-floating. The turbo brush itself has bristle inserts. It can be disassembled on both sides to remove tangled hair and pet hair.
Overall, the robot's build quality is budget-mid-range, as is its price segment.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Redmond RV-R660S, as declared by the manufacturer:
- Battery: Li-Ion 2600 mAh
- Cleaning area: up to 100 sq.m.
- Battery life: up to 140 min
- Dust collector: 800 ml
- Combined container: 350 + 300 ml
- Dimensions: 320*95 mm
I'll just point out that the battery is a bit weak for this kind of navigation. However, it's good that there's a function that resumes cleaning after recharging at the base, should the robot fail to cover the entire area in one cleaning cycle.
Functional capabilities
Regarding the robot vacuum's capabilities, it can be controlled both via a proprietary mobile app and a remote control. The app provides the main functionality. The robot connects seamlessly to it, and the interface itself is in Russian.
The most important functions of the Redmond RV-R660S are displayed on the screen:
- Saving multiple cleaning maps in memory.
- Virtual walls and no-go zones.
- Setting up cleaning zones on the map.
- Adjusting the power and water supply level.
- Cleaning with recharging.
- Setting up cleaning according to a schedule.
- Y-shaped wet cleaning.
- Manual control.
- Voice notifications in Russian.
- Record your own voice commands.
- Yandex.Alice support.
- Cleaning log.
It's important to note that the robot can't automatically zone a room into rooms, which would allow you to select specific rooms for cleaning on a map. An alternative is to set cleaning zones on a map. There's also no automatic power boost on carpets. However, with the combined container installed, the robot vacuum cleaner moves in a Y-shaped pattern, similar to a floor polisher. It's also important to note that the robot has several voice packs, including a creative pack called "Bro." You can also record your own voice commands for each cleaning status, which is a plus.
In general, the functionality is limited, but nevertheless the basic capabilities are implemented.
The remote control duplicates functions such as On/Off, Forced Return to Charging Base, Manual Control, Start/Pause, Power Adjustment, Water Supply Adjustment, and Local Cleaning Mode. These functions are sufficient if connecting the robot vacuum to Wi-Fi is not possible.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Redmond RV-R660S has already been prepared and published on the channel. I recommend watching the video:
Navigation
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Redmond RV-R660S's navigation in a room with obstacles. Since it had a combined container installed, its movement pattern was Y-shaped. The robot vacuum first cleared the perimeter, then cleaned the entire accessible area. It didn't get stuck on the dryer. It also swept around the box and chair legs. Test successful!
When it comes to navigating within the home, the Redmond RV-R660S divides the room into zones and then cleans each zone, first along the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. There were no uncleaned areas, and the navigation was flawless.
Suction power
The manufacturer doesn't specify suction power in Pascals, but the robot vacuum cleaner's test results only showed it could vacuum debris from a 2 mm deep gap, which is standard. This power is sufficient for automatically maintaining a clean home.
Dry cleaning
Dry cleaning performance is high. The Redmond RV-R660S was able to pick up various types of debris from the floor, and even swept out corners better than most other round robots. Some hair got caught in the side and center brushes, but the majority of the debris ended up in the dust bin. Test passed!
Carpet cleaning
The same debris was scattered on a medium-pile carpet, and the Redmond RV-R660S cleaned it well. Another test counts!
Wet cleaning
However, the quality of dirt removal is poor. Some dirt remained on the stand after several passes of the robot. Apparently, the cloth doesn't press firmly enough to the floor. And the robot itself is more compact and lighter than its competitors, so it's not particularly suited for removing dirt.
However, it's important to note that the cloth itself is generously moistened, the water supply is electronically adjustable, and most importantly, the Redmond RV-R660S can vacuum and mop the floor at the same time, unlike the older 670 model, which was also reviewed.
Wet cleaning and carpets
When it comes to wet cleaning on carpeted floors, a robot vacuum cleaner doesn't detect carpets and therefore can't automatically avoid them during wet cleaning, or even turn off the water supply when entering carpeted areas. This is worth keeping in mind.
Obstacle clearance
The Redmond RV-R660S's off-road capability isn't particularly good either. While it can still negotiate a 15mm threshold, it's simply not up to the task of a 20mm threshold.
Driving on black surfaces
Another caveat: like most other robotic vacuum cleaners, the Redmond RV-R660S is sensitive to black floors, detecting them due to differences in height. This is worth keeping in mind.
Noise level
Finally, we measured the Redmond RV-R660S's noise level in different modes. At minimum power, it was between 60-62 dB. At medium power, it rose to 64-66 dB, and at maximum power, the peak was 67.9 dB. The noise level is standard.
Personal opinion
The Redmond RV-R660S robot vacuum cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 98 pointsThe result was even 4 points higher than 670th model.
Overall rating of tested robot vacuum cleaners: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.
I will share my own opinion about the model after all the tests.
I liked the following:
- Good navigation.
- High-quality dry cleaning on various surfaces.
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- Y-shaped movement pattern in wet cleaning mode.
- Control via app and remote control.
- Yandex.Alice support.
- Record your own voice commands and the creative voice pack "Bro".
- Complete set.
- Availability of warranty and service.
Speaking about the shortcomings, I had the following comments about the robot:
- Automatic zoning of the premises into rooms is not provided.
- Weak battery.
- Not able to remove light dirt.
- Poor cross-country ability.
- Afraid of black floor coverings.
Overall, the robot has both pros and cons for the $200-$250 price range. For those who value brand support and don't mind these criticisms, I see no compelling reason not to recommend the Redmond RV-R660S.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!

Thanks for the article! I think a modern vacuum cleaner allows you to control which areas of the house it cleans, how it cleans, and how long it cleans using the app. The cleaning quality is excellent, and it's noticeably cleaner. It doesn't leave streaks when wet, so everything's great.
Thank you! I agree)) It's smart, it maps the room and goes where it needs to go, in its own mode. It has powerful suction and handles both carpet and laminate flooring.
I also bought this model, and it's truly a decent option, providing high-quality cleaning. Especially considering its runtime on smooth surfaces is over two hours, more than enough for my two-room apartment. Yes, it may not completely replace manual labor, but it can clean, remove debris, and refresh the floor—it's all within its power.
