iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua: A compact robot vacuum cleaner with a versatile cleaning module

This review will examine and test the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua robot vacuum cleaner. Priced at approximately $145, the device boasts a gyroscope for navigation, dry and wet cleaning functions, control not only via a mobile app but also via a remote control, and, equally important, a replaceable central unit. The user can remove the installed turbo brush at any time and install a direct suction module in its place. This way, you decide how the robot cleans. with or without turbo brushIn general, the functionality and capabilities are quite interesting for this price segment. We just need to figure out how well the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua performs and whether it's worth the money. That's what we'll discuss below. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The robot vacuum cleaner comes packaged in a bright, branded box like this:
In addition to the robot itself, it contains:
- Charging base.
- Power adapter.
- Wet cleaning nozzle with a microfiber cloth installed.
- Central brush with cover.
- Remote control.
- Magnetic tape to restrict movement.
- Operating instructions and a quick guide to connecting the robot to the network.
- Spare HEPA filter.
- Spare napkin.
- Two spare side brushes.
- And a tool for cleaning the robot.
The kit is complete, including all the necessary accessories and spare parts for operating the robot vacuum cleaner.
Appearance
Let's take a look at the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua's appearance. It's black. The plastic is glossy, but admittedly, it does get dirty easily. The body is about 76 mm tall, even with the water tank installed.
The control panel features two mechanical buttons: start/pause and forced return to the charging base. Between them is a Wi-Fi connection indicator. The dust container is removable from the rear. The manufacturer's instructions on it state that, for some reason, the container cannot be washed with water, although the HEPA filter is washable.
The dust container has a lid that opens easily for emptying. A protective flap inside prevents accidental spillage when removing the container. Incidentally, the dust container itself, according to the manufacturer, holds up to 800 ml of dry waste, although you wouldn't know it from the outside. The maximum capacity is 500 ml. It features a triple filtration system with HEPA, foam, and mesh filters, which is a plus.
Let's take a look at the 425 model's underside. The robot is equipped with three fall protection sensors, two quick-release side brushes, and a direct suction module that can be easily swapped for a central brush.
The turbo brush has bristles, but the bristles are not very dense. Both sides of the brush can be removed to remove tangled hair and fur, which is a nice touch.
Here's what the wet cleaning nozzle looks like; it holds up to 180 ml of water:
Water is poured from the top. It attaches to the robot with clips. The cleaning cloth is attached to the nozzle with Velcro. Water flows by gravity through two dispenser holes. Unfortunately, there is no electronic water flow control.
This design of the tank, when it is located outside the body, allows the height of the robot vacuum cleaner to be maintained and remain below the standard mark of 8 cm.
Overall, the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua's build quality is average, as is its price. I have no particular complaints about the robot.
Technical specifications
Key Features of the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua:
- Li-Ion battery 2600 mAh.
- Suction power 2250 Pa.
- Cleaning area up to 150 sq.m.
- Battery life up to 120 min.
- Dust collector 800 ml.
- Water tank 180 ml.
- Obstacle clearance 15 mm.
- Dimensions 320*76 mm.
It's worth noting here that the cleaning area is most likely indicated for ideal conditions, a rectangular room without obstacles. In reality, robotic vacuum cleaners with a gyroscope They can effectively clean areas up to 80 square meters, regardless of the gyroscope installed. Otherwise, the specifications are quite standard.
Functional capabilities
Let's move on to an overview of the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua's features. As mentioned earlier, this robot is controlled via a smartphone and remote control. The mobile app is called Weback, and it's used to control many robots. The robot vacuum cleaner connects to a Wi-Fi network without any issues.
On the main control panel, the robot creates a real-time map of the room but does not store this map in memory, which is typical of all gyroscope robots. Below the map, data on the last cleaning job and the battery percentage are displayed. Below this, a row of buttons controls the robot's main functions, namely: start/pause, selection of one of three cleaning modes, suction power adjustment, forced return to the charging base, and manual control.
In the settings section, you can enable and disable voice notifications. Incidentally, the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua speaks Russian. You can also change the robot's name, set up a cleaning schedule by selecting the time and days of the week, share control with other users, and update the firmware if necessary.
It's important to note that this robot supports control via Yandex Alice; I checked this. And you can use a magnetic strip to restrict the robot's movements, which is a plus.
As for the remote control, it has duplicated functions such as: on/off, forced return to the base for charging, manual control, start/pause, suction power adjustment, selection of local cleaning mode and perimeter cleaning mode.
Overall, the robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with all the standard features needed to automatically keep your home clean. The only thing missing is electronic water flow control.
Testing
A detailed video review with all the tests has already been prepared and published on the channel. I recommend watching it:
Navigation
Finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua's navigation in a room with obstacles. The robot vacuum cleaner initially traverses the entire accessible area in a zigzag pattern. It didn't specifically sweep around the legs of a chair and a box. While traversing the perimeter, it got stuck on the leg of a dryer and began to slip, but the map continued to build as if the robot were moving forward. As a result, after exiting the trap, the robot began cleaning in the same places it had already been, without completing the cleaning cycle. After 27 minutes of operation, it was decided to return to its base, and it found it without any problems. This test failed.
As for navigation within the home, if you prepare the room before launch and remove anything that might interfere with the robot, it will be able to accurately map and clean the entire available area. There are no complaints about the navigation in this regard.
Suction power
The iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua has standard suction power. It managed to suck up debris from a 2mm gap with both the direct suction module and the turbo brush. Its power is on par with most similar devices and is sufficient for automatically maintaining a clean home.
Dry cleaning of laminate flooring
Dry cleaning performance on hard surfaces is good, both with and without the brush attachment. It leaves only a small amount of debris in corners, which round robots can't reach.
The majority of debris is collected in the dust bin. Hair gets tangled up in the brush, if one is installed. If the vacuum module is installed, all debris is collected directly in the dust bin, minimizing robot maintenance.
Cleaning the carpet
However, it is worth noting that if a direct suction module is installed, the cleaning quality on carpets is significantly worse.
But with the turbo brush, the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua cleans carpets well.
Wet cleaning
The quality of the removal of dried-on dirt is also excellent. The stand is practically clean, leaving only a small strip along the baseboard, which robotic vacuum cleaners are unable to clean due to their design.
It's important to note that this robot vacuum cleaner can vacuum and mop simultaneously, which is very convenient. This system is perfectly suitable for gentle wet cleaning in a home environment.
Obstacle clearance
Although the manufacturer claims it can navigate obstacles up to 15 mm, this robot vacuum cleaner can even cross 20 mm thresholds, albeit with difficulty. However, there are some nuances regarding this obstacle clearance.
The iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua can't always navigate fluffy carpets. This isn't due to the clearance between the body and the floor, but rather because the side brushes get caught under the carpet, preventing the robot from moving forward, as you'll see. While it will eventually navigate the carpet after a few tries, keep this in mind when considering this model. There are some minor issues with maneuverability.
Driving on dark surfaces
Furthermore, the 425 model is sensitive to dark surfaces, detecting them due to elevation changes. This is another criticism of the robot. This issue is also relevant to many other similar models; it's not unique.
Noise level
Finally, we measured the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua's noise level in different modes. At minimum power, it ranged from 59-61 dB, at medium power, it reached 64 dB, and at maximum power, the peak was 65.5 dB. We can say the noise level is below average, which is a plus.
Let's sum it up
The iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 46 out of 100 pointsThe result is average; there are quite a few gyroscopic robots that are lower in the overall ranking, but there are also some that managed to score higher.

Now I'll share my personal opinion of the model after detailed testing. I liked the following:
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- Control via app and remote control.
- Small body height.
- Good quality dry and wet cleaning.
- Possibility of movement restriction with magnetic tape.
- Complete set.
- The noise level is slightly below average.
- Yandex.Alice support.
- Full warranty support from the manufacturer.
As for the disadvantages, I would like to highlight:
- Incorrect algorithm for movement in difficult conditions.
- Fear of dark floor coverings.
- Problems with driving onto carpets.
- There is no electronic regulation of water supply.
Ultimately, I would recommend the iBoto Smart X425GWE Aqua for cleaning areas up to 60 square meters, ideally without fluffy carpets. In my opinion, this robot vacuum cleaner is better suited for cleaning hard floors.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
