Tefal X-Plorer Serie 75: A simplified version of the flagship at a more affordable price

This review examines the Tefal X-Plorer Series 75 robot vacuum cleaner. It was released simultaneously with the flagship Tefal X-Plorer Series 95, which has already been reviewed on the channel and website. This model is more simplified, which allowed for a lower cost, but still features advanced features, including dry and wet cleaning and lidar-based navigation. However, the price of the robot is around $350, placing it in the premium segment. Below, I will thoroughly examine and test the 75 model, after which I will express my opinion on whether it's worth buying. So, let's get started!

Equipment

The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:

In addition to the robot itself, the delivery kit includes:

1. Charging base.
2. Power adapter.
3. A wet cleaning attachment with a microfiber cloth attached. According to the manufacturer, the red cloth is more suitable for cleaning in areas with pets.
4. Spare blue cloth for everyday wet cleaning.
5. Robot cleaning tool.
6. Documentation in several languages, including Russian.

The kit includes everything needed to operate the robot, but consumables must be purchased separately. A remote control is also not included as an alternative control option.

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the design of the Tefal X-Plorer Series 75. It's black, made of matte plastic. The robot is also available in white. The body is just over 10 cm tall.

Above, we see a lidar for navigation. A wall sensor is mounted on the side of the bumper.

A soft-touch mechanical bumper is installed around the entire perimeter. The control panel has two mechanical buttons: start/pause and a forced return to the charging base. The dust container is located on the top and can be easily removed with the press of a button.

The container holds up to 400 ml of dry waste. The filtration system includes a mesh, foam, and HEPA filter.

Let's take a look at the Tefal X-Plorer Serie 75's underside. It has three fall protection sensors. It has two side brushes, three-pronged, and screw-mounted.

The central brush has bristles and petals. Both sides can be removed to remove tangled hair and fur.

The wet cleaning nozzle holds only 90 ml of water. The cloth is attached to the nozzle with Velcro and a pocket. Water flows to the cloth by gravity through three dispenser holes.

The blue cloth for everyday wet cleaning is thicker and of a standard size.

Overall, the build quality of the Tefal X-Plorer Series 75 is above average. There are no particular complaints about the robot.

Let's move on to a review of the Tefal X-Plorer Series 75's features. The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled via a proprietary mobile app. Connecting to the network was straightforward, and the manufacturer describes all the steps in detail.

On the main control panel, the robot creates a room map and automatically divides it into rooms. The latest cleaning data is displayed below the map. Below that, the main operating modes are listed in a row: automatic cleaning of the entire available area, selection of cleaning zones on the map, selection of rooms for cleaning, and setting a point on the map for spot cleaning. You can also set no-go zones on the map; there are no separate no-go zones for wet cleaning mode only. Also to the right of the map is a "map zoning" section, where you can combine multiple rooms into one, divide a room into zones, name rooms, and customize a user mode.

In custom mode, you can adjust the suction power individually for each room. For example, in rooms that are more prone to dirt, select the maximum power mode, while in cleaner rooms, select the minimum or medium power mode to conserve battery life.

Let's return to the main control panel. The bottom row of buttons is used to force the robot to return to the base, start and stop the cleaning process, and adjust the suction power. Here you can also select the automatic power boost mode when entering carpets.

Clicking on the “More” section opens up additional features of the Tefal X-Plorer Serie 75, namely:

• Set up a cleaning schedule. Here you can choose the time, days of the week, suction power, and even the rooms to clean.
• Remote control of the robot, which also allows you to launch a local cleaning mode.
• Search for a robot by sound signal if it is stuck somewhere.
• Selecting the desired cleaning map. It's important to note that the Tefal X-Plorer Serie 75 stores multiple cleaning maps in its memory.
• Enabling user mode.
• View cleaning history.
• Enabling Do Not Disturb mode.
• Monitoring the status of consumables.

It's also important to note that the Tefal X-Plorer Serie 75 can be controlled via Yandex.Alice, which is a plus. However, what's missing is electronic water flow control due to the design of the tank.

Navigation

Let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the robot vacuum's navigation in a room with obstacles. The Tefal X-Plorer Series 75 first navigates the room's perimeter, then begins cleaning the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. It didn't get stuck on the dryer, and it also cleaned around each chair leg and box separately. The test was successful.

The robot also performed well when it came to navigating throughout the house. After mapping and zoning the room, it cleaned room by room, first along the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. Cleaning speed was high, and there were no uncleaned areas. The Tefal X-Plorer Series 75 is equipped with a good navigation system.

Suction power

In terms of suction power, this robot vacuum was able to suck up debris from crevices as small as 2 and 4 mm deep. The suction power is slightly above average, making it more than sufficient for automatically maintaining a clean home.

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

Let's test the quality of debris collection on laminate flooring. The robot demonstrated excellent cleaning performance, with no debris left on the stand! A small amount of hair got caught on the central brush, but most of the debris was collected in the dust bin.

I'd also like to point out that the Tefal X-plorer Series 75 sweeps out corners better than most other round robot vacuums. It passed the test successfully.

Cleaning the carpet

There are also no complaints about the cleaning quality on carpets; this robot vacuum cleaner cleans carpets well thanks to its increased suction power and central brush.

Wet cleaning

Speaking of wet cleaning, the dirt removal performance is above average. The cloth adheres well to the floor, and no dirt remains on the main part of the stand.

We only see an unwashed area along the baseboard, but this is the blind spot of all the robot vacuum cleaners I tested.

Obstacle clearance

The Tefal X-Plorer Series 75's obstacle clearance isn't the best. It can climb over 15mm thresholds, but it can't clear 20mm ones, even though the manufacturer claims a maximum clearance of 15mm.

Driving on dark surfaces

This robot vacuum cleaner is sensitive to dark surfaces due to elevation changes. Please keep this in mind.

Noise level

Finally, let's check the noise level of the Tefal X-Plorer Serie 75 in different modes. At minimum power, it ranges from 59-61 dB, in medium mode it reaches 63 dB, in high power mode the noise level reaches 64.5 dB, and at maximum power, the peak noise level is 68.4 dB.

The noise level is standard for robotic vacuum cleaners, especially considering the slightly increased suction power.

Let's sum it up

The Tefal X-Plorer Serie 75 has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 69 out of 100 pointsFor comparison, the previous one, 80th The model scored only 55 points, while the flagship Tefal X-Plorer Series 95 scored 80 out of 100. Therefore, the 75 model scores in the middle between these two robots.

Now I'll share my personal opinion about the robot. I liked the following:

1. Good navigation.
2. Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
3. The quality of dry and wet cleaning is above average.
4. Increased suction power.
5. All important functionality is in the application.
6. Automatic power increase when driving on carpets.
7. High quality assembly.
8. Yandex.Alice support.
9. Availability of full service support from the manufacturer. Moreover, Tefal states that spare parts for its robots will be produced for 10 years from the release of a specific model.

As for drawbacks, there are some. They're not particularly critical, but they're still there. The main one is the basic wet cleaning. The tank is small and there's no way to adjust the water flow. Furthermore, the robot can't cross thresholds higher than 15 mm and is sensitive to dark surfaces.

But for those who don't find these drawbacks significant, you can safely consider purchasing this robot vacuum. The built-in features and demonstrated cleaning quality fully justify the price.
