Hello readers! This article will review the new Dreame Bot D9 Max robot vacuum cleaner. This model replaces its popular predecessor. Dreame D9The main highlights of this new product are increased suction power (4000 Pa), a slightly longer central brush, and a toothed surface in the suction channel, which, according to the manufacturer, helps the turbo brush self-clean from tangled hair and pet hair. Below, I'll take a detailed look at and test the Dreame Bot D9 Max, after which I'll share my opinion on whether this robot vacuum is worth buying. Speaking of purchasing, the standard price of this model is around $300, while at launch, with a discount, you can snag it for just $254—a record-breaking price for a powerful robot vacuum with lidar and a wet cleaning function. In the conclusion, I've included information on how to get a discount and the best places to buy this robot. So, let's get to the review!

Equipment

The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:

The package is minimal, which is typical for Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners and the Dreame line in particular.

Appearance

Let's take a closer look at the robot itself. The Dreame Bot D9 Max is black and made of glossy plastic. Visually, the robot is identical to its older model. Dreame Bot L10 Pro, which I had for review. The only difference is that the D9 Max doesn't have the sensor system on the front bumper that helps the robot detect objects on the floor. The side wall sensor has also been removed.

Functional capabilities

Let's move on to the feature overview. The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled via the Mi Home app. Installation and connection were straightforward for me; simply follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Connecting the robot to the networkConnecting the robot to the network

Connecting the robot to the network

On the main control panel, the Dreame Bot D9 Max creates a room map and automatically divides it into rooms. In the robot's main settings, you can adjust the volume of voice notifications. This robot supports voice packages in several languages, including Russian. You can also enable or disable notifications about the robot's status to your smartphone.

In addition, the Dreame Bot D9 Max supports automatic power boost when entering carpets and resumes cleaning after recharging at the base. You can set a "Do Not Disturb" mode and enable rinse notifications when the robot is wet cleaning large areas.

Settings and functionsSettings and functions

Settings and functions

You can also adjust the suction power, the water level on the cloth, and set up a cleaning schedule in the settings section. You can select the desired rooms for cleaning, the time and days of the week when the Dreame Bot D9 Max should start, the suction power, and the degree of wetting of the cloth.

Additionally, you can view the cleaning log, track the status of consumables, manually control the robot vacuum cleaner, enable search by sound signal, change the robot's name, share control with other users, and update the firmware if necessary.

Let's return to the main dashboard. Next to the map is the map management section. Dreame Bot D9 Max can store multiple unique maps in its memory. In the map editor, you can divide rooms into separate zones, merge multiple rooms into one, and choose a name for each room.

Working with the mapWorking with the map

Working with the map

You can also set virtual walls and no-go zones on the map that the robot vacuum should not enter. The Dreame Bot D9 Max also supports separate no-go zones for wet cleaning, allowing you to protect carpets from getting wet during both dry and wet cleaning.

Below the map, you can select one of three cleaning modes. In Room mode, you can select the rooms you want to clean, the cleaning order, and the number of passes: 1 or 2. In Automatic mode, the robot cleans the entire available area, while in Zone mode, you can select rectangles on the map where you want the Dreame Bot D9 Max to clean. You can also select the number of passes: 1 or 2.

That's all the functionality of the robot vacuum cleaner. Basically, the basic features are covered. The only thing that remains unclear is whether the Dreame Bot D9 Max supports control via Yandex.Alice. Other robots in the line do, but the model I received for review doesn't appear in the list of available devices. If anyone has managed to connect it to Alice, please let me know in the comments.

Testing

A detailed video review with all the tests has already been prepared and published on the channel. I recommend watching the video:

Navigation

First, let's test how the Dreame Bot D9 Max performs in an obstacle course room. The robot vacuum first navigates the room's perimeter, then switches to cleaning the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. The dryer's legs presented a bit of a challenge, but the robot didn't get stuck and was able to continue cleaning. It even swept around each chair leg and box individually. Navigation is good.

Navigating within a room

When it comes to cleaning within the home, the Dreame Bot D9 Max cleans room by room, first along the perimeter and then in a serpentine pattern. There were no uncleaned areas; the test was a success!

Suction power

The Dreame Bot D9 Max claims to have a suction power of 4000 Pa. It was able to vacuum up to 8 mm deep. It struggled with a 10 mm deep gap, although the larger Dreame Bot L10 Pro was able to partially vacuum up to 10 mm deep. It's unclear why, as the two robots are identical in design. In any case, this robot is very powerful and more powerful than its predecessor, the Dreame D9.

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

The dry cleaning performance on the laminate flooring was also impressive. The robot vacuum was able to remove all debris from the floor, including pet hair and fur. Only the corners remained.

However, we see that hair is still tangled around the turbo brush, and the advertised anti-tangling system is, in my opinion, ineffective.

Hair on the brushHair on the brush

Hair on the brush

In any case, the bulk of the debris is collected in the dust collector and this test is passed successfully!

Cleaning the carpet

The cleaning quality on the carpet is high, the robot was able to collect all the debris, I have no complaints.

Wet cleaning

Wet cleaning also proved to be flawless. The Dreame Bot D9 Max was able to remove dried-on dirt from the floor without leaving streaks. A small streak of dirt remained along the baseboard, but this was the same for all other similar machines we tested.

Wet cleaningWet cleaning

Wet cleaning

Overall, the robot doesn't wet the floor too much, even at the maximum water flow level. So, it won't damage wooden flooring. The wet cleaning feature is quite well-implemented and is suitable for gentle wiping.

Obstacle clearance

This model has good obstacle clearance. The robot vacuum cleaner can easily navigate a 2-centimeter threshold. That's a plus.

Obstacle clearanceObstacle clearance

Driving on dark surfaces

The Dreame Bot D9 Max is wary of black surfaces, recognizing them by their height differences. This is important to keep in mind.

Noise level

Finally, we measured the robot's noise level in different modes. At minimum suction power, the noise level was around 60-62 dB, while at medium power, it was around 65 dB. In intensive cleaning mode, the noise level reached 67 dB, and in Turbo mode, the peak was 74.5 dB.

Noise levelNoise level

Noise level

The high noise level is due to the similar power, so if you want the robot to vacuum efficiently, you will have to run it when you are not there.

Personal opinion

Dreame Bot D9 Max has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he was able to dial 72 out of 100 points This is an excellent result for a robot vacuum cleaner, especially for this price. If the robot also supports control via Yandex.Alice, I'll add an extra two points, and it could be in the top ten. robot vacuum cleaners that passed the robovac.washerhouse.com test.

I'll share my personal opinion about the Dreame Bot D9 Max. I liked the following:

  1. Good navigation.
  2. High suction power.
  3. Good cleaning quality on both hard floors and carpets.
  4. All advanced functionality in the application.
  5. Good obstacle clearance.
  6. Good build quality.
  7. Well, it’s simply an excellent value in terms of price, quality and functionality.

The only downsides I can think of are its sensitivity to dark floors and slightly increased noise levels when operating at maximum power. But overall, the robot is definitely worth considering, and for the price, it's a great buy. Even at $300. And with the discount, the price is incredibly attractive.

Information for receiving a discount:

  • Promo code for a $20 discount: Dreame1500.
  • The first 50 buyers will receive a free Oclean X electric toothbrush (worth about $40).

On this note, I'd like to end this review. Thank you all for your attention. Happy shopping. Bye!

Yes, it seems they either sold out or it's some kind of marketing ploy. The sales launch was a bit of a flop, but in any case, I recommend waiting for this model to become available for purchase from other retailers. I think that will happen very soon.

    • Sergey

You need to enter it correctly, not in capital letters, but like this: Dreame1500

  • Aidar

Which one should I choose? The Dreame Bot L10 Pro or the Freeme Bot D9 Max? The vacuum cleaners have identical designs.

    • Admin

Now I would choose between the D9 Max and the new Z10 Pro.

      • baby doll

But the D9 Max isn't better than the L10 Pro in some ways... what's the basis for that recommendation? This isn't a question meant to start a debate, but to get your opinion as someone who's used both models.

        • Admin

Well, the L10 Pro's only significant difference is the 3D sensor on the bumper, but it doesn't detect all objects, much less pet surprises (which is one of the most important). So, considering the D9 Max could have been bought for at least $100 less, the savings are justified. But in any case, the L10 Pro is slightly better. I just wouldn't pay extra for it. The Z10 Pro, on the other hand, is a different story.

    • Vladislav

Is the lack of side sensors a bad thing? And would you pay $23 extra for the L10 Pro, or is it just not worth it?

      • Admin

I would have paid more) The fact that there are no sensors on the sides is not critical, but still, with them, the robot cleans better along the baseboard, bumps less, and drives more smoothly.

  • Anton

Hello. I read the reviews on your website and watched the video; it's very informative and reassuring. I ordered this model through the link with a discount; it came out to about 22,000 rubles with delivery! Question:
The robot requires Wi-Fi, and it requires a password for the cleaning spot (I had to set one, but I didn't have one). How will the robot work if the internet connection is lost? So, I started it cleaning via the app, and it went to a spot where there's no internet connection. What will it do?

    • Admin

Well, it will save the entire map it created in its memory, so I think it will work fine (there won't be any uncleared areas). The only thing is, in areas without Wi-Fi, the app might not work (it will say the robot is offline), and you won't be able to click anything.

    • Sergey

Got a great deal for 22k, I want to buy it but can't... only for 27-29k... too bad

      • Admin

That's really expensive. The Z10 Pro with self-cleaning and a 3D sensor is on sale on AliExpress for around 30,000 rubles.

  • Ivan

Good day! Could you please tell me, especially for those who are clueless like me, if this bot can vacuum and mop the floor at the same time? Thank you.

  • Timofey

Hello! Why isn't the Xiaomi MiJia Robot Vacuum Mop P included in this comparison? Is it more expensive or worse than this model?

  • Sergey

    Good afternoon.
Am I correct in understanding that the spare parts for the D9 and D9 Max are the same (side brush, main brush, filter)?

  • Admin

Hello. After reading your reviews and setting my budget at 30,000 rubles, I decided on the Dreame Bot D9 Max. The deciding factor was probably that this model is in stock at a store in my city, so I can contact them directly if any problems arise. Or would you recommend a different, more interesting model that doesn't require me to worry about dealing with service departments remotely if something breaks? The current price is 26,900 rubles.

    • Admin

For that kind of money, I'd rather order the L10 Pro from Ali, but the D9 Max is also a decent option if you've already bought it!

    • Xenia

      Good afternoon
Could you please explain how the button on the lidar actually works? Is it recessed or does it do something else? The distance under my dresser is 9.7 cm, and under my cabinet it's 8.7 cm.

      • Admin

The button is slightly recessed, but in general the lidar cover moves to the side a little and the robot moves back.

  • Admin

I got a little confused. We have the XIAOMI Dreame D9 Pro model on sale at our store. For some reason, I thought it was the MAX model.

  • Admin

Oh! If I don't have Wi-Fi at home, the robot vacuum won't work?

  • Nikolay

Hello, the review mentioned that the robot vacuum cleaner is sensitive to dark surfaces, recognizing them as elevation changes (a problem with many robot vacuum cleaners). Will it work effectively on dark hardwood floors?

  • Anton

Hello) thanks for the review, I still don’t know if Alice connects or not?

And from experience, is syncing with Alice more of a joke? Or does it actually add some convenience?

  • Natalia

Good afternoon. For some reason, my machine isn't wet cleaning. It feels like water isn't coming out of the container. What can I do?

  • Alexandra

Good afternoon. Could you please tell me if a robot vacuum cleaner can be operated using mobile internet?

  • Valery

What's the difference between the Dreame D9Pro and the D9Max, and which one is better?

    • Admin

The Dreaeme D9 Pro has six fall protection sensors (versus four), a wall sensor, and a different processor. Overall, it's a slightly newer model.

  • Tatiana

Hello! Can you tell me how the bot works? Will there be a camera for displaying on a phone (maybe in the app)? Or what's the correct name for this feature, as I can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance!

    • Admin

Hello! No, this model does not have an active camera (that's its correct name). The Roborock S6 MaxV and Ecovacs Deebot OZMO T9 AIVI have an active camera for remote home monitoring.

  • Admin

I ended up buying the D9PRO. I'm very happy with the purchase. I've been using it for a month and a half, almost daily. It drives carefully and doesn't hit walls (it approaches them carefully, turns, and drives along them). When it comes to carpet, it automatically increases suction power. It's very persistent (in a good way). If it doesn't fit into narrow spaces the first time, it makes several more attempts. There's less fine dust on surfaces in the house, and I don't understand where it finds it. After finishing scheduled cleaning on the weekend and vacuuming the apartment with a regular vacuum cleaner, I immediately started the robot, and it brought back trash in a container... I don't know where it got it from.
P.S. I regret one thing: that I didn't buy a robot vacuum cleaner five years ago.

  • Julia

Good afternoon! Please advise which vacuum cleaner to choose within 30,000 rubles.
The apartment is 100 sq. m. There are three low-pile rugs. I'm interested in dry and wet cleaning, and I like the option to vacuum and wet simultaneously. The flooring is laminate/tile, and there are no pets.
And also, as I understand it, if there are pads for the vacuum cleaner, then there is no electronic water supply?

  • Marinka

Could you recommend another brand of robot that can be serviced at a service center in Russia? I've read a lot of complaints about the Midea 8+ wheels breaking, but there's nowhere to get them repaired, so I'm having trouble choosing a vacuum cleaner.

  • Oksana

Good evening! I've been debating between buying a 9 Max, 9 PRO, L10 PRO, or something else interesting in this price range. I'm curious why the 9 Max only has a HEPA filter, and how will this affect the vacuum's performance in the future?

    • Admin

Hello! I would buy the L10 Pro. There's a new one, the Dreme Bot L10s Ultra, but that's a bit pricey. It's already on its way to review. Why is there only one filter? Saved money. Doesn't affect performance.

  • Anton

Hello! I'm deciding between the D9 and D9 Max; both are currently available in Russia for about $170 with a promo. As far as I understand, the D9 Max has a more powerful motor, but it lacks a mesh screen in front of the HEPA filter and a wall sensor on the side. If I don't have much carpet and am primarily concerned with cleaning laminate floors (both dry and wet), then the D9 Max's more powerful motor seems unnecessary, and the choice leans toward the regular D9, correct?
PS D9 Pro and L10 Pro are now significantly more expensive, 22-25 thousand.

  • Elena

Hello. For a 108 sq m apartment with a cat and three rugs, which Dreame would you recommend?

    • Admin

Yes, even this one is possible. It depends on your budget. For example, the Dreame Bot L10 Ultra is definitely better than the D9 Max.

  • Elena

I asked about Dreame, but maybe there is something better and more reliable within the 25-30 range?
