Appearance
The iRobot Scooba 450 has a stylish and modern design. While the robot vacuum appears to be almost perfectly round, a closer look reveals a semicircular bumper that protrudes slightly beyond the circumference, and the rear of the body is slightly tapered. The top edges are rounded and point downwards at a nearly right angle. This angularity reduces the likelihood of the vacuum getting into places it can't escape on its own.
The iRobot Scuba 450's body is made of black plastic with no coating. The surface is primarily matte, except for a mirror-smooth area in the center of the top panel, which is framed by a blue plastic insert. This area also houses the indicator lights and control buttons. A scale displays the cleaning time. A carrying handle is included.

Functionality and operating principle
This model's robotic cleaner is characterized by its low traffic volume. It should be used on extremely smooth surfaces, excluding carpets and rugs from the cleaning plan. Robotic floor cleaning
The iRobot Scooba 450 robot vacuum cleaner is turned on by simply pressing the button located on the top of the unit. Before use, fill one compartment of the water tank with clean water or detergent. The detergent can be a proprietary detergent diluted with cool or warm water (not distilled!). The second compartment is filled with dirty wastewater, so empty this compartment before cleaning again.
Robot compartments
The iRobot Scooba 450 robot model has only two operating modes, which differ in cleaning duration and the area of the rooms being cleaned.
However, vacuuming the floor is done in three stages:
- The robot vacuum cleaner moves, sucking up dirt from the floor like a regular vacuum cleaner. A stationary brush then begins scrubbing the dirt, followed by a rotating brush that intensively cleans the surface at approximately 600 rpm. After these manipulations, the dirt is sucked into the robot, and a cleaning solution is distributed over the floor, followed by wiping.
- In the second stage of cleaning, the robot vacuum cleaner sucks up the puddles that have formed on the surface and captures the dirt with rotating brushes using a powerful air flow.
- After wet cleaning, the iRobot Scooba 450 wipes dry any remaining moisture from the floor.

Its main drawbacks include the lack of multiple operating modes, its poor maneuverability, and the fact that it's an outdated model that's long since discontinued. Finding a replacement, especially a new one, will be quite difficult.
