Roidmi F8 XCQ03RM Vacuum Cleaner Review

Hello to all readers of the project robovac.washerhouse.comIn this review, we'll be testing a rather interesting Xiaomi upright vacuum cleaner, the Roidmi F8 XCQ03RM. The average price for this vacuum is around $170, but in some online stores, the price can reach a record low of $145. In its price range, it's one of the best options, and we've personally found that to be true. Let's take a look at the Roidmi F8's features, its design, and how well it performs its primary function. After watching this article and video, I'd be grateful if you'd appreciate my efforts by subscribing to [link in Russian]. So, let's get started!
Equipment
As always, let's start with the package contents. The Roidmi F8 comes in a branded box featuring a picture of the vacuum cleaner itself and basic information about the model.
The box contains:
- Operating instructions in Russian.
- Brush for cleaning the turbo brush.
- Adhesive pad for magnetic holder.
- Main block.
- Extension tube.
- Soft roller for cleaning laminate floors.
- Power adapter for charging the vacuum cleaner from the mains.
- Magnetic holder with fasteners (dowel-nails).
- Mini turbo brush.
- Main nozzle with turbo brush.
- Spare HEPA filter.
- Flexible hose.
- Crevice tool with removable brush.
All components are shown in the photo:
There are quite a few accessories, including several attachments for different applications and even a spare filter. Kudos to the manufacturer for that.
Appearance
Let's first look at the main unit. It looks stylish and neat. The plastic is pleasant to the touch, and the vacuum cleaner fits comfortably in the hand.
The dust bin full indicator and battery level indicator are located on top. The power button is conveniently located on the top of the handle. Double-clicking activates Turbo mode. The mode switch button is also located lower down the handle, if you hold the vacuum cleaner with a different grip. This makes this vacuum cleaner easy to use.
On the back of the handle is a socket for recharging the vacuum cleaner from the mains. It is protected by a dust cover.
The dust and debris container is removed with the press of a button. There's a seal where it connects to the motor. The suction port also has a rubber gasket. To disassemble the container, first remove the filter. Then, remove the filtration system, and then shake out the contents of the flask. The flask itself can be rinsed with water; however, be sure to dry all parts before reinstalling.
A separate nozzle with a mini turbo brush is provided for cleaning furniture. It has bristles and petals.
The main attachment is larger and comes with a similar bristle-and-petal brush, which differs only in length. If needed, the central brush can be replaced with a parquet roller.
The main nozzle itself is equipped with a swivel joint, improving maneuverability during use. A light sensor is mounted in the center of the top brush, preventing the front light from activating in bright light conditions. This allows the vacuum cleaner to conserve battery life. The LED backlight is quite bright. The front brush has a rubberized bumper, protecting furniture and the vacuum itself from damage. The transparent top of the housing allows you to monitor the brush's condition and promptly clear it of tangled hair and fur. Three rollers are mounted underneath, allowing the brush to glide smoothly across the floor without scratching surfaces.
There's a crevice tool with a removable brush. This tool is convenient for vacuuming furniture, car interiors, and, for example, keyboards.
The flexible hose is great for cleaning kitchen drawers:
Now that we've covered the package, let's move on to the specifications.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of Roidmi F8, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Power 115 W.
- Suction power up to 18500 Pa.
- Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 2500 mAh.
- Battery life is up to 55 minutes in standard mode and up to 10 minutes in Turbo mode.
- Charging time up to 2.5 hours.
- Dust collector capacity is 400 ml.
- Weight from 1.5 to 2.6 kg depending on assembly.
- Noise level up to 83 dB in maximum mode.
We tested some of these characteristics, including noise level and battery life in Turbo mode. This information was confirmed by real-world tests, which are demonstrated in the video review (below).
Functional capabilities
Since this is a cordless upright vacuum cleaner, not a robot vacuum, it doesn't have any particularly interesting features. Only a couple stand out:
- The area in front of the main nozzle is illuminated with LED lighting. This lighting is equipped with a photocell, so it only turns on in dimly lit areas. This is an interesting solution, like the one Hoover H-Free It has a similar backlight, but it works even during the day. The Roidmi F8, on the other hand, doesn't use the backlight in good lighting conditions, saving battery life.
- There are battery charge and dust bin full indicators. These indicators are located on the top of the handle and inform the user when it's time to charge the device or empty the dust bin.
Additionally, this vacuum cleaner can be connected to a proprietary app, but the usefulness of this solution is not entirely clear.
The app displays the battery level, dust container, and filter status. It also allows you to adjust the suction power. This isn't a particularly important feature to focus on. Furthermore, at the time of testing, we were unable to install the app because the developer was having issues and the vacuum cleaner wasn't showing up in the list of detected devices.
We've demonstrated all the features listed above, as well as tests, in detail in our video clips. Here's our detailed review of the Xiaomi Roidmi F8 XCQ03RM:
Let's sum it up
In conclusion, I'll highlight the main advantages and disadvantages of the Roidmi F8 that I discovered during testing. As with the Hoover H-Free, which we tested earlier, we'll rate this vacuum cleaner based on various criteria.
Ergonomics 9 out of 10It's maneuverable, lightweight, easy to assemble and maintain, and made of soft-touch plastic. Additionally, it features a well-designed light in front of the brush, an indicator on the body, and a variety of attachments for a variety of applications.
Cleaning quality 9 out of 10. The short battery life in Turbo mode was a disappointment. Furthermore, with the extension tube in standard mode, the power isn't very high and may struggle to handle heavy dirt. And 10 minutes isn't enough to thoroughly clean a house or apartment. Overall, manufacturers still have room for improvement.
Reliability and build quality 9 out of 10, in the best Xiaomi traditions. The motor runs smoothly, the RPMs don't fluctuate during cleaning, and all buttons and locks feel secure. The battery holds a charge as the manufacturer claims, and overall, the vacuum cleaner doesn't feel like a budget one, given its relatively low price. For the price, it's definitely a good option, so there are no complaints in terms of quality and reliability. Further use will reveal how reliable the Roidmi F8 is and whether it will hold up after a few months of use. If any issues arise over time, we'll be sure to update this review. So far, the Roidmi F8 has been working like a charm.
Result:
27 out of 30 points
We highly recommend this vacuum cleaner as one of the best in the under-$200 price range. Keep in mind that the Roidmi F8 comes in several versions, including the Roidmi F8S and Roidmi F8E. These models differ in their configuration and motor power, so be careful when choosing and ensure you're getting the right model.
