Xiaomi Lydsto G1Xiaomi Lydsto G1

Hello, readers! This review will examine a budget robot vacuum cleaner from the Xiaomi family, the Xiaomi Lydsto G1 Vacuum Cleaner. Lydsto is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. Their entry-level model, priced at around $200-$250, features a gyroscope for navigation, a dual-mopping function, and a proprietary mobile app. Below, I'll take a detailed look at and test the Lydsto G1, after which I'll share my opinion on whether it's worth buying. Let's get started!

The combined water and waste container is located at the rear of the unit. The waste compartment holds approximately 300 ml. It houses a triple filtration system consisting of a mesh filter, a foam filter, and a HEPA filter.

The water tank is the same capacity, holding 300 ml. The cloth is attached to the base with Velcro and pockets. An electronic pump for water flow control is installed inside.

What surprised me was that the cleaning cloth attachment is not removable. This means, according to the engineers, the robot should only be started with the cleaning cloth attached, which is inconvenient. If the cloth is removed, the Velcro straps will accumulate debris and quickly become unusable. Furthermore, this odd design significantly reduces the robot's maneuverability.

The robot is equipped with three fall protection sensors on the bottom. It also has two side brushes, each with a three-beam design and quick-release.

The central brush unit is non-floating. The brush is made of bristles and petals and cannot be disassembled. A power switch, protected from dust and moisture, is located behind the wheel.

Overall, there are some minor complaints about the Lydsto G1's design, as our tests will clearly demonstrate. However, the robot's build quality is on par with other Xiaomi models, despite its budget price.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of Lydsto G1, as stated by the manufacturer:

  • Battery: Li-Ion 2600 mAh
  • Suction power: up to 3300 Pa
  • Cleaning area: 60-80 sq.m.
  • Battery life: up to 120 min
  • Combined container: 300 + 300 ml
  • Obstacle clearance: up to 15 mm
  • Dimensions: 325*72 mm

Here, it is only important to highlight the increased suction power, which will certainly be verified in tests.

Functional capabilities

Let's move on to an overview of the Xiaomi Lydsto G1's features. Currently, the robot vacuum cleaner can only be controlled via the Lydsto app. Connection to Mi Home and syncing with Yandex.Alice are currently unavailable. However, the brand claims they are working on this. The app's interface is in Russian, which is a plus.

The robot vacuum cleaner's main control panel creates a map of the room but doesn't store it in its memory. Below the map are the main functions, including suction power and cloth wetting adjustments, spot cleaning, and perimeter cleaning. Below that are the functions for forcing the robot to return to the charging base and start/pause.

In the settings section, you can enable scheduled cleaning by selecting the time, days of the week, and customizing cleaning parameters. Manual control, voice alert volume adjustment, and language settings are also available. It's worth noting that the Xiaomi Lydsto G1 speaks Russian, which is a plus.

You can also set a time when the robot should not disturb you, share control with other users, view the cleaning log, track the status of consumables, and update the firmware if necessary.

It's also worth noting that the Lydsto G1 can automatically increase suction power when entering carpets and continue cleaning after recharging at the base, something not many vacuum cleaners can boast of. gyroscopic robots on the market. That's a plus!

Testing

Finally, let's move on to the tests, which will clearly demonstrate the robot's effectiveness. A detailed video review of the Lydsto G1, including all the tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Navigation

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the robot's navigation in a room with obstacles. After leaving the base, the Lydsto G1 traversed the entire accessible area in a zigzag pattern, then along the perimeter. It didn't clean the table legs or the box separately. However, it got stuck on the dryer, which was predictable, given the non-detachable cleaning pad attachment. I had to remove the dryer to finish the test. But more importantly, after I moved the robot, the map didn't get lost, and it continued cleaning, completing the cycle and returning to the base. It didn't re-enter the cleaned areas.

Navigating an Obstacle Room

As for navigation within the home, the algorithm is similar: first, the Lydsto G1 cleans the entire area in a serpentine pattern, then makes a perimeter check, and returns to the base. There are no uncleaned areas left. It's worth noting that this robot vacuum has excellent navigation, for a gyroscope-based model.

It's also important to note that the robot's low height allows it to clean under low furniture, something lidar models can't do. For some, this may be a significant advantage.

Suction power

But the actual suction power is standard, on par with robots that claim 2000-2500 Pa. The Lydsto G1 was able to suck up debris from a 2 mm gap, and even then, only in a small area. By comparison, the older model Lydsto G2, which was previously reviewed, with a declared power of 3000 Pa, was able to suck out debris from cracks up to 6 mm deep.

Dry cleaning

The quality of the collection of various types of debris on laminate flooring was good. Only corners remained unswept, which is a problem with most robotic vacuums. Some hair got tangled in the center and side brushes, and the cloth picked up some small debris. The test was passed successfully.

Carpet cleaning

Despite its unsuitable design, the Lydsto G1 is capable of removing hair and pet hair from medium-pile carpets. That's a plus. And remember, it even has an automatic power boost feature that increases power when driving on carpets.

Wet cleaning

This robot also copes with wiping away dirt, although it does leave streaks and a small, narrow area along the baseboard, so the cloth is more suitable for dust collection and delicate wet cleaning.

Wet cleaning

The good thing is that the Lydsto G1 can vacuum and mop the floor at the same time.

Wet cleaning and carpets

Regarding wet cleaning on carpets, the Lydsto G1, while detecting carpets, does not turn off the water supply to them or avoid them in wet cleaning mode. This is important to keep in mind.

Obstacle clearance

The manufacturer claims a cross-country ability of up to 15 mm. In reality, the robot doesn't cross even a 15 mm threshold on the first try, although it's capable of doing so. Therefore, it's safe to say that this model's cross-country ability isn't very good.

Driving on dark surfaces

But the robot is not afraid of dark surfaces and moves freely on them, which is a plus.

Noise level

Finally, we measured the Lydsto G1's noise level in different modes. With the suction disabled, it was between 57-58 dB. At minimum power, it remained within the same range. At medium power, the noise level rose to 60 dB, and at maximum power, the peak was 71 dB. This model's noise level was elevated only at maximum power.

Let's sum it up

The Xiaomi Lydsto G1 Vacuum Cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 50 out of 100 pointsThe result is good for a gyroscope robot vacuum. And considering that the evaluation takes into account a large number of premium features, this robot, given its price, objectively received a high rating. For example, its closest competitor Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop Essential scored 49 points, and the new budget employee iLIFE A80 PRO 46 points.

Overall rating of robot vacuum cleaners tested on robovac.washerhouse.com: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.

Now I'll share my personal opinion about the robot. I liked the following:

  1. Precise gyroscope.
  2. Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
  3. Good quality of waste collection on different surfaces.
  4. Small body height.
  5. Continue cleaning after charging at the base.
  6. Automatic power increase on carpets.
  7. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of dark floor coverings.
  8. Low noise level at minimum and medium power.
  9. Budget price (in some stores you can buy it for only $150).

Regarding its drawbacks, the main ones include the non-removable cleaning cloth holder and poor maneuverability. Also worth mentioning are occasional issues connecting to Mi Home. Otherwise, the robot is very good for the price. I would recommend this model primarily for cleaning hard floors. In the budget segment, it can seriously compete with most robots, including its main competitor, the Mijia G1, as well as the iLIFE series of robots.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
