Xiaomi Lydsto G2: A robot vacuum cleaner with a gyroscope, self-cleaning, and wet mopping.

In this review, I'll be looking at a new robot vacuum cleaner called the Xiaomi Lydsto G2 Inertial Navigation Sweep and Mop Robot. Lydsto is a sub-brand of Xiaomi, and I've previously tested a robot vacuum cleaner from this brand. The older model, called Lydsto R1The new robot, like its predecessor, boasts a self-cleaning station, dry and wet mopping functions, and app control. However, navigation is handled by a gyroscope rather than a lidar sensor, allowing for a slightly lower price: $350-$400, compared to the $400-$500 price tag of the older model. Below, I'll take a detailed look at and test the Lydsto G2, after which I'll share my opinion on whether this robot vacuum is worth buying. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The robot vacuum cleaner arrived for review in this branded box:
In addition to the robot itself and the waste unloading station, the delivery package includes:
- Wet cleaning nozzle with a microfiber cloth installed.
- Set of 5 disposable napkins.
- Spare bag for the station.
- Operating instructions in English.
- Spare foam and HEPA filter.
- Two spare side brushes.
- Robot cleaning tool.
The kit includes spare accessories for the robot's first few uses, which is good. Let's move on!
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Lydsto G2's design. Let's start with the robot vacuum itself. It's round and comes in both white and black. The body is 79 mm high from the floor.
Charging terminals are located at the rear and on either side of the dust collector. A soft-touch mechanical bumper is located at the front. Two control buttons are located on the top control panel: start/pause and forced return to the charging base.
The combined water and waste container is located at the rear of the unit. A shutter is visible for emptying waste from the dust bin into a bag located in the station. The dust bin holds up to 300 ml of dry waste, while the water tank holds 250 ml. The filtration system is triple: mesh, foam, and HEPA filters. A pump is installed inside the tank for electronically regulating the water flow.
The robot is equipped with four fall protection sensors on its underside. It has two side brushes: three-beam, quick-release.
The central brush has bristles and petals. Both sides can be removed to remove tangled hair and fur, which is a plus.
Water is supplied to the cleaning pad through three holes. The nozzle is secured with mechanical locks. It's also worth noting that the Lydsto G2's central brush unit is floating, allowing the brush to better adhere to various floor surfaces and, therefore, clean carpets better.
Now let's take a look at the docking station. It has a rather unusual design for the docking terminals. The prongs are located on the edges and equipped with rollers that help the robot dock with the docking station. The dust bag is located under the top cover. It's similar in structure and build quality to most other self-cleaning robot vacuums. It holds up to 3 liters of dry waste. It's also important to note that the docking station has an ionization feature, which prevents the waste from emitting odors. Furthermore, if wet waste gets into the docking station, the risk of mold is minimal.
Overall, there are no complaints about the build quality and design of the robot.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Xiaomi Lydsto G2, as stated by the manufacturer:
| Battery | Li-Ion 2600 mAh |
| Suction power | up to 3000 Pa |
| Cleaning area | up to 250 sq.m. |
| Battery life | up to 120 min |
| Combined container | 300+250 ml |
| Obstacle clearance | up to 20 mm |
| Dimensions | 350*79 mm |
Among the specifications, it's worth highlighting the increased suction power, which will certainly be verified during testing. The manufacturer also claims a cleaning area of 250 square meters. This figure is likely based on ideal conditions and minimum suction power. Considering the battery capacity and the fact that the gyroscope is responsible for navigation, I can say from experience that such robots will be effective in areas no larger than 80 square meters.
Functional capabilities
Let's move on to a review of the Xiaomi Lydsto G2's features. This robot vacuum cleaner is controlled via the Mi Home mobile app. It supports the Russian region, which is a plus. Connecting it was straightforward; just follow the manufacturer's instructions.
The robot's main control panel creates a map of the room but doesn't store it in its memory. Below the map are three functions: a section for adjusting suction power and water flow rate, a spot cleaning mode, and a perimeter cleaning mode. Below that are the functions for forcing the robot to return to the charging base and starting/pausing the cleaning process. In the settings section, you can set the desired time and days of the week for scheduled cleaning, enable manual control, adjust the volume, and select the language for voice notifications. The Lydsto G2 speaks Russian.
You can also specify a time when the robot should not disturb you, view the cleaning log (which, unfortunately, does not display generated maps), track the status of consumables, view the instructions online, change the robot's name, and, if necessary, share control with other users.
Additionally, the Lydsto G2 supports control via Yandex.Alice and automatically increases suction power when driving on carpeted surfaces. Overall, the functionality is quite standard, as for robot vacuum cleaner with a gyroscopeI didn't find any settings for the self-cleaning function, such as its frequency.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Xiaomi Lydsto G2, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel. I recommend watching the full video:
Navigation
Finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Lydsto G2's navigation in a room with obstacles. Initially, the robot vacuum traverses the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. It even managed to sweep around several chair legs and a box. However, when moving over the legs of a dryer, the robot got stuck and was unable to extricate itself. Therefore, this test was failed, although sweeping around objects will be taken into account when evaluating the robot.
Regarding home navigation, the Lydsto G2 divides the room into convenient zones and cleans them one by one in a serpentine pattern. In one room, the robot became confused and couldn't find its way out for a long time, eventually abandoning the map. After about ten minutes, it left the room, cleaned some more of the empty space, and automatically returned to the charging base. There were still a few uncleared zones, so I can conclude that this model has navigation issues.
Suction power
I was impressed with the suction power. The Lydsto G2 can vacuum up to 6 mm deep. This robot vacuum truly has increased suction power, which is a plus!
Dry cleaning of laminate flooring
The quality of debris collection on laminate flooring is above average. The robot vacuum is capable of picking up various types of debris, including pet hair and fur. A small amount of debris remains in corners, but this is a problem with most round robot vacuums. In any case, the test was a success!
Carpet cleaning
Speaking of carpet cleaning, the Lydsto G2 cleans carpets well with either of its center brushes. I have no complaints in this regard! It's also important to note that the robot vacuum automatically increases power on carpets. However, it does increase power slightly after a short delay, not immediately.
Wet cleaning
The wet cleaning performance is also above average. The robot vacuum is capable of picking up slightly dried-on dirt from the floor. It's unable to clean dirt right up to the baseboard, as is the case with all the other robots reviewed. Two small marks were also left on the display stand, but this is largely due to the robot not always reaching that area, which is again related to the navigation. However, the overall dirt removal performance is on par with the Dreame or Roborock.
It's also important to note that the Lydsto G2 can vacuum and mop at the same time, which is a plus!
Regarding wet cleaning on carpeted floors, the robot vacuum cleaner cannot automatically avoid carpets in wet cleaning mode, and water flow does not stop on carpets. This is important to keep in mind. It's also important to note that the water flow cannot be completely turned off when the attachment is installed; you can only set the water flow to a minimum level.
Self-cleaning quality
The Lydsto G2's self-cleaning performance was also tested. It performed well. It left a small amount of debris in the container, but not always. There are no complaints in this regard.
Obstacle clearance
Speaking of cross-country ability, in our tests the Lydsto G2 was able to cross a 2 cm threshold even with the cleaning pad attached, which is a plus.
Driving on dark surfaces
Another advantage of the robot vacuum cleaner is that it is not afraid of black surfaces and moves freely over them.
Noise level
Finally, we measured the Lydsto G2's noise level in different modes. In "Quiet" mode, the noise level is between 61-63 dB, in Standard mode it rises to 70-71.5 dB, in "Power" mode, or more accurately, "Strong," the noise level reaches 74 dB, and at maximum power, the peak was 74.5 dB. This model's noise level is higher, but so is its suction power, which is related.
Personal opinion
Xiaomi Lydsto G2 has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 59 out of 100 points. And this is an excellent result, as for a robot vacuum cleaner with a gyroscopic action. Only Cecotec Conga 2290 Ultra, which is also capable of self-cleaning when a gyroscope is installed for navigation.
Overall rating of robot vacuum cleaners tested on robovac.washerhouse.com: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.
I'll share my personal opinion about the robot vacuum cleaner I tested after getting to know it thoroughly. I liked the following:
- Increased suction power.
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- The presence of a self-cleaning station, which has demonstrated high efficiency.
- Good quality of cleaning.
- Small body height.
- The robot is not afraid of dark floor coverings.
- Full Russification, including voice notifications.
- Yandex.Alice support.
As for shortcomings, my main concern is navigation. Over large areas, the gyroscope loses orientation, and the robot can repeatedly pass over areas it's already been to, or, conversely, leave behind untreated areas. Minor issues:
- Delayed increase in power on carpets.
- The fact that the robot can get stuck on the dryer's feet.
If these concerns aren't critical for you, but you're looking for an affordable self-cleaning robot vacuum cleaner for areas no larger than 80 square meters, or better yet, 40-60 square meters, you might want to consider this model. The gyroscope can navigate well within two or three rooms. Furthermore, when cleaning an area of up to 80 square meters and with a small amount of carpet, the bag will last for a month. This is a plus if you're buying the robot for a senior home!
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!

Thank you so much! You helped me decide on a robot vacuum cleaner. I'm very grateful for your help!
Hello. Could you please tell me about the Xiaomi Home Appliance Lydsto G2D robot vacuum cleaner? Is it the same as the Lydsto G2, but without the self-cleaning station? I'm trying to find a vacuum cleaner and I'm really confused.
In theory, yes)
Good day. I have a question about the station's trash bags. Are the trash bags disposable or reusable? If reusable, how do you empty the trash? If disposable, where do I buy them?
The bags are disposable. You can buy them on the filterix website, on Ali, on marketplaces, and many other places. You can carefully clean them yourself through the hole.
Good afternoon
We bought the specified device, and everything met our expectations. We just had a problem with the self-cleaning function. It worked only once after the first cleaning, but after that, it absolutely wouldn't. I couldn't find a solution anywhere. I must have been looking in the wrong place.
How long does it take to charge? It rides for five minutes and looks for a charger, I clean it and it sits there, the yellow-green lights blink for half an hour, I turn it on, five minutes and then it charges again...
Can you tell me when firmware updates will be available for this vacuum? Please share, I don't want to change it, and I really wanted it because of the voice-activated firmware updates. :D
Hello, can you tell me when the voice pack firmware will be available for this vacuum cleaner?
I don't have such information.
Hello! How long does it take to charge the vacuum cleaner? How do I know when it's charged?
The robot says charging is complete. It takes us 2 hours to charge.
Hello! Could you please tell me, this is my first robot vacuum cleaner; I bought it thanks to your website. The settings show some kind of indicator saying 83% battery remaining. The vacuum is only a week old. What is this? Where can I buy it, and how do I replace it?
Just wipe the sensors on the bumper (black glass) or underneath (around the perimeter under the bumper) and reset them. It is recommended to clean this from dust.
I can't see the Wi-Fi and can't connect to the robot. Please help me figure this out.
Good afternoon, I bought this vacuum cleaner, but I have instructions in English and in some other languages, but not in Russian. Where can I download printed instructions for
Iydsto g2x? I can't find it anywhere.
It's a good vacuum cleaner, but when contacting Xiaomi support about a malfunction, they say Lydsto has nothing to do with them; look for an official Lydsto representative.
