In November 2020, information about a new Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner from the Mijia line surfaced: the Xiaomi Mijia 1T Sweeping Robot (STYTJ02ZHM), also known as the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 2 Pro+. This robot attracted interest for two reasons. First and foremost, the mechanical bumper features a sensor system with a ToF camera, which allows the robot vacuum cleaner to detect objects on the floor and avoid them while cleaning. According to the manufacturer, the Mijia 1T can detect wires, small objects, and even pet surprises. All of these can interfere with cleaning. Secondly, its suction power reaches 3000 Pa, improving cleaning performance even further. Below, I'll take a detailed look at and test the Xiaomi Mijia 1T, after which I'll share my opinion on whether this robot vacuum cleaner is worth buying. The price of this model, by the way, starts at $210, which is more expensive than its closest analogues. Mijia 1C And Dreame F9I ordered the robot from the TookFun store on AliExpress. So, let's get started with the review!

Equipment

The Xiaomi Mijia 1T's package contents are rather sparse. In addition to the robot vacuum cleaner itself, the box contains:

  1. Charging base.
  2. Power adapter with Chinese plug.
  3. Power adapter with European plug.
  4. The operating instructions and a quick start guide for the robot are in Chinese, as in my case, the robot is a version for the Chinese market.
  5. Tool for cleaning the central brush.

The characteristics are competitive, especially the suction power, which will definitely be tested further.

Functional capabilities

Let's move on to a review of the Xiaomi Mijia 1T's features. The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled via the proprietary Mi Home mobile app. My version doesn't support the Russian region, so I couldn't connect. After selecting the Chinese region, the robot also had a few problems connecting, but finally managed to connect successfully after several attempts.

Control via app

On the main control panel, the robot vacuum cleaner creates a map of the room, saves it in memory, and divides it into rooms. In the main settings section, you can enable map saving mode and set up a cleaning schedule by selecting the time, days of the week, and suction power. Unfortunately, you can't select specific rooms for cleaning. You can also enable automatic power boost on carpets, continue cleaning after recharging at the base, and select a time when you don't want the robot to disturb you.

You can also disable notifications and select the language for voice alerts. The Xiaomi Mijia 1T version I received for review supports voice alerts in Chinese and English, so it's best to disable them entirely. The menu also includes a cleaning log, a section displaying the status of consumables, a manual control mode, and a search function for the robot vacuum cleaner based on its sound.

In the area editor, you can combine multiple rooms into one or, conversely, divide a room into separate zones. Below is a section that allows you to set virtual walls, general no-go zones, and no-go zones for wet cleaning mode only on the map.

If necessary, you can change the robot's name, share control with other users, and update the firmware version.

On the main control panel, the bottom two buttons initiate automatic cleaning mode and force the robot to return to the charging base. Swiping up on the screen reveals a window for adjusting the suction power and water flow rate.

On the map itself, you can also indicate a point for local cleaning by the robot or select the desired rooms for cleaning.

This is all the app's functionality; the main features are implemented. It's important to note that the Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mijia 1T cannot connect to Yandex Alice, so please keep this in mind.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Xiaomi Mijia 1T, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on our channel. We recommend watching the video:

Navigation

Let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check the Mijia 1T's navigation in a room with obstacles. First, the robot vacuum cleaner traverses the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. Thanks to the front ToF sensor, the robot really barely touches objects. It didn't wipe around the box or chair legs, but it did make a second pass between the chair legs. It didn't get stuck on the dryer legs. After traversing the entire area in a serpentine pattern, the Xiaomi Mijia 1T switched to perimeter traversal and, once the cleaning process was complete, returned to the charging base. Navigation is decent, but not the best. chamber robotic vacuum cleaners.

Now let's test how well the Mijia 1T detects objects on the floor. The robot failed to detect a sock and ended up chewing it, after which it couldn't continue cleaning. I removed it to continue the test. Simulated pet feces were also not detected. Ultimately, the robot did a relatively good job of detecting the charging cable on the floor, as well as small objects like a sneaker and a toy. However, it did touch them during cleaning.

Identifying objects on the floor

I also decided to test whether the Xiaomi Mijia 1T could detect feces on a light-colored floor. No, it failed even under these conditions. So, in my opinion, the object detection test failed. I don't see the point in overpaying for this feature. in this robot vacuum cleaner.

As for overall navigation accuracy, there were also issues. The bumper sensor system behaves very strangely on fluffy carpets, resulting in the robot's navigation algorithm becoming erratic. You can see this for yourself. This issue doesn't occur on hard floors.

Navigation within the homeNavigation within the home

Navigation within the home

Overall, the robot was able to navigate the entire area, first in a zigzag pattern and then along the perimeter, cleaning room after room. However, some uncleaned areas remained on the carpet, meaning the Xiaomi Mijia 1T's sensor system does more harm than good. My overall impression of the navigation is largely negative. However, it's a fact that the robot is more accurate than its closest competitors, such as the Mijia 1C and Dreame F9. Perhaps the carpet issue will be fixed in the future, and then I won't have any complaints about the navigation.

Suction power

Regarding suction power, despite the stated 3000 Pa, the robot can only vacuum from a 2 mm deep gap, so these figures are likely a marketing ploy. In reality, the Xiaomi Mijia 1T's suction power is comparable to that of similar robots with 2000-2500 Pa.

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

The quality of debris collection on laminate floors was above average. However, due to the camera, the robot spent more time on unnecessary movements, but the majority of the debris was collected. Only a small amount of debris remained in the corners, which round robots cannot reach.

Cleaning the carpet

When it comes to cleaning carpets, the Xiaomi Mijia 1T does a good job and thoroughly cleans them. There are no complaints in this regard.

Wet cleaning

And the cleaning performance for light stains is above average, as with other robots in the Xiaomi line. A small area along the baseboard was left uncleaned, but this is a problem with all robot vacuums these days.

Wet cleaningWet cleaning

Wet cleaning

But this robot is suitable for delicate wet cleaning in a house or apartment. The cloth is moderately dampened, leaving no puddles on the floor, leaving an even mark, and most importantly, no streaks after the robot passes. Furthermore, the robot vacuum cleaner can vacuum and mop the floor simultaneously. So, the test passes.

Obstacle clearance

This model has good obstacle clearance. The robot navigates two-centimeter thresholds without any problem.

Driving on dark surfaces

The Xiaomi Mijia 1T, however, is wary of the black mat, avoiding it while cleaning. Unfortunately, this is a problem with all Xiaomi robots.

Noise level

Finally, let's check the Xiaomi Mijia 1T's noise levels in different modes. At minimum suction power, the noise level is between 57-60 dB, while at standard power, it reaches 61 dB. In intensive cleaning mode, the noise level can reach 63 dB, and in Turbo mode, the peak noise level was 65 dB. This robot vacuum cleaner is not very noisy compared to similar devices.

Let's sum it up

Xiaomi Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 2 Pro+ (Mijia 1T) has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he was able to dial 57 out of 100 points, which is 10 points less than the Dreame F9, which I tested earlier and is one of the main competitors at around $170. I also deducted 2 points from the Mijia 1T for poor app performance on the Chinese server and the fact that the frontal sensor system does more harm than good. Let's take a closer look at the pros and cons.

Among the advantages of the robot I would like to highlight:

  1. Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
  2. Large dust collector and water tank.
  3. Good obstacle clearance.
  4. Useful features for working with the map, namely: support for no-go zones, virtual walls, and selecting rooms for cleaning.
  5. Capacious battery.
  6. The quality of dry and wet cleaning is above average.

As for the disadvantages, there are also quite a few of them and in my opinion they are more significant:

  1. The robot has trouble identifying objects on the floor.
  2. The object detection system degrades the robot's movement algorithm on carpets.
  3. In the Chinese region the application freezes.
  4. When setting up a cleaning schedule, you cannot select the rooms to clean.
  5. Poor equipment.
  6. The robot is afraid of dark surfaces.

So, ultimately, I don't see the point in buying the Xiaomi Mijia 1T at this price. The extra cost is justified by the presence of an object detection system compared to the Mijia 1C and Dreame F9, its main competitors. However, the object detection algorithm doesn't work correctly and does more harm than good to the cleaning process. Furthermore, the suction power wasn't actually that powerful.

So I recommend saving and choosing the predecessors or adding a little and choosing Dreame Bot L10 Pro, which costs around $300 and is equipped with lidar, a 3D sensor that's much better at identifying objects on the floor, and a powerful motor. This makes it a more attractive option for the price.

You can order Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners from the Tookfun store on AliExpress, which is where I ordered this one. There were no issues with delivery.

I'd like to end this review on that note. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone!

They sent me this vacuum cleaner, and the instructions say 4800W power. How do I deal with that? It's still in the box, so I need to return it. The price is a hefty 348 euros. What should I get? 60m2, 3 rooms, carpets, laminate, linoleum. Any advice?
