Gadget U100: What Can a $50 Window Cleaning Robot Do?

The $50 Gadget U100 window cleaning robot, which is its current price at the time of writing, boasts a well-equipped package, a slim 59mm body, a pleasing design, and several operating modes. So, below, I'll show you what this $50 window cleaning robot can do and whether it's worth the money. I'd appreciate a subscription and a like after watching the video. Let's get started!
Equipment
The robot arrived in this branded box:
The package includes:
- The window cleaner himself with a safety rope attached to him.
- Power supply with 4-meter extension cord and a separate cord for connection to the socket.
- Remote control with batteries.
- 20 replacement microfiber cloths.
- Two spare cleaning rings.
- Spray bottle for wetting wipes.
- Operating instructions.
- Universal brush for washing smooth surfaces.
Excellent kit for the price of the robot. It comes with 10 pairs of reusable wipes!
Appearance
Now let's look at how the U100 gadget is designed. It's oval-shaped, so the cleaning module consists of two round pads.
The body's height is 59 mm, which is a very good height. The robot can be used for cleaning windows with bars and other surfaces with limited clearance for easy access.
A safety cable with a carabiner is attached to the body out of the box. A mechanical power on/off button and indicator lights indicating the robot's status are located on top.
The recesses in the case provide a comfortable grip, and they also house ventilation holes for air exhaust. On the back are duplicate status indicators.
The napkins are of a familiar design. The holders are easily removed and reinstalled from the robot.
Here's how the universal brush included in the kit works:
It folds easily and is equipped with a hinge that rotates in one plane.

Compared to the most budget-friendly of the brand's W-series - Gadget W100, the robot has become more compact and at the same time even a little more powerful.
Functions
The window cleaning robot is controlled using the included remote control. It features buttons for stopping the cleaning process, starting/pausing, manual control, and three automatic modes: up-then-down, left-down, and right-down. There is no dual-pass mode.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Gadget U100, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Navigation and window cleaning quality
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check how the U100 handles its primary task – cleaning windows from the outside. We'll also be able to evaluate its navigation on a narrow window with a sash width of just 38 cm.
The robot's first pass over the windows collects all the dirt. It's recommended not to wet the wipes to reduce the risk of smearing dirt across the glass. For the second pass, you can spray a little water or cleaning solution onto the wipes, following the instructions.
Let's compare the condition of the windows before and after:
I would like to point out that there were no missed areas and the robot was able to clean a 38 cm wide window, while the stated minimum window size is 50*50 cm.
Here I will just note that the weak point of all window cleaning robots without exception, including this one, is that corners remain unwashed due to the design features of the cleaning module.
The window cleaning quality is on par with similar products. It also navigates large windows without any problems, leaving no missed areas! There are no complaints about the navigation!
Application on other surfaces
This robot can also be used to clean tiled walls, shower stalls and mirrors.
I'll specifically mention washing frameless surfaces. The robot didn't fall off the mirror, but sometimes the holder would extend too far to the edge, and it felt like it was about to lose its grip. Overall, I wouldn't use this model on frameless surfaces. Incidentally, the manufacturer also doesn't recommend using the Gadget U100 on frameless windows or other surfaces.
This window cleaning robot can't function properly on horizontal surfaces, for those interested. The navigation algorithm is flawed. But most window cleaning robots fail at this task.
Emergency mode
Let me explain how the Gadget U100 operates in emergency mode. When disconnected from the power supply, the robot starts beeping and a red indicator light flashes on both sides of the robot. Here's how it works:
An indicator light and a buzzer will help you quickly detect problems and remove the robot from the surface to prevent it from falling and breaking. Remember, it's essential to secure the safety rope to prevent the robot from falling from a height when cleaning windows from the outside.
Let's sum it up
The Dadget U100 window cleaning robot was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll summarize and share my personal opinion of the robot after using it. I liked the following:
- Good quality window cleaning.
- The robot has a thin body, which allows it to be used on windows with bars.
- Good navigation.
- Suitable for washing narrow windows.
- The robot's versatility. It's suitable for cleaning not only windows, but also glass doors, mirrors, and wall tiles.
- The package is very good. For the price, 20 replacement pads and a universal folding brush are fantastic!
- Affordable price.
- Warranty and service are included. And they offer a 3-year warranty, which is pretty cool!
As for the shortcomings, the following were found:
- It doesn't wash into the corners.
- Does not work on horizontal surfaces.
- Not suitable for washing frameless surfaces.
- There is no automatic water supply function.
Regarding the comments, the first three are typical for most robotic window cleaners. The last one is a specific one, due to the very affordable price of the new product. Considering the price and the fact that the robot comes with an official warranty, I consider the Dadget U100 a good option for those on a budget. It cleans windows just as well as many similar products, making it a great helper!
Definitely worth your attention and highly recommended. I'd like to end this review on that note. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
