Deerma T10W: A budget-friendly upright vacuum cleaner with backlighting and three attachments

Hello to all readers of robovac.washerhouse.com! In this review, I'll be looking at an affordable upright vacuum cleaner called the Deerma DEM-T10W. Priced between $80 and $100, this cordless vacuum boasts a claimed suction power of 20,000 Pa and comes with three attachments, including a cleaning zone light in the main attachment. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Deerma DEM-T10W, highlight its pros and cons, and then share my opinion. Let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Main block.
- Extension tube.
- Basic floor nozzle.
- Furniture cleaning attachment.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Wall holder with fasteners.
- Power adapter.
- Instructions in Russian.
The only thing I'm missing here is a turbo brush attachment for cleaning mattresses and upholstery. Let's move on!
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the design of the Deerma DEM-T10W. Let's start with the main unit. It's black and white. It houses a 260-watt motor, generating up to 20,000 Pa of suction.
Unfortunately, the battery is not removable. Two mechanical control buttons are conveniently located on the body, just a thumb's reach away from the power button and a switch between the two operating modes. There are two status indicator lights, but no display. The charger is connected to the vacuum cleaner manually, and the power connector is located on the back.
The dust collector is removable. It contains a filtration system featuring a HEPA 13 filter, a foam filter, a simple cyclone, and a blow-out foam filter hidden inside the housing.
Let's take a look at the included attachments. The main floor nozzle features a swivel joint, a bright green front light, and a roller with short bristles. The roller can be removed without tools by pressing a release button. Behind it are combs for detangling hair and pet hair.
Two additional attachments are standard and suitable for spot cleaning, such as surface cleaning of furniture and interior items, as well as for cleaning hard-to-reach areas.
The wall holder, in my opinion, is oddly designed. It only holds two extra attachments from the kit.
However, the vacuum cleaner itself cannot be hung on the holder, as the main unit lacks the appropriate hooks. The manufacturer suggests simply placing the vacuum cleaner vertically on the holder, which is not always convenient or secure.
Please note that vertical parking outside the rack is not provided. The pros and cons of this design will be discussed in the final review. Let's move on!
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of Deerma DEM-T10W, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Power consumption: 260 W.
- Suction power: up to 20,000 Pa.
- Li-Ion battery 2200 mAh.
- Operating time up to 40 min.
- Dust collector: 270 ml.
- Noise level 80-84 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 3.05 kg.
I personally measured the vacuum cleaner's noise level. It ranged from 72 to 79 dB, which is a typical result.
The main unit weighs 1,059 grams, the extension tube 261 grams, and the main floor nozzle 526 grams. The fully assembled vacuum weighs 1,846 grams. It's very light compared to similar vacuums.
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the battery life of the Deerma DEM-T10W at maximum power with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed to run for 10 minutes and 43 seconds, which is a typical result.
Suction power
Regarding suction power, the vacuum cleaner was able to partially remove debris from crevices up to 10 mm deep at level 1. At level 2, it managed to clean crevices up to 18 mm deep, but it didn't reach the 20 mm mark. So, in reality, the vacuum cleaner's power is average. It's sufficient for household cleaning.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the vacuum cleaner picks up debris from the floor. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, cat litter pellets, and other small household debris. The vacuum cleaner managed to pick up all the debris from the floor, including the corners. The only caveat is that to pick up larger debris, you have to lift the nozzle slightly, as the front part doesn't capture large particles, but simply pushes them aside. Not very convenient.
Carpet cleaning
The vacuum cleaner performs just as well as its competitors when it comes to cleaning carpets, capable of cleaning not only carpet but also medium-pile carpets. This is thanks to the elastic bristles in the turbo brush, which thoroughly clean the pile. However, large debris can only be picked up by lifting the nozzle.
And here is the condition of the turbo brush after all the tests:
You can see that the bristle inserts are picking up some hair, but the bulk of it was still thrown into the dust collector.
I also tested how the attachment handled untangling hair and fur from the roller. Similarly, some hair was collected in the dust bin, while some was tangled around the brush. So, the combs only partially solve the untangling problem.
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the two additional attachments allow you to superficially clean sofa upholstery, clean areas the main attachment can't reach, and even clean the inside of a car if necessary. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.
Cleaning the dust collector
Finally, I'll tell you how to clean the dust container. To do this, you need to detach the dust container from the main unit, remove the filtration system, and shake out the contents from the container. Your hands don't come into contact with the debris, so I have no complaints.
Personal opinion
The Deerma DEM-T10W cordless stick vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my thoughts. I liked the following:
- Favorable price.
- Illumination of the cleaning area in the floor nozzle.
- Efficiently collects debris on various surfaces without blind spots.
- Removable dust collector.
- Multi-stage filtration system.
- Convenient one-hand control.
- Light weight when fully assembled.
- Availability of warranty and service.
Among the disadvantages I would like to highlight:
- There is no turbo brush attachment for cleaning mattresses and upholstered furniture.
- Non-removable battery.
- No display.
- No vertical parking.
- To collect large debris from the floor, you need to lift the nozzle, as there are no technological openings in the front for the passage of large debris.
- You can't hang the vacuum cleaner on a wall bracket. You can only prop it up against the wall.
Overall, considering the price, the first three comments are quite expected and not critical. However, the second half of the comments are specific to this vacuum cleaner. If they aren't critical for you, I see no reason not to recommend it. The Deerma DEM-T10W upright vacuum cleaner is lightweight, convenient, and affordable, which will be enough for many.
