Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN: The 2022 Flagship Killer

Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CNXiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN

The Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN is one of the most anticipated and highly-anticipated robot vacuum cleaners of 2022. Priced at around $700-750, just listen to what this device has to offer. It features not only a lidar sensor but also a sensor system for detecting objects on the floor. The cleaning module consists of a side and central brush, behind which are two rotating microfiber cloths. These cloths can automatically lift when entering carpets. Furthermore, the robot vacuum cleaner itself is equipped with a station that automatically cleans, rinses the cloths, and dries with hot air. Overall, this is a top-of-the-line solution that significantly simplifies maintenance and improves cleaning performance. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Mijia Omni and then express my opinion on how well it performs its primary function and whether it can be considered the best in its price segment. So, let's get started!

Equipment

The delivery set, in addition to the robot and station itself, includes:

  1. Power adapter with adapter for European socket.
  2. Operating instructions in Chinese.
  3. Spare bag for the station.
  4. And a tool for cleaning the robot.

Appearance

Let's take a look at the Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN. I'll immediately note that at first glance, it's an exact replica. Dreame Bot L10s UltraBut it's worth noting that the Mijia Omni was released six months earlier. The differences are minimal, but they exist, and we'll discuss them later.

Let's start our review with the robot vacuum cleaner itself. It's white and has a round body. Its height is 97 mm from the floor.

The control panel has two mechanical buttons. The lidar is equipped with a spring-loaded cover that prevents the robot from getting stuck under furniture. The dust container is located under the top cover. The manufacturer allows the container and HEPA filter to be washed with water, which is a plus. The filtration system uses a mesh filter and a HEPA filter. The water tank is hidden inside the body and holds up to 80 ml of water. Water is pumped into the robot automatically at the station.

The central brush unit is floating. The brush itself is made of bristles and petals. Both sides can be removed to remove tangled hair and fur.

Central brush

Useful life hack! If needed, you can order a silicone center brush for the Dreame Boе L10s Ultra and install it in this robot. This brush makes it easier to clean tangled hair and pet hair. However, you'll need to order not only the brush but also the cover, as the stock Xiaomi one tends to squeeze the silicone brush. Still, it's great that there's a replacement option!

The napkin holders are attached with magnets. The napkins, in turn, are attached to the holders with Velcro. The napkin lifting mechanism is achieved by twisting and unscrewing the platforms themselves. The lifting height can reach up to 7 mm.

Now that we've sorted out the robot, let's move on to the station. As with the Dreame, the platform isn't removable, but the cleaning module for the wipes themselves is removable. Beneath it is a flat surface that's easy to wipe clean.

Above, behind a mechanically secured lid, is a self-cleaning dust bag. It holds up to 2.5 liters of dry waste.

Under the station's top cover are the dirty and clean water tanks. They are standard, holding 2.5 liters each. There is no space for a detergent reservoir, unlike the Dreame Bot L10s Ultra, its twin.

Mijia Omni Station B101CNMijia Omni Station B101CN

Station

Speaking of drying, the wipes are dried with hot air for two hours. This is enough time to dry them and prevent unpleasant odors from spreading throughout the room.

Now for an important detail. The Mijia Omni B101CN has a factory-installed issue. It's not the same for everyone, but I had one. When the robot first starts up, the wipes aren't moistened. It could be an airlock, or the pump is weak, as reported on forums. But the fact remains: the station buzzes and tries to dispense water, but nothing happens. There are two ways to solve this. The first is to use the app to force-rinse the wipes up to five times in a row. Around the fifth time, water starts flowing, and the problem is solved. The second, as I did, is to disconnect the tube in the clean water tank, remove the filter, and when the robot tries to rinse the wipes, use a syringe or your mouth, after filling it with water, to blow water into the tube. The pump will start, and the problem is completely solved. It's not a very pleasant situation, but fortunately, it can be solved without having to go to a service center. Incidentally, according to reviews, the Dreame has the same problem. But for example, I didn't have any problems. It's a lottery, basically.

Overall, apart from the issue with the pump, there are no particular complaints about the robot.

Robot vacuum cleaner:

  • Li-Ion battery 5200 mAh.
  • Suction power up to 4000 Pa.
  • Cleaning area up to 200 sq.m.
  • Dust collector capacity is 350 ml.
  • The water tank capacity is 80 ml.

  • Clean water tank: 2.5 l.
  • Dirty water tank: 2.5 l.
  • Bag in the station: 2.5 l.
  • Dimensions: 423*340*568 mm.

The only important thing to check here is the suction power. The rest of the specifications are quite standard.

Functional capabilities

Speaking of controls, the robot vacuum cleaner is designed for the Chinese market and therefore connects to Mi Home via the China region. However, I can say that the interface is in Russian and the app itself surprisingly runs smoothly, which is a big plus for the Chinese Xiaomi. The only downside is the lack of a Russian voice pack, but that's not a deal-breaker.

The Mijia Omni B101CN functions are displayed on the screen:

  • Self-cleaning.
  • Rinsing napkins at the station.
  • Drying napkins with hot air.
  • Identifying objects on the floor.
  • Saving multiple cleaning maps in memory.
  • 3D map of the room.
  • Automatic zoning of premises into rooms.
  • Selecting areas and rooms for cleaning.
  • Virtual walls and no-go zones (and for wet cleaning mode).
  • Suction power adjustment.
  • Setting the frequency of rinsing wipes (by room, every 20 sq.m.).
  • User mode.
  • Cleaning log.

FunctionsFunctions

Functions

There are quite a few options. In my opinion, the only thing that's not quite right is the wipes' rinse cycle. There's no option to select a different area, and 20 square meters is quite a large range. Even 15 square meters would have been a better solution.

This model doesn't have remote home monitoring. It only automatically detects objects on the floor. You can disable this feature if, for example, the robot starts driving in circles or avoiding the carpets. However, I didn't encounter this issue during testing.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN has already been prepared and published on the channel. I recommend watching the video:

Navigation

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Mijia Omni's navigation in a room with obstacles. The robot vacuum first moves around the perimeter of the room, then cleans the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. It detected the feet of the dryer and carefully navigated around them. It also swept around the box and chair legs separately, before returning to the station. The test was successful.

Navigating an Obstacle Room

Speaking of navigation within the house, the robot vacuum cleaner cleans room by room, following the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. Every 20 square meters, as I determined, it returns to the station and rinses the wipes, then resumes cleaning from where it left off. Ultimately, the apartment was cleaned with two intermediate trips to the station. There were no uncleaned areas; this model has excellent navigation!

Recognizing objects on the floor

This robot's daytime object detection system is well-implemented. It was able to accurately avoid all six objects on the floor, including a simulated pet surprise. However, certain objects are not marked with corresponding icons on the map. Therefore, it's doubtful that the robot vacuum actually recognizes them. At least, there's no confirmation of this, compared to the Dreame.

Recognizing objects on the floor during the day

In complete darkness, the object detection system becomes blind, and the robot fell into almost every trap. Fortunately, it didn't get stuck or make an error. Keep this in mind.

Suction power

Speaking of suction power, the Mijia Omni pleasantly surprised me. It was able to suck up debris even from a 10mm gap, which is amazing!

Suction powerSuction power

Suction power

By comparison, the Dreame Bot L10s Ultra only managed to suck up debris from a 4mm gap, and barely even that. So, the Mijia Omni is far more powerful!

Dry cleaning

The collection quality of various types of debris on laminate flooring is good. Only a small amount of debris remains in corners, where round robotic vacuums can't reach. All debris is collected in the dust bin.

Dry cleaningDry cleaning

Dry cleaning

It's important to note that the bristle-petal turbo brush has picked up some hair and fur. However, if you use the Dreame silicone brush, the cleaning performance will be the same, but the brush will be much cleaner. Consider this. It's an interesting way to upgrade your robot.

Carpet cleaning

The same debris was scattered on the carpet, and the Mijia Omni did a great job. Test successful!

Wet cleaning and carpets

When wet cleaning on carpeted floors, you can choose between two robot behaviors. The first is to automatically lift the pads when entering carpets, allowing the robot to simultaneously vacuum and mop, leaving the carpets dry and clean. The second option is to enable automatic carpet avoidance in wet cleaning mode. This is especially useful for high- and medium-pile carpets, preventing the pad from coming into contact with the carpet if necessary.

Wiping off dirt

This robot vacuum cleaner removes dirt efficiently, taking into account several intermediate trips to the cleaning station to rinse the cloths. This is the main advantage of such robots. Dirt is not ground into the floor during the entire cleaning process. Consequently, in just a few passes, the robot can actually clean the floor, not just mop it. As expected, a narrow section of the floor along the baseboard remained unwashed because the cloths don't extend to the edges. This is a problem with all the robot vacuum cleaners tested.

Removing difficult stains

I didn't test the cleaning performance of tough stains. Firstly, I wanted to publish the review before the sale, as many people had requested. This would have added at least another day to the shooting time while the stains dried. Secondly, cleaning sauce off a robot vacuum cleaner is very difficult. And most importantly, the cleaning module is identical to the Dreame's, a perfect match. I can say that the cloths on these robots don't press very hard, so they have a hard time removing tough stains. Especially without detergent, as with the Mijia Omni. Overall, you can see the results of this test in the Dreame review and expect similar results from Xiaomi.

Rinsing quality of wipes

Now, I'd like to test the effectiveness of the station itself. Let's start with the rinsing quality of the wipes. In everyday use, after washing the floor, the wipes aren't in too bad a condition. And after rinsing, I can say they're actually clean. A minimal amount of dirt is removed under the pressure of warm water. That's a plus!

But during my testing, after the dirt test, the robot did a very poor job of rinsing the cloth. The water pressure washed away a lot of dirt, which is odd. Perhaps there was another pump issue. I'm not sure.

Here's how easy it is to clean the platform at the station after complex tests:

Washing the platform at the stationWashing the platform at the station

The service is hassle-free!

Self-cleaning quality

The self-cleaning performance of the dust bin is near perfect. I ran the robot vacuum in a room with a lot of debris. It cleaned everything, and we saw that the dust bin was completely filled with debris, including pet hair. We returned the robot vacuum to the docking station and saw that the bin was completely empty after self-cleaning. This robot's self-cleaning is excellent!

Obstacle clearance

The Mijia Omni easily moves over 2 cm high thresholds, lifting the napkins along the way. That's a plus!

Driving on black surfaces

It's also not afraid of black surfaces, easily driving on completely black carpet. This is another advantage of the robot!

Noise level

Regarding the noise level, with the suction off, it ranges from 58-60 dB. At standard power, the noise level rises to 61 dB. In "Strong" mode, the noise level rises to 63-64 dB, and at maximum power, the peak was 73 dB. Yes, the noise level is high at maximum power, but so is the suction power, which is related.

Personal opinion

The Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 165 points and enter the top three tested robotic vacuum cleaners in 2022. It was slightly behind its main competitors Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and the Dreame Bot L10s Ultra. But, folks, the price is half that, and that's a very compelling argument in Xiaomi's favor! As always, though.

First, let's talk about the robot's pros and cons, then I'll share my overall impressions after testing it. I liked the following:

  1. Accurately identifies objects on the floor during the daytime.
  2. Combined station for self-cleaning and rinsing of wipes.
  3. Effective drying of napkins with hot air.
  4. High-quality self-cleaning and rinsing of wipes.
  5. High-quality dry and wet cleaning on any surface.
  6. Very high suction power.
  7. The robot vacuum cleaner is capable of vacuuming and washing the floor at the same time.
  8. Two rotating cloths remove dirt better.
  9. Automatic lifting of napkins when driving onto carpets.
  10. Convenient station maintenance.
  11. A large number of functions for flexible adjustment of cleaning parameters.
  12. Good cross-country ability.
  13. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of black floor coverings.
  14. Low noise level.
  15. If necessary, you can purchase and install a silicone turbo brush instead of the bristle-petal one.
  16. Optimal price considering the possibilities.

Speaking about the disadvantages, the following were discovered during testing, compared with similar products:

  1. Right out of the box, there were some issues with the water supply when rinsing the wipes. Fortunately, this can be resolved.
  2. In complete darkness, the object recognition system becomes blind.
  3. The robot vacuum cleaner does not sweep out debris in the corners.
  4. Doesn't scrub the narrow area along the baseboard.
  5. There is no possibility to connect the station to the sewerage and water supply.
  6. There is no local warranty or service.

Regarding the last point, the new Mijia OMNI 1S has already been released. Its station connects to both the sewer and water supply and is equipped with a detergent tank, just like the Dreame. Moreover, the robot is priced the same. Therefore, for those who care about this, it's worth ordering the updated model. Here's the link:

Otherwise, the shortcomings are either typical of similar products or forgivable given the price. In any case, in my opinion, the Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN is definitely the best robot vacuum cleaner under $800 in 2022. Or at least under $500. It's powerful, neat, and does a good job of both cleaning and self-cleaning. Overall, it's definitely a top-tier model for the price, and in my subjective opinion, it's a more interesting model compared to its closest competitors, the Roidmi EVA and Lydsto W2. At least considering its very high real-world power, its object detection system, its ability to lift up cleaning pads on carpets, and the availability of consumables and spare parts. I don't think it'll be displaced from the top 3 robots reviewed anytime soon.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!

Hello. Is it possible to buy the vacuum cleaner shown in the review?

  • Ilya

Hello, thanks for the review! Which robot do you think is better for cleaning floors, this one or the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra?

  • Svetlana

    Thanks for another review!
I'm planning to buy a robot on sale and forget about the agony of choice ))
    The choice is between:
Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, Dreame Bot L10s Ultra and Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN.
Considering I'm already mentally prepared for the budget of any of them, in your professional opinion, which would be best? I don't have any specific requirements: 100 square meters, laminate flooring, tile, and low-pile carpet. I want high-quality rinsing at the station, convenient platform maintenance, and good dry cleaning, too. Cameras, lidars, etc., while they may be a gimmick, they're definitely worth it. I'd be very grateful for your answer!

    • Admin

Well, it's still better to get the Dreame if you're willing to pay a little extra. It's slightly better built, has better software, and a better camera (than the Mijia).

      • Svetlana

I'm really, really confused by the complaints about the weak pump. And if we exclude the Omni from the contenders, what advantages could possibly outweigh the Dream's? Because somewhere deep down, my soul belongs to Roborock.

  • Nikolay

Thank you for your reviews. I can't decide between the Omni B101 and the Lydsto W2. They seem similar in functionality. I'd like to hear your opinion. I have three rooms, tile and laminate floors, and a dog with a lot of hair. Thanks in advance!

    • Admin

I would get the Omni and buy the Dreame Bot L10s Ultra central brush for it, so it would be easier to clean the fur)

    • Natalia

Thank you for all the reviews! They're very helpful in choosing a vacuum cleaner. I've settled on this one. But I'd like to know about the China region. Could you please provide more details? I think there's a European version available on AliExpress now. What does this mean? Does this only affect the connection in the app, and can it be done manually, or do I need a Chinese SIM card and account?

      • Admin

Don't worry about this robot; you can buy the Chinese version. Some other Chinese Xiaomi robots are very slow (app, response). This one hasn't had this problem. It doesn't require a Chinese SIM card.

  • Arman

Hello. Thank you for your reviews. I bought this vacuum cleaner thanks to your recommendations. Could you please tell me where you ordered the silicone brush? I want to order one, but I can't find it in our stores. Or could you please tell me which vacuum cleaner model it comes from?

    • Admin

A silicone toothbrush from the Dreame Bot L10s Ultra/L10s Pro. Look on AliExpress, they have it. And order the toothbrush frame right away, too.

  • Alexey

If I get the upgraded 1S, can I not connect it to the water supply or sewer system? Is that just an option? Or will I be unable to use it without it?

  • Admin

    Hello!
Please tell me, is the design of Mijia OMNI 1S the same as Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN?
I don't plan on connecting to the water supply, but the 1S model is a bit cheaper. Are the tank sizes the same?

  • Marat

    Hello!
Is it possible to buy this model from us anywhere except on Ali?

  • Vladimir

I was about to pick up the Dreame Bot W10 when I noticed the new Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot. My comparison of the pros and cons: the Dreame doesn't require changing the dust bin at the station, it's fully Russian-language, doesn't pick up the brushes on carpet, and is more expensive. The Omni S1, on the other hand, can be connected to a water supply but still requires emptying the dust bin, is cheaper, and can be localized through third-party websites.
What would you recommend to take?

  • Lana

Please tell me how to find the Mi Home robot in the Chinese version and connect it. It arrived today, drove around, stopped, and the red light flashed, and that's it.

  • Arthur

Good afternoon. Thank you very much for the review.
Tell me, if we compare it with Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T9 AIVI Plus, which one is better in your opinion?

  • Maxim

Thanks to your reviews, I chose this vacuum cleaner to replace my Roborock c5. I felt the difference immediately, and of course, I'm very happy. But then I encountered a strange behavior: I changed the brush moisture level in the app to medium and the rinse frequency to 20 meters—I noticed the vacuum was running with dry cloths. If I set it to maximum and wash after each room, this doesn't happen. So, the typical pump issue doesn't seem to exist, and it cleans everything at maximum settings. So, does it have an internal reservoir for wetting the cloths, or does it only wet them at the station? And if so, how can I check if it's filling and wetting properly? Before starting cleaning, the vacuum moves in and out a few times, as if adjusting...

  • Admin

Hello. I bought a Xiaomi Mijia on AliExpress. But the vacuum cleaner couldn't find the app. How did you solve this problem?

  • Sergey

    Hello!
I encountered the problem I mentioned earlier: the vacuum cleaner rolls with dry cloths, but leaves the station with damp ones, washing them, etc. There's no water supply during operation. I ran an experiment on the maximum moisture cleaning mode, without cloths, and nothing dripped from the robot. Could you tell me how to solve the problem of the cloths getting wet during operation?

    • Artem

Good afternoon, I have exactly the same problem, can you tell me how to solve it?

      • Alex

I have a similar problem. What should I do?

      • Veronica

We have the same problem, is there any solution?

        • cska123

Author of the article, please answer, does the robot not moisten the wipes at all? What kind of wet cleaning is this? 3 meters, and then dry? Is this some kind of joke? I have the same problem, and it's also with the pump.

          • Admin

I set the rinse cycle to every 10 minutes, and the highest wetting level on the station. It's more than enough. I've been using the Dreame Bot L10s Ultra, a similar product, for over six months. They said it dispenses water, but in some weird way, every 15 square meters or so. Basically, the robot has some kind of internal setup.

  • Sergey

    Hello,
Does the Xiaomi Mijia Omni Robot Vacuum-Mop B101CN have round brushes that rise up when it returns to the base after wet cleaning to prevent it from rubbing against the clean floor?

  • Sergey

    Hello,
What are the requirements for installing a base against a wall relative to the surrounding floor area of the room? Will nearby furniture or wall projections affect this?

  • Denis

    Hello.
    I just can't choose.
I have a two-room apartment, a short-haired dog, a wife, and tons of hair everywhere. I also have a couple of bedside rugs.
Ideally, I see daily dry cleaning, wet cleaning at the entrance in the evening, and a full wet cleaning every 2-3 days.
Need a good car with a minimum of hassle, but within 50 thousand.
Now I'm looking at the Dreame L10 Pro, 360 S10 Max, Roborock S7 MaxV and Mijia B101CN.
The price is of course more attractive for the first two options.
It would be a big plus to be able to control Alice, but I'm not sure how necessary it is.

  • Nikolay

Hello! Is it physically impossible to install a detergent compartment on this model? And how much difference does it make in cleaning floors with and without it? Should I choose between the 1s version just for that (no need for a water connection) or this one? Thanks in advance!

    • Admin

Hello! It's physically impossible. The detergent improves the quality of the floor cleaning, and the rooms smell nicer afterward.

  • Lily

I want to buy a Dreame D10s Plus (GLOBAL) Black robot vacuum cleaner, but there aren't any good reviews yet, since it's new... What can you say about this vacuum cleaner!? Thanks

    • Admin

I haven't tested it, so I don't know. I think it's fine. There's a review of the D10s. The Plus also has self-cleaning and a camera for remote home monitoring, as far as I understand.

    • Anatoly

You suggested disconnecting the tube in the clean water tank, removing the filter, and when the robot attempts to rinse the wipes, use a syringe or your mouth, after filling it with water, to blow water into the tube. The pump will start, and the problem will be completely solved.
How do I disconnect the filter? Should I just disconnect it from the bottom of the tank, or can I somehow disconnect the filter itself from the tube?

  • Stepan

Good afternoon, firstly, I want to thank you for your excellent website and comparison system, very useful for many. Secondly, I would like to know what other stores, perhaps on Ali, you would recommend for purchase, since I understand they are out of stock in the attached link. Thank you.

  • Vasiliy

Good afternoon, I ordered this robot for myself, and I ran into a problem. After a month, it stopped cleaning the floor, or rather, it seems like it can't tell the floor from the carpet. It vacuums all the time, but the mops don't lower or spin, but when it rinses, everything spins fine. Maybe someone knows what's wrong with it? I don't have a service center here.
