Greetings to all readers of this site! This review will finally examine one of the most popular robot vacuum cleaners in the Xiaomi family: the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner STYTJ02YM. Please note that this is the product number for the robot vacuum cleaner. This is the Chinese version, not the global version. A global version called the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P is also available. They are identical in appearance, and their specifications and cleaning performance are identical. However, the price difference is significant: the Chinese LDS costs between $170 and $200, while the global version, the Vacuum-Mop P, costs between $230 and $270. I'll explain why this extra cost occurs later, and I'll also thoroughly test this robot vacuum and express my opinion on whether it's worth buying. So, let's get started!

Differences between the Xiaomi Mijia LDS and Vacuum-Mop P

Well, first, let's look at the differences between the Chinese and global versions so you can decide which is better and how much money you should spend on a robot vacuum cleaner if you're interested.

The main difference is that the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner runs on Chinese servers, speaks Chinese, and all documentation for the robot is in Chinese.

The Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mijia LDSThe Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mijia LDS

The Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mijia LDS

The most important thing is the app's operation on a Chinese server. Here, you'll encounter problems with the robot going offline, causing the app's functionality to freeze temporarily, and the response time itself may be longer, which isn't very convenient. There are detailed instructions online on how to connect the Chinese version to the Russian region, but not everyone will understand this complex process, although the main thing is that it's possible.

The Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P version comes with a Russian-translated manual. The robot vacuum cleaner speaks at least English, connects to the Russian region, and, according to online reviews, even supports control via Yandex.Alice, though opinions are mixed. I haven't personally tested it, as I received a different version for review, so I can't confirm this. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know in the comments.

Another important difference between the Xiaomi Mijia LDS and the Vacuum-Mop P is that the Chinese version supports a Y-pattern mopping pattern and allows you to monitor the status of consumables in the settings. Surprisingly, the global version lacks these features.

Yes, and the global version, as I understand it, is covered by warranty support from Xiaomi, while when purchasing the Chinese version, all warranty obligations are only on the seller's side.

Ultimately, in my opinion, paying extra is justified if the difference between the two versions is small—$20-$30. If the difference between the robots is significantly greater, I think it makes sense to choose the Chinese version and save money without sacrificing the robot's cleaning performance.

And one more important point. Online stores often list the model name "Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum Cleaner Mop P LDS," combining the names of the Chinese and global versions. This model doesn't exist, and this is done solely to attract maximum attention. Before ordering, be sure to confirm which version is meant!

Equipment

Now let's move on to the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner review. Let's start with the package contents. The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded cardboard box like this:

In addition to the robot itself, it contains:

  1. Charging base.
  2. Power adapter with Chinese plug.
  3. Combined water and waste tank (the robot itself already has a dust collector installed).
  4. A wet cleaning nozzle with a microfiber cloth already installed.
  5. Spare napkin.
  6. Robot documentation in Chinese.

Appearance

Let's take a look at the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner. I received a black version for review. There's also a white version, which I think is more practical. The robot is round, with a lidar sensor mounted on top for navigation.

A combined water and waste container of the same size can be installed in place of the dust collector. It holds approximately 150 ml of water and 350 ml of dry waste. It features a pump for electronically regulating the water flow. The filtration system is HEPA-only; there is no mesh filter.

Overall, the build quality is average, as is its price segment.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of the Xiaomi Mijia LDS, as stated by the manufacturer:

  • Li-Ion battery 3200 mAh.
  • Suction power up to 2100 Pa.
  • Operating time up to 110 min.
  • Cleaning area up to 180 sq.m.
  • Dust collector 550 ml.
  • Combined container 350+150 ml.
  • Obstacle clearance up to 20 mm.
  • Dimensions: 350*94.5 mm.

We see that the battery capacity is smaller than that of the older Xiaomi models. Consequently, the runtime and maximum cleaning area are also shorter. Otherwise, the specifications are quite standard.

Functional capabilities

Let's move on to an overview of the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner's features. The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled via the proprietary Mi Home mobile app. Before connecting, you need to select the China region. The app interface is almost completely translated into Russian.

The main control panel displays a map of the room, which the robot stores in its memory and automatically divides into rooms. Swiping up opens the menu. It first asks you to select the cleaning type: dry only, dry and wet, or wet only. You can also adjust the suction power and the wetness of the cleaning cloth.

To the right of the map, you'll see two cleaning modes: local cleaning at a specified point on the map, and a rectangular area for selecting a cleaning zone. You can also select specific rooms for cleaning.

Basic settingsBasic settings

Basic settings

Let's move on to the settings section. Here you can view your cleaning history, set up a cleaning schedule by selecting the time, days of the week, and cleaning type, adjust the power and water flow level, and even select specific rooms if needed.

You can then enable perimeter cleaning after a full cleaning cycle and double-pass mode for the entire available area. You can also choose a wet cleaning pattern: a serpentine or herringbone pattern. This is a plus.

Additional settings include a do-not-disturb mode, voice alerts on and off, and volume adjustment. As mentioned at the beginning, the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner speaks Chinese.

As for working with the map, you can enable or disable map storage, set virtual walls and restricted areas on the map, select the desired map from the list of saved ones, and edit the created map. For example, you can change room boundaries or give them names.

Other features include sensor calibration, finding the robot vacuum cleaner by sound signal, monitoring the status of consumables, manual control, changing the robot name, granting control to other users, and manual firmware updates.

That's all the functionality of the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner. Basically, it covers the basics. The only things missing to be completely satisfying are separate no-go zones for wet cleaning mode and automatic power boost on carpets, which would have earned the robot vacuum extra points.

Testing

And finally, let's move on to the tests. A detailed video review has already been prepared and published on the channel; I recommend watching it:

Navigation

First, let's test the robot vacuum's navigation in a room with obstacles. The Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner first sweeps the entire perimeter of the accessible area, then begins cleaning in a serpentine pattern. It didn't get stuck on the dryer, and it swept around the box and all the chair legs separately, before returning to its base without a hitch. The test was a success!

Navigating within a room

There are no complaints about navigation within the house either. The robot vacuum cleans room by room, first along the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. There are no uncleaned areas left; navigation is excellent!

Suction power

The suction power is quite standard, despite the stated 2100 Pa. The Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner, like most other Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners, was only able to suck up debris from a 2 mm deep crevice. However, this is sufficient for automatically maintaining a clean home!

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

The quality of debris collection on laminate floors is excellent. The robot completely collected debris on the rack, leaving only a small amount in the corners due to its round shape. A small amount of hair was caught on the side brush and a very small amount on the center brush. The bulk of the debris was collected in the dust bin. Test passed successfully!

Cleaning the carpet

The cleaning quality on carpets is average. The robot may leave behind some debris after each pass, and to clean everything, it needs to pass over the same area several times. So, carpets aren't its strong suit.

Wet cleaning

But the wet cleaning performance is excellent. The Xiaomi Mijia LDS is capable of removing light stains from the floor, leaving virtually no streaks. The cloth adheres well to the floor and absorbs dirt. It passed this test successfully.

Wet cleaningWet cleaning

Wet cleaning

Overall, the wet cleaning performance is better than that of robots from the Dreame or Roborock series. The cloth leaves an even wet trail and effectively collects dust from the floor. It's also important to note that the Xiaomi Mijia LDS can simultaneously vacuum and mop, and even move in a herringbone pattern in wet cleaning mode. That's a plus!

Obstacle clearance

This model has good obstacle clearance. The robotic vacuum cleaner can easily navigate a 2-centimeter threshold.

Driving on dark surfaces

The robot is wary of black surfaces, however, recognizing them by their height differences. This is important to keep in mind.

Noise level

Finally, we measured the robot's noise level in different modes. Even at minimum suction power, the noise level reaches 64.5 dB. In standard mode, the noise level rises to 68 dB. In medium mode, the noise level reaches 71 dB, and in Turbo mode, the peak was 73 dB. Admittedly, this is a fairly noisy robot vacuum cleaner, despite its standard suction power.

Let's sum it up

The Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 64 out of 100 pointsThe result is far from the best. For comparison, the updated Xiaomi Mijia Vacuum Cleaner Pro It received a score of 75, and this robot truly has a significant number of improvements. It's worth noting that the Chinese version was evaluated. The global version of the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P would have scored 68 points, with additional points for more stable app operation, a Y-shaped mopping function, and Russian voice support.

Overall rating of robot vacuum cleaners tested on robovac.washerhouse.com: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.

I'll share my thoughts on the Xiaomi Mijia LDS after testing it. I liked the following:

  1. High quality dry and wet cleaning on hard surfaces.
  2. The robot vacuum cleaner is capable of vacuuming and mopping the floor at the same time.
  3. Good level of navigation.
  4. Basic functionality is provided, including when working with a map.
  5. The Y-shaped wet cleaning mode is set.
  6. It is possible to install a creative voice pack.
  7. Good obstacle clearance.
  8. Great price, especially during sales season.

However, the robot also has many shortcomings. The main ones are:

  1. Afraid of dark floor coverings.
  2. Increased noise level during operation.
  3. The carpet cleaning quality is not very high, and there is no automatic suction boost function when driving onto carpets.
  4. Problems arise when controlling via Chinese Mi Home.

So, here's what I can say about this robot. Certainly, if you buy it for around $170, it certainly makes sense. Especially if there's a global version available within that price range. If you have a larger budget, I'd recommend checking out the updated Pro version with expanded functionality, higher-quality build quality, and a floor recognition system, or consider Dreame line of robotic vacuum cleaners, which also belong to the Xiaomi family. They are more powerful, clean carpets better, and are now available in a global version.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!

Can you tell me what their latest models are and what the top ones are? I'm confused.

Good afternoon. Could you please tell me if this vacuum cleaner is suitable for Russia? Or, better yet, what should I buy for cleaning in our country? I'm considering either the Viomi or the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner. Thank you.

    • Admin

Xiaomi representatives in Russia told me that the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner is a model for the Chinese market. For the Russian market, the Viomi B2 or B2 Pro, or the Roborock C5/C6, are better options.

  • Vadim

Hello, can it do wet cleaning without a vacuum cleaner? My robot keeps giving an error message about the water container not being inserted, but wet cleaning and the vacuum cleaner are working.

    • Nikita

There's a trick to using the floor-only mode: you need to install the combination container and remove the HEPA filter. Then the vacuum cleaner will only move and wipe the floor without using dust suction.

  • Anatoly

Hello, has anyone managed to flash this model into Russian?

    • Azm

I'm seeing a lot of reviews on Yandex Market and in stores like DNS and Wildberries, claiming that this model, or more specifically the global equivalent of the MOP P, often breaks down after a while or has annoying problems with the home button. Do you have any information on this, and are there any similar models available today, both in terms of functionality and price?

  • Nikolay

Please tell me, can this model be flashed into Russian?

    Hello!
Can you tell me what kind of "beast" this Xiaomi Mijia robot vacuum cleaner mop is?

  • Catherine

Hello, if you've already purchased the Xiaomi Mijia LDS Vacuum Cleaner, which filters can I buy? Are filters from other vacuum cleaners suitable? Or should I only order from China? Thank you.

I have this exact robot (the Chinese version), and it works great with Alice. No fuss. They also sell a separate container just for water, which holds a gigantic amount, like half a liter, and a lint roller instead of the main brush, which is better for regularly cleaning dust on laminate floors.
