Dreame Bot D9 Pro: Review and Comparison with the Dreame Bot D9 Max

Dreame Bot D9 Pro is an updated version of the previously released Dreame Bot D9 Max, which was already on review, as well as a simplified version of the older ones Dreame Bot L10 Pro And Z10 ProBelow, I'll thoroughly test this robot vacuum cleaner and then express my opinion on whether it's worth buying. The price at the time of writing is $400-480, placing it in the mid-price segment. So, let's get started!
What's the difference between the Dreame Bot D9 Pro and D9 Max?
First, let me explain how the new Dreame Bot D9 Pro differs from the previously released Dreame Bot D9 Max. The differences aren't huge, but they're there. All the key differences are summarized in the table:
| Dreame Bot D9 Pro | Dreame Bot D9 Max | |
| Control buttons on the body | Start/Pause, Return to Base, Spot Cleaning | Start/Pause, Return to base |
| Fall protection sensors | 6 pcs. | 4 pcs. |
| Wall sensor | Eat | No |
| Lidar cover | Metal | Plastic |
| CPU | MR133 (4*Cortex-A7) | MR112 |
| Additionally | Plastic base for the docking station | |
| Price | $400-480 | $310-400 |
As you can see, the updated Dreame Bot D9 Pro has received several minor design improvements. However, the price difference can also be significant. Therefore, even though the price difference is small, it still makes sense to choose the updated model. Now let's move on to the review of this robot vacuum cleaner.
Equipment
The robot arrived in this branded box:
The package includes:
- Plastic base for the charging base.
- Charging base.
- Power adapter.
- Wet cleaning nozzle with a microfiber cloth installed.
- Documentation for the robot, translated into several languages, incl. and into Russian.
The delivery kit is minimal. There are no spare consumables.
Appearance
Let's take a closer look at the Dreame Bot D9 Pro's design. It's round and black and glossy. A wall sensor is mounted on the right bumper, and an obstacle detection sensor is in the center. The body is 97 mm high from the floor.
A lidar system is responsible for navigation. It is equipped with a spring-loaded cover to prevent the robot from getting stuck under furniture. The control panel contains three mechanical control buttons.
The dust container is located under the top cover. The robot's cleaning tool is conveniently stored nearby. The container holds up to 570 ml of dry waste. The filtration system includes a mesh filter and a HEPA filter.
The robot is equipped with six fall protection sensors on its underside. It has a single, three-beam, quick-release side brush.
The central brush, made of bristles and petals, can be disassembled on both sides to remove tangled hair and fur. Behind the brush, you'll find a comb for combing out tangled hair. This design allows the brush to detangle slightly, making it easier to clean.
The wet cleaning attachment holds up to 270 ml of water. An internal pump electronically regulates the amount of liquid delivered to the cloth. The cloth is secured with Velcro and a groove.
Overall, the robot's build quality is high, no complaints there.

Functional capabilities
Let's take a look at the Dreame Bot D9 Pro's functionality. The robot vacuum is controlled via the Mi Home app, part of the Xiaomi ecosystem. The app's interface is in Russian, and connecting the robot to a Wi-Fi network was straightforward.
On the main control panel, the robot vacuum cleaner creates a room map and automatically divides it into rooms. Three operating modes are displayed below the map. In Room mode, you can select the desired rooms, the cleaning order, and the number of passes (1 or 2). In Automatic mode, the robot cleans the entire available area. In Zone mode, you can set rectangular cleaning zones on the map and the number of passes.
In the map management section, we see that the Dreame Bot D9 Pro can store multiple maps in its memory. When working with a map, you can edit room boundaries and name them. You can also set no-go zones and virtual walls on the map, including separate no-go zones for wet cleaning mode.
Let's move on to the settings section. In the device settings, you'll first be asked to adjust the volume of voice notifications and select their language. The Dreame Bot D9 Pro speaks Russian.
You can also enable notifications sent to your smartphone, an automatic power boost when entering carpets, resume cleaning after recharging at the base, set up a do-not-disturb mode, and a reminder to rinse the cloth manually during cleaning.
Additional settings include adjusting suction power and water flow rate, setting up a cleaning schedule by selecting the time, days of the week, desired rooms, and cleaning parameters, viewing the cleaning log, monitoring the status of consumables, switching to manual control mode, and enabling the robot's sound-based search. You can also change the robot's name, share control with other users, and update the firmware to the latest version.
In addition, it's important to note that the Dreame Bot D9 Pro supports voice control, including via Yandex.Alice.
It's important to note that, unfortunately, the settings don't allow you to completely shut off the water supply when the tank is installed, nor do you have the flexibility to customize cleaning parameters for each room. All other important features are included.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Dreame Bot D9 Pro, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel. I recommend watching the full video:
Navigation
Let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Dreame Bot D9 Pro's navigation in a room with obstacles. First, the robot vacuum cleaner navigates the perimeter of the room. It didn't get stuck on the dryer, which is a plus. After traversing the perimeter, the robot begins cleaning the entire accessible area in a zigzag pattern, then traverses the perimeter again and zigzags perpendicularly. It was able to clean around the legs of a chair and a box, although its touch isn't very gentle and the robot moved the objects. Nevertheless, the test was successful.
As for navigating throughout the house, the robot goes room by room, first along the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. Cleaning speed is high, and there are no uncleaned areas. This model has excellent navigation!
Suction power
The Dreame Bot D9 Pro claims to have a suction power of 4000 Pa. It was able to vacuum up to 8 mm deep, just like the previously released D9 Max. It struggled with a 10 mm deep gap, although the larger Dreame Bot L10 Pro was able to partially vacuum up to 10 mm deep. It's unclear why, as the robots are identical in design. In any case, this robot is very powerful!
Dry cleaning
The dry cleaning performance on laminate flooring was also impressive. The robot vacuum was able to remove all debris from the floor, including pet hair and fur. Only the corners were left uncleaned, which is a problem with most round robots.
Some hair got caught in the side and center brushes, but the bulk of the debris was still collected in the dust bin. Passed this test!
Cleaning the carpet
The cleaning quality on the carpet is high; the robot was able to collect all the debris, thoroughly cleaning the carpet with brushes; I have no complaints.
Wet cleaning
The cleaning performance is on par with other robots in the Dreame line. The robot was able to remove dried-on dirt from the floor. A small streak of dirt remained along the baseboard, and minor streaks and traces of dirt were also detected. While wet cleaning isn't the Dreame Bot D9 Pro's strong suit, it's still sufficient for automatically maintaining cleanliness in your home!
It's also important to note that this robot vacuum cleaner can vacuum and mop at the same time, even though the water supply isn't very generous!
Wet cleaning and carpets
When it comes to wet cleaning on carpets, the Dreame Bot D9 Pro detects them, but there's a slight delay. It still moves the mop pad completely onto the carpet, after which the function is triggered and the robot moves off the carpet. Therefore, it's best to protect carpets with separate no-go zones for wet cleaning.
Obstacle clearance
This model has good obstacle clearance. The robot vacuum easily navigates a 2 cm threshold, even with the wet cleaning attachment attached. That's a plus.
Driving on dark surfaces
The Dreame Bot D9 Pro, however, is wary of black surfaces, detecting them by differences in height. This is important to keep in mind.
Noise level
Finally, we measured the robot's noise level in different modes. At minimum suction power, the noise level is around 60-62 dB, while at medium power, it's around 64 dB. In intensive cleaning mode, the noise level reaches 66 dB, and in Turbo mode, the peak was 74.5 dB. Yes, this robot vacuum is noisy, but it's important to understand that the high suction power also accounts for the increased noise level.
Let's sum it up
Dreame Bot D9 Pro has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he was able to dial 73 out of 100 points, as did the D9 Max, and this is an excellent result for a mid-priced robot vacuum. Both robots demonstrated similar cleaning results and functionality. Minor design changes didn't have a significant impact and are therefore not factored into the rating algorithm.
Overall rating of robot vacuum cleaners tested on robovac.washerhouse.com: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.
I'll share my thoughts on the Dreame Bot D9 Pro after testing it. I liked the following:
- Good navigation.
- High suction power.
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- Good dry cleaning quality on both hard floors and carpets.
- All the main functionality is in the application.
- Good obstacle clearance.
- High build quality.
- Yandex.Alice support.
Regarding its drawbacks, or rather criticisms, I'd like to highlight its less-than-stellar wet cleaning performance and its sensitivity to dark flooring. However, if you're looking for a powerful robot vacuum cleaner with good navigation for dry cleaning and carpet cleaning, I recommend considering this model. Or, if the price difference is significant, consider the Dreame Bot D9 Max.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!

"As you can see, the updated Dreame Bot D9 Pro has received several minor design improvements. However, the price difference can also be significant. Therefore, even though the price difference is small, it still makes sense to choose the updated model."
Please explain your logic, what is the point, with “minor design improvements”, to buy a model with a “significant difference in price”?
Or is the difference in the quality of work also significant?
Sometimes the difference is only $20, in which case the D9 Pro is better. The difference isn't significant, but there are some nice little features that I'd pay extra for, like the filtering system.
Good afternoon. Could you please tell me which one to choose between the Dreame Bot L10 Pro and the Dreame Bot D9 Pro? I need to clean laminate flooring, approximately 90 square meters. I have a cat, a dog, and children in the house, all of whom have fur, so there might be toys scattered around.
I would take the L10 Pro)
Thank you for the reviews, I made my choice thanks to you
Good afternoon.
Could you please tell me, if, for example, I only want dry cleaning, do I need to remove the water tank or can I just not fill it with water?
Everything is correct)
Hello. How is it different from the regular D9, other than its power? I ordered the D9 first, but then I saw the Pro was only 1,000 rubles more expensive. I was already thinking about it.
The lidar seems to be better, and the model itself is newer; they've probably updated the hardware inside as well.
How is the lidar better? The D9 has newer firmware, but all the hardware is identical, including the engine. And it looks like the suction power difference is only on paper. I was also considering the D9 Pro, but after reading the right sources, I bought the D9 and I don't regret it.
Hello. The D9 model has a problem with the water pump—it's rusting. Is this a problem here?
It's better to read reviews on marketplaces from people who have been using it for a long time.
Thank you for your detailed reviews! They helped me choose a vacuum cleaner. Now I have a question about the D9 PRO: is it possible to turn off the water supply function when the water tank is full and connected? I want to dry clean the entire apartment first, and then wet clean specific areas without carpets.
Thank you.
Good afternoon. Could you please advise me on which camera series to choose: the Dreame L10pro, D9pro, or D9max?
90% of the apartment is linoleum, and only one high-pile carpet. There are no cats, dogs, etc., and no children either. Thank you.
Hello! D9 Pro) You can also get the Max, if it's significantly cheaper.
Could you please tell me about interchangeability of consumables? Are any filters, brushes, or cloths from other models compatible with the Xiaomi Dreame D9 Pro?
