South Korean company LG introduced the CordZero A9 line of cordless stick vacuum cleaners back in 2018. At the time, this line was one of the most striking innovations in the household cleaning category. It included three versions: the most affordable VSF8403SCWB, the mid-range A9DDCARPET2, and the top-of-the-line A9MULTI2X. Our review today focuses on the latter version. Equipment

The docking station comes with a wand, a pedestal, a detachable 1.8-meter power cable, crevice and combination nozzle holders, and a wall-mounting kit. The base can be used not only on the wall but also vertically, without attaching it to the wall, or for compact storage.

Appearance

The LG A9MULTI2X cordless handheld vacuum cleaner is designed for convenience and ergonomics: the motor, battery, handle, and control unit are located at the top, with only the extension tube and attachments extending downward. This shifts the center of gravity upward, minimizing strain on the forearm muscles while cleaning. Therefore, even a petite woman or teenager can operate the device.

Main block

The extension tube is made of aluminum and weighs only 354 grams. It's telescopic and has four different height positions, allowing you to adjust it to your height. The tube's length ranges from 51 to 74 centimeters. A key advantage of the LG A9MULTI2X upright vacuum cleaner is that the extension tube can be completely removed, allowing you to attach the nozzle directly to the unit. This option is ideal for cleaning furniture, cars, and other areas where a long handle isn't required.

A closer look at the handle reveals a rubberized surface. Above the handle are three control buttons, which are used to turn the unit on/off, increase, and decrease suction power. Holding the suction power button for a couple of seconds activates turbo mode. Above the buttons is a three-cell indicator, indicating the battery charge.

Next to the handle is a transparent dust bin, which is integral with the motor unit. The dust bin holds 0.44 liters—enough for cleaning a room of up to 60-70 m², including furniture. The dust bin needs to be emptied after almost every work cycle, but this is very easy. Simply open the lid; there's no need to disconnect it from the motor unit.

Cleaning system

The electric brushes included with the LG A9MULTI2X cordless upright vacuum cleaner are equipped with three wheels (two small ones in front and one larger one in the back). But their main feature is something else entirely: they're electric. In addition to the motor's pull, they also improve the "grabbing" of debris from the floor.

As noted in the review above, the LG A9MULTI2X upright vacuum cleaner has two main operating modes: standard (23-80 W) and turbo (maximum, 140 W). In practice, when cleaning a typical apartment, the maximum mode will be used sparingly; standard mode is quite sufficient.

a fiber filter in front of the engine that can be removed and washed under water.

Filtration system

In addition to the filters, a cyclone is installed inside, which captures and leaves the collected dirt and dust inside the dust collector, passing only the remains of the smallest particles further.

Thanks to its well-positioned center of gravity and light weight, your hand won't tire throughout the cleaning cycle, making it suitable for even petite women and teenagers. The handle houses the control panel and battery charge indicator, making it very user-friendly. The extension wand is height-adjustable to suit the user's height, and it can also be completely removed, allowing the nozzle to attach directly to the main unit. The base has three mounting options, but there's no vertical parking option (which can be useful during short breaks). Another drawback is the dust bin emptying system. While it's traditional for such devices, it has one drawback: if a lot of debris accumulates, it can clog the bin and require manual emptying. Dyson, for example, has a more sophisticated bin emptying system.

Cleaning quality: 9 out of 10. The LG A9MULTI2X vacuum cleaner is suitable for cleaning not only floors but also other surfaces (furniture, curtains, storage rooms, balconies, car interiors, etc.) thanks to its range of attachments. It features a triple filtration system that ensures cleanliness not only of the floor but also of the exhaust air. This model boasts high suction power, which can be adjusted manually in standard mode. Moreover, the noise level, even in turbo mode, is lower than that of a traditional vacuum cleaner. As always, the short runtime in turbo mode is a letdown.

Reliability and build quality: 9 out of 10. This model features an extended package, including a spare pre-motor filter and an extra battery. Overall, the battery life and dust bin capacity are sufficient for a full cleaning of a 60-70 square meter apartment with moderate soiling. No defects or malfunctions were found.

Total: 26 out of 30 points

The only major drawback is the high price. Otherwise, the vacuum cleaner is quite impressive and can easily be considered one of the best premium upright vacuums.
