Neato XV-21

The Neato XV-21 is an excellent solution for keeping your home or office clean. Designed in the USA, the device is manufactured in China. This robot vacuum cleaner is capable of dry cleaning all types of flooring, including carpets and rugs. Thanks to its special turbo brush and improved filter, it excels at picking up pet hair, hair, lint, and other small, hard-to-remove debris. It also leaves the air fresh and clean. This model features increased suction power and increased airflow, a key differentiator from previous Neato robots. In this article, we provide an overview of the Neato XV-21, examining its specifications and capabilities.
Equipment
The Neato XV-21 and its components are packaged in a sturdy cardboard box. Additionally, the robot itself comes in a separate container, which contains several air chambers.
The delivery set, in addition to the robot vacuum cleaner itself, contains:
- Battery.
- Charging cable.
- Charging station.
- Movement limiter - magnetic tape.
- Bristle and rubber turbo brushes.
- Two air filters and one anti-allergenic.
- A short operating manual in the form of a booklet and a more detailed one on a CD-ROM.
- Guarantee.
Appearance
The Neato XV-21's appearance is little different from previous models in the series: the front of the robot vacuum cleaner is square, while the opposite side is semicircular. The device's color is grayish, but the manufacturer describes it in a unique way as "white fog." The body's inlay is purple, and the main button is orange. Overall, the Neato XV-21's design can be described as modern and stylish.
The top of the robot vacuum cleaner features a retractable plastic handle, making it very convenient for carrying. Viewing the device from above, we also see the aforementioned large round power button and three additional smaller buttons for selecting operating modes. Also located here are the electronic display, status indicator, dust bin release button, and the protruding 360-degree rotating laser sensor, which acts as the "eyes" of the device.
On the side, there are charging contacts and a charging cable port. Turning the robot over reveals its underside, which houses a pair of side wheels, a battery compartment cover, an information plate, a pair of drop sensors, and a central turbo brush, which is secured by a special grille with a pair of latches on the sides.

Functional capabilities
Before using the robot vacuum cleaner, make sure there are no unnecessary objects on the floor: remove any wires, cords, or other items that could cause the device to become entangled.
To activate the device, press the large button on the body and select the desired cleaning mode. The Neato XV-21's key feature is its infrared laser rangefinder, housed in a protruding "turret" at the top of the body. This 360-degree rotating sensor scans the surrounding area, maps the room, and then plots the optimal cleaning route. The robot vacuum moves back and forth across the room (in a zigzag pattern), but it can also move only along walls, thoroughly picking up debris due to its square front.
The Neato XV-21 is also equipped with multiple optical sensors and detectors to detect distances to obstacles and height differences, eliminating the possibility of the robot vacuum cleaner colliding with surrounding furniture or falling down stairs.
The bristle brush and improved filter will be especially welcomed by allergy sufferers and pet owners: this robot is quite effective at removing fur, hair, and tiny dust particles, allergens, and other nasty debris.
