Dreame D20 Pro: Flagship-Like Brushes and 13,000 Pa! Review and Test

Hello to all readers of the project! This review will focus on the Dreame D20 Pro robot vacuum cleaner. Its price at the time of writing is between $250 and $330. For this price, the robot is equipped with a powerful motor generating suction up to 13,000 Pa, an object detection system that works in tandem with lidar, and new brushes: a retractable side brush for completely sweeping debris out of corners, and dual center brushes, like those found in flagship models. This is an interesting set of features for the price. So, below, I'll test the Dreame D20 Pro in detail, highlighting the pros and cons based on my test results, and then express my personal opinion of the robot. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
In addition to the robot itself, the package includes a charging base, a power adapter, a holder with a wet cleaning cloth, and documentation for the robot translated into Russian.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Dreame D20 Pro's design. It comes in two colors: black and white.
The body is round. The height is 97 mm from the floor.
A wall sensor is installed on the right, and a system of sensors for detecting objects is located in the center.
I'll point out right away that this model only identifies objects and carefully navigates around them. It doesn't recognize what's on the floor, nor does it offer remote home monitoring via smartphone.
The lidar is equipped with a spring-loaded cover to prevent it from getting stuck under furniture. Two mechanical control buttons are located next to it.
The dust collector is located under the top cover; next to it we see a QR code for connecting the robot to a Wi-Fi network and a water tank.
The waste container itself is quite spacious, holding 700 ml. The filtration system is exclusively HEPA-based.
The water tank holds 350 ml. Water is pumped to the cloth, and the flow rate is adjustable in the app.
A holder with a standard, straight cloth is installed on the bottom of the robot. It is threaded through a special groove and held in place with Velcro.
There are four fall protection sensors in total. A carpet sensor is also included. The three-beam side brush extends into corners and under furniture and is secured with a screw.
The turbo brush assembly is floating. The two central HyperStream brushes have proven themselves on flagship models. X50 seriesThe brushes are held on the needles and have beveled edges, which helps them shed tangled wool and hair as they rotate.
The pros and cons of this design will be discussed during the final review. Let's move on!

Testing
A detailed video review of the Dreame D20 Pro, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Navigation
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Dreame D20 Pro's navigation in a room with obstacles. The robot vacuum first moves around the perimeter of the room, then cleans the entire accessible area in a serpentine motion. The dryer's legs presented no problems; it passed over one leg, circled the other, and then spent a short time in the dryer area without getting stuck. It also swept around the table legs and the box, then returned to the station. Surprisingly, the mirror didn't introduce any errors in the map. The test was successful.
Speaking of navigation within the home, the robot vacuum cleaner moves room by room, following the perimeter and then in a serpentine pattern. There were no uncleaned areas, but I did notice that the robot's cleaning speed was slightly slower than its lidar-based counterparts. In any case, this model's navigation is excellent!
Definition of objects
I also tested how well the Dreame D20 Pro detects objects on the floor. In good lighting, the robot managed to carefully avoid a sock out of six common household items, but then chewed it up. It also moved around a simulated pet surprise. It also moved a wire and a bathroom scale. However, it avoided larger objects, such as shoes and a toy. The overall result was 2 out of six items. The robot also managed to avoid all three socks. It moved them while cleaning, but didn't get them tangled in the brushes, resulting in no errors. Its wire avoidance wasn't so good. It only avoided a large bundled wire, but moved around the other three, and even got one of the wires tangled in the brushes, causing an error. And, as expected, the robots missed all six simulated pet surprises and moved on.
In the dark, there was no point in further testing the object detection system, as it was primitively designed. Nevertheless, the robot is more accurate than its counterparts without this system at all.
Passing under low furniture
The minimum height the robot can pass was also tested. Considering the robot itself is 9.7 cm tall, I created a 10 cm clearance under the furniture, and it fits through it without a problem. That's good!
Autonomy
I also tested how long the battery lasted when running the robot at maximum power with wet cleaning enabled. It managed to run for 186 minutes, cleaning 131 square meters of usable space. In reality, that's just over three cleanings of a two-bedroom apartment. And that's an excellent result.
Suction power
The power test that interests many most is the Dreame D20 Pro. In "Quiet" mode, the robot successfully cleaned a 2 mm deep gap. In "Standard" mode, the robot partially cleaned a 4 mm deep mark. The results were unchanged in "Turbo" mode. In "Maximum" mode, the D20 Pro cleaned a 4 mm gap better, and in "Maximum+" mode, it partially cleaned crevices of 6 and 8 mm depth.
The result is the same as X50 Ultra Complete and L40s Pro Ultra, which are equipped with the same brushes. The power is increased, but due to the larger suction opening and the distance between the brushes and the housing, aerodynamic losses have occurred. While not critical, they are still present. However, these brushes have their own strengths, which I will demonstrate in the tests below.
Dry cleaning
The quality of collection of various types of debris on laminate floors was good. Various types of debris were collected from the rack, including cat litter pellets, which often clog the turbo brush.
It's important to note that this robot vacuum cleaned corners well, leaving no debris behind. This is all thanks to the retractable side brush. Both the inner and outer corners were clean. And the brushes themselves were clean after the test—that's amazing!
Anti-tangle Hair Protection
I also tested how the new turbo brushes handle self-cleaning of hair and pet hair. I laid hair of varying lengths on the floor. The robot collected them, and we see that the central brushes are practically clean. The side brush picked up a little hair, but nothing significant. Most of the hair is collected in the dust bin! Test passed successfully!
I even checked the condition of the brushes after a week of use in an apartment with a shedding pet. Even under these conditions, the brushes were clean, so I consider the updated cleaning module effective in preventing hair and fur from tangling!
Carpet cleaning
Additionally, debris was scattered on a low-pile carpet. I can say that the Dreame D20 Pro thoroughly cleaned the carpet. It also cleaned medium-pile carpet thoroughly. Test passed!
Wet cleaning and carpets
When wet cleaning on carpets, the robot has several options. It can automatically avoid them during wet cleaning, or it can ignore them and drive over them as it would on hard surfaces. It can also turn off the water supply when driving over carpets. In any case, contact between the wet cloths and the carpet is inevitable if the robot drives over them with the wet cleaning attachment attached, as there's no cloth lift feature on carpets.
Wet cleaning
As for the wet cleaning performance, this model is primitive by the standards of 2025. However, the robot is capable of cleaning light stains from the floor. Since the cleaning cloth doesn't extend to the edge of the body, the blind spot from the edge is approximately 5 cm.
The implemented wet cleaning function is suitable for delicate wiping of the floor and can be used to collect fine dust that the main turbo brush might miss.
Passability
There are some issues with maneuverability. The robot vacuum cleaner is physically capable of crossing 2 cm thresholds, but sometimes the wet cleaning attachment can get caught and stuck on thresholds. Sometimes, the robot would get stuck, sometimes not.
Driving on black surfaces
Driving over black carpets is no problem. The robot glides over the black carpet as if nothing had happened.
Noise level
Finally, we measured the robot's noise level in different modes. It ranged from 60 to 71.5 dB. This is a fairly standard result, especially considering the increased power.
Personal opinion
The Dreame D20 Pro robot vacuum cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 147 pointsAnd this is one of the best results, speaking about robots without a station, with a regular charging base.
Overall rating of robots tested on robovac.washerhouse.com: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.
First, I'll highlight the pros and cons of the tested robot vacuum cleaner, after which I'll express my own opinion about it.
I liked the following:
- Dual turbo brushes collect debris better, including not getting blocked by large debris, and do not tangle up fur and hair.
- The retractable side brush completely sweeps away debris from corners.
- High-quality dry cleaning on various surfaces, including medium-pile carpets.
- The robot cleans more accurately than its counterparts thanks to sensors on the front bumper.
- Increased suction power, both in real conditions and in the stated figures.
- Good autonomy at maximum power.
- Increased dust collector capacity.
- Complete Russification.
- A wide range of features for flexible cleaning settings, including a user mode and Yandex.Alice support.
- The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of black surfaces.
- Availability of warranty and service.
The following comments were found regarding the robot:
- The system for identifying objects requires improvement.
- The robot vacuum cleaner may get stuck on thresholds with the wet cleaning nozzle installed.
- The napkin holder does not rise on carpets.
- There remains a non-washable blind zone between the edge of the napkin and the baseboard.
- No station. In the $300 price range, robots can already be equipped with a station for washing cloths or at least self-cleaning the dust container. In these cases, the containers will have to be maintained manually.
Ultimately, considering all the pros and cons, I think this robot vacuum is a good choice if you don't need a station and prioritize dry cleaning. It's powerful, autonomous, and picks up dirt efficiently on a variety of surfaces, without the brushes picking up pet hair. Wet cleaning is more of a bonus if you only need to dust a small area.
That's all from me. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
