Dreame H11 Max: A wet stick vacuum cleaner with powerful suction and advanced features

The Dreame H11 Max cordless upright vacuum cleaner hit the market at the end of 2021, and it's safe to say it's one of the best in its segment in 2022. Priced at around $500, the Dreame H11 Max features a powerful motor, ergonomic design, and advanced features. Below, I'll thoroughly test this cordless floor vacuum to determine the most important thing: how well it performs at its core function and whether it's worth the money. So, let's get started!

The Dreame H11 Max arrived in this branded cardboard box:

The kit is complete. It includes all the necessary accessories, and the manufacturer's inclusion of a special cleaning solution is a big plus. Let's move on!

Appearance

Let's take a look at the design of the Dreame H11 Max upright wet/dry vacuum cleaner. Let's start with the cleaning module. The roller is located behind a transparent cover that locks on both sides. The roller is made of soft bristles. Behind the roller, in front of the suction opening, is a comb for detangling hair and pet hair. Below, again behind the roller, is a squeegee for collecting liquid and debris from the floor. We can also see that the roller doesn't extend all the way to the edge, which likely means this unit isn't capable of thoroughly cleaning the area along the baseboard, as will be confirmed in testing.

A dirty water tank is located above the cleaning module. It contains a HEPA filter with a mesh screen and a sensor system to monitor the water level. When the tank is full of dirty water, the Dreame H11 Max will alert you to empty it.

The clean water tank is located even higher. On top of it is an opening with a sealed valve for filling with water. A coarse filter is installed inside.

A highly informative LED display is located above the tank. It shows the battery percentage, operating mode, service messages, and a light indicator around the display indicates the suction power level.

It's worth noting right away that the Dreame H11 Max can automatically increase suction power depending on how dirty the floor is. Unfortunately, manual power adjustment is not possible.

The handle contains three mechanical control buttons: power on and off, switching between two operating modes (automatic and liquid collection), and starting the self-cleaning function when the vacuum cleaner is placed on the charging station.

It's important to note that there's another mechanical button on the back, which switches the voice package language. The Dreame H11 Max supports voice notifications in several languages, including Russian.

The high-capacity battery is particularly noteworthy. The manufacturer doesn't specify suction power, but some of it will be verified in tests. The noise level was personally tested and found to be between 72 and 72.5 dB. The unit operates quite quietly, as a cordless wet/dry vacuum cleaner goes.

Suction power

Now, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the Dreame H11 Max's suction power. I didn't add water to test how well it sucks up dirt dry. It managed to suck up dirt from crevices up to 10 mm deep, which is on par with standard upright vacuums. So far, I can say it's a truly powerful vacuum for cleaning floors.

Collecting debris on laminate flooring

When it comes to picking up various types of debris on laminate floors, the Dreame H11 Max handles the task with ease. It's capable of picking up not only small household debris but also pet hair. It's also worth noting that the roller barely picks up any pet hair. Test passed!

Carpet cleaning

This vacuum cleaner is not suitable for cleaning carpets for two reasons. First, it doesn't come with a dedicated carpet brush. Second, the water supply can't be turned off. However, with a dry roller and no clean water in the tank, I tested the Dreame H11 Max to see if it could handle this task. It did pick up some debris and pet hair, but without water or a full vacuum, all the debris ended up behind the roller rather than in the dedicated tank. So, this wet/dry vacuum cleaner isn't suitable for cleaning carpets, but it's not designed for that purpose. There's a separate, larger line for that. Dreame vacuum cleaners, including robots.

Washing the floor

But this vacuum cleaner does a fantastic job of washing floors, and I'll demonstrate that now.

The Dreame H11 Max is suitable not only for picking up liquids but also various mixtures, such as traditional egg and flour dough. It crushed the eggshells and picked up all the mush from the floor. Excellent results!

It also does a fantastic job of cleaning dirt from floors. The only issue is that, as expected, the Dreame H11 Max can't clean the narrow area along the baseboard, like most other upright vacuum cleaners reviewed. So far, only its main competitor has handled this task perfectly. Roborock Dyad.

This vacuum cleaner does an excellent job of removing tough, dried-on stains like coffee and sauce stains left overnight. Here, the proprietary cleaning solution I added to the tank came to its aid. It took less than four minutes to remove all the stains, while similar vacuums completed this test in about 10 minutes.

I can say that during testing, the Dreame H11 Max truly demonstrated high-quality floor cleaning and powerful suction. However, all tests were conducted on a single battery charge, and the battery was only half full. So, it's not only powerful, but also a cordless floor cleaner.

All that remained was to check the self-cleaning performance after all the tests, and here, again, the Dreame H11 Max impressed. It cleans dirt and debris effectively. The roller was clean after the self-cleaning cycle. The test was successful!

Let's sum it up

1. High quality floor washing and dirt removal.
2. High suction power.
3. Automatic power increase when contamination is detected.
4. Stylish design.
5. Ergonomic design.
6. Informative LED display on the body.
7. Self-cleaning function that effectively performs its task.
8. The noise level is below average.
9. Voice notifications in Russian.
10. Good complete set, including branded cleaning product.
11. High quality assembly.

Speaking of disadvantages, I didn’t like the following points:

1. Doesn't wash a narrow strip along the baseboard.
2. There is no manual adjustment of suction power.
3. There is no way to turn off the water supply when necessary or even regulate the water supply level.
4. Not suitable for cleaning carpets.

Overall, these criticisms are forgivable given all its advantages. Most importantly, the Dreame H11 Max does an excellent job of cleaning floors and scrubbing away tough stains, making it a definite recommendation. And, in my personal opinion, it's the most stylish upright vacuum cleaner on the market, and it certainly won't ruin your home's decor.
