Dreame V12 Pro: 2022's Top-of-the-Line Upright Vacuum Cleaner with a Powerful Motor

The Dreame V12 Pro upright vacuum cleaner boasts a claimed suction power of up to 210 AW, a full complement of attachments, an informative display, and an automatic power boost when detecting carpets. Dreame engineers have packed all this into a stylish and ergonomic vacuum cleaner. For such a complete package, you'll have to pay between $375 and $500. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Dreame V12 Pro and then share my opinion on its effectiveness and whether it's worth the money. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Main block.
- Extension tube.
- Basic floor nozzle.
- Wall holder with fasteners.
- Power adapter.
- Documentation for the vacuum cleaner with translation into Russian.
- Flexible connecting hose.
- Bendable adapter.
- Nozzle for cleaning mattresses and upholstered furniture.

The set is complete. That's a plus!
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Dreame V12 Pro upright vacuum cleaner. Let's start with the main unit. It's finished in graphite. On top is the filter cover, which features the brand logo. It's surrounded by a gold trim. It looks very stylish and adds a touch of luxury to the vacuum.
The vacuum cleaner is turned on and off by pressing the trigger. On the end is an information display and two mechanical control buttons: a power lock and a mode selector. Battery charge indicators are also located near the handle.
The battery itself, unfortunately, is non-removable. It features contact pads for convenient charging on a wall mount.
The air outlets are directed to the sides, not at your face. This is a plus. A blow-out HEPA filter is located on top. It can be washed with water. A foam filter is also located inside. The dust collector opens from the bottom with the press of a button. A cyclone with a mesh filter is located inside the flask. The manufacturer claims a 5-stage filtration system. Only four filters are removable. However, another foam filter is visible inside the air outlets, which is most likely the fifth one.
The dust container itself is not removable, which is inconvenient. But at least Dreame engineers have implemented a convenient solution: you can insert one of the attachments and rotate the cyclone, thereby removing it without direct contact with dust and debris. Interesting idea!
Let's take a look at the main floor nozzle. The plastic on top is transparent, allowing you to visually assess the roller's condition. The brush has short, stiff bristles. This design has proven itself effective for cleaning carpets. A fairly large suction hole is located behind the roller. The rubber wheels won't scratch your flooring. The roller lock is located on the side and is easily removed by hand. No additional tools are required, which is a plus. Another interesting design feature is the comb behind the brush. It helps detangle hair and fur from the roller as it rotates.
I'd also like to point out that the floor nozzle is equipped with a sensor that automatically detects carpets and signals the main unit to increase suction power in Auto mode. This feature allows you to conserve battery life and only activate Turbo mode on carpets where it's really needed.
The mattress and upholstery cleaning attachment also features a motorized brush with bristle inserts. A flat-head screwdriver or coin is needed to release the locking mechanism. One end of the roller can be removed to remove tangled hair and fur.
Speaking of additional attachments, the soft-bristled brush is perfect for picking up dirt and dust on delicate surfaces, while the retractable bristle brush can also be used around the home. A bendable adapter makes cleaning hard-to-reach areas and under low furniture easier. The flexible hose is convenient for cleaning car interiors and large structures, such as radiators.
One of the highlights of this vacuum cleaner is its crevice tool. Just look at how it's designed compared to the standard crevice tool found on budget vacuum cleaners. It's longer, better quality, has a locking mechanism, and most importantly, a really cool LED light that improves cleaning performance in low-light areas.
In general, all the attachments are included in the kit and they will be more than enough for household conditions.
Here's what the Dreame V12 Pro looks like assembled:
The last thing I'd like to highlight is the wall mount. It features contact pads for charging the vacuum cleaner and three additional attachment holders. Here's what it looks like when in use:
Overall, the vacuum cleaner's appearance and design are impressive and in keeping with the premium segment. My only complaints are the lack of a vertical parking system, the non-removable battery, and the dust container. For many, these issues may not be a deal-breaker.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Dreame V12 Pro, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Power consumption 650 W.
- Suction power up to 210 aW.
- Li-Ion battery 2700 mAh.
- Dust collector 500 ml.
- Operating time up to 85 min.
- Noise level 77.5-85.5 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 2.66 kg.
I personally measured the noise level with a sound level meter. At minimum power, it ranged from 77.5 to 78 dB, while in Turbo mode, the peak was 85.5 dB. This vacuum cleaner's noise level is slightly elevated, but not alarmingly so compared to more powerful alternatives.
As for weight, the main unit weighs 1,662 grams, the extension tube weighs 205 grams, and the main nozzle weighs 788 grams. The complete vacuum weighs 2,655 grams. This is a fairly standard weight for an upright vacuum. The center of gravity is strategically positioned low, preventing hand fatigue during use.
Testing
Suction power
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the Dreame V12 Pro's suction power on a test bench. This upright vacuum cleaner easily sucks up debris from a 10 mm gap in Turbo mode, so it can truly be considered powerful.
Opening hours
At maximum power, the Dreame V12 Pro lasts exactly 9.5 minutes. This is a fairly standard result. It's neither great nor bad, considering its high suction power.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the Dreame V12 Pro picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. This device handled the task well. It's important to note that it has no trouble picking up debris along baseboards and in corners. It picks everything up thoroughly. Hair and fur hardly ever get tangled up in the roller; they tend to stick to the pile insert. Regardless, cleaning is easy and convenient.
Carpet cleaning
The same debris was scattered on the carpet and the Dreame V12 Pro did an equally good job, thoroughly cleaning the carpet.
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the complete kit allows you to clean a sofa, areas beyond the reach of the main nozzle, and even car interiors. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.
Cleaning the dust collector
Finally, I'll tell you how to clean the dust bin. You press the button, and all the debris falls out through the bottom. Hair and fur can get stuck in the bin. This is where any of the attachments can come in handy; you can unscrew the cyclone without coming into contact with the debris. It's simple, but it would be nice to be able to completely remove the bin if needed.
Personal opinion
The Dreame V12 Pro cordless vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. Like all Dreame products, it left a largely positive impression. Based on my experience with it and testing it, I can highlight the following pros and cons.
I liked the following:
- Stylish design.
- Ergonomic design.
- Very high quality assembly.
- High suction power.
- High-quality waste collection on any surface.
- Complete set of attachments.
- Good filtration system.
- Automatic power boost function on carpets.
- Informative display on the body.
Speaking of drawbacks, there are more comments about the vacuum cleaner than serious drawbacks. Namely:
- Non-removable battery.
- Non-removable dust collector.
- No vertical parking.
Overall, the Dreame V12 Pro left mostly positive reviews. Its appearance is very appealing, and its build quality is also impressive. This applies not only to the vacuum itself, but also to all the included attachments. The main attachment has no blind spots, and it does an excellent job of picking up debris, so I have no reason not to recommend it. It's definitely one of the best. The best upright vacuums of 2022.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
