In this article, we'll review iBoto's flagship product, the iBoto Smart L920W Aqua robot vacuum cleaner. Equipped with lidar for navigation, it's suitable for both dry and wet cleaning, and is controlled via a proprietary mobile app. And all this functionality is available for $230–$280! It's certainly one of the most affordable robot vacuum cleaners with lidar, officially sold in many major chain stores. Let's take a look at the iBoto Smart L920W Aqua's design, its features and functions, and, most importantly, how well it performs its primary function. After watching the video, I'd be grateful if you'd appreciate my efforts by subscribing and liking. So, let's get started!

Equipment

First, let's look at the 920 model's package contents. In addition to the robot vacuum cleaner itself, the box contains:

  1. Charging base.
  2. Power adapter.
  3. Separate water tank with built-in microfiber cloth.
  4. Operating instructions and a quick start guide for the robot in Russian.

In my case, the package was limited. However, the manufacturer promises to include two spare side brushes, a filter, and a cleaning cloth in the new batch. It's also important to note that this model does not come with a remote control. This is a more important point.

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the iBoto Smart L920W Aqua's design. The body is round, with a white top cover. The robot's height from the floor is standard for lidar models, at approximately 95 mm.

On the top cover, we see the company logo and the installed lidar. Incidentally, it's equipped with a mechanical button to prevent it from getting stuck under furniture. This is a plus. Next to the lidar, there's a single start/pause button and a Wi-Fi connection indicator.

The front features a soft-touch mechanical bumper. On the side are a power button and a separate Wi-Fi reset button.

The dust bin is removable from the rear. It holds up to 450 ml of dry dirt. A tool for cleaning the dust bin and central brush is located on top. Below it is a filter compartment. This robot has a triple filtration system using HEPA, foam, and mesh filters. There is no safety flap to prevent accidental spillage.

The trash container can be replaced with a water tank. It has a small compartment for sweeping up debris.

It's important to note that the iBoto Smart L920W Aqua has separate dry and wet cleaning modes, but at least in wet cleaning mode, the robot can sweep up debris with its brushes. Apparently, the water supply to the cleaning cloth is electronic. The cleaning cloth itself is attached with Velcro, and water flows through four holes at the bottom. Incidentally, the tank itself holds up to 300 ml of water, enough for a full cleaning cycle.

Let's take a look at the robot vacuum's underside. It's equipped with six anti-fall sensors, just like premium models. It has two side brushes, three-beam, and quick-release.

Overall, the build quality of the iBoto Smart L920W Aqua is average, but better than budget lidar models from AliExpress.

Functional capabilities

Let's take a look at what the flagship Aiboto model can do. All functionality is available in a dedicated app developed specifically for this model. Connection is seamless. Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Everything is clearly explained in Russian.

Control via appControl via app

Control via app

In our case, the map has already been created and stored in the robot vacuum's memory. In the settings, you can adjust the suction power and enable a mode to resume cleaning after recharging at the base station, if the robot doesn't finish the entire cycle. There's also a do-not-disturb mode for a set time. You can set up a cleaning schedule by selecting the time and day of the week. You can also monitor the status of consumables, change the robot's name, and enable voice search.

Basic settingsBasic settings

On the main control panel, you can select one of three operating modes: automatic cleaning of the entire available area, selection of the desired rooms for cleaning with the number of passes in each room, and setting cleaning zones on the map.

You can also set no-go zones on the map. You can even set separate no-go zones for wet cleaning mode.

Restricted areas on the mapRestricted areas on the map

These are all the app's features. Basically, it has everything you need to automatically keep your home clean. I was especially pleased with the automatic room zoning and subsequent room selection for cleaning. Unfortunately, however, there's no option to adjust the water flow or manually control it. This is a drawback.

But the iBoto Smart L920W Aqua speaks Russian!

Testing

The video review has already been prepared and published, so we recommend watching our video with detailed tests:

Navigation

Let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check the robot vacuum's navigation in a room with obstacles. It first sweeps the entire accessible area along the perimeter, then switches to a serpentine pattern. The iBoto Smart L920W Aqua had trouble navigating around the dryer's legs. It didn't get stuck, though; it just took a long time to navigate that area. However, it swept around the box and chair legs separately. So, this model's navigation is good. Basic algorithms are in place for effective dust collection in complex layouts.

Navigating within a room

Regarding cleaning the entire apartment, the robotic vacuum cleaner divided the available space into zones, first traveling around the perimeter of each zone, and then cleaning within each zone in a serpentine pattern. This process continued in turn within each zone. No navigation issues were encountered. The cleaning speed was quite standard: 27 square meters were cleaned in 34 minutes, so the test was passed successfully.

Suction power

The iBoto Smart L920W Aqua couldn't boast of high suction power. All the cracks remained intact after the robot's passes.

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

This model's dust collection is excellent. It completely picked up all debris, including pet hair and fur, from the laminate flooring. Only a small amount of debris remained in the corners, but this is a weak point for all round robot vacuums.

Cleaning the carpet

The iBoto Smart L920W Aqua performed well on a medium-pile carpet. Thanks to its turbo brush, it was able to pick up all debris, including pet hair, from the carpet. The test was passed successfully.

Wet cleaning

Wet cleaning performance is also beyond reproach. This robot vacuum is capable of removing light stains, such as shoe marks, from laminate flooring. The only area left is a small area along the baseboard, where no other robot vacuum we tested was able to remove dirt. So, wet cleaning performance is no worse than similarly designed robot vacuums.

Obstacle clearance

In our tests, the iBoto Smart L920W Aqua was able to cross thresholds 15 and even 20 mm high, despite the manufacturer's stated maximum height being 15 mm. So, this model has good off-road performance.

Driving on dark surfaces

The 920 model is also not afraid of dark surfaces, and this is a plus.

Noise level

Finally, we measured the robot vacuum's noise level in different modes. In wet cleaning mode with the suction disabled, the noise level was no higher than 60 dB. At minimum power, it was within the same range, at medium power, the noise level was 62 dB, and at maximum power, the average was 66-67 dB. This is a standard noise level for this model.

Let's sum it up

The iBoto Smart L920W Aqua has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he was able to dial 60 out of 100 points, like his predecessor iBoto Smart Aqua C820W, a review of which was previously published on the channel. The 820 model has a remote control and Yandex Alice support, while the 920 model has more advanced functionality thanks to lidar. In any case, Lidar is better than a camera In terms of navigation, I still recommend the 920 model for larger areas. Its test results and overall score are good, considering the price.

As for the main advantages of the iBoto Smart Aqua C820W, which we discovered during testing, these are definitely:

  1. Good navigation, especially important is the automatic zoning of the space into rooms.
  2. The application provides useful features.
  3. The robot vacuum cleaner is suitable for dry and wet cleaning.
  4. The quality of cleaning is above average.
  5. Warranty and service support are provided.
  6. Optimal price considering functionality.
  7. The robot is not afraid of dark surfaces.

Among the disadvantages I would like to highlight:

  1. Electronic regulation of water supply is not provided.
  2. There is no manual control or remote control included.
  3. Poor equipment.
  4. The robot is not capable of vacuuming and mopping the floor at the same time.

In principle, the comments aren't all that critical and won't be of much importance to many. The robot still performed well in most respects, so it can rightfully be considered one of the best budget robots. robotic vacuum cleaners with lidar. Especially if you find an offer of $220–$230.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!

Hello! I have an iboto l920 w vacuum cleaner. There's no remote control included!!! They're referring to a smartphone app, but it's not that simple either. If you don't have a home network and a good smartphone, you won't be able to control the robot. The app only works with a network connection, so in a summer house, garage, new building, or for people without home internet access, you won't be able to control the robot. There's only one On/Off button on the body. You have to run around the apartment trying to catch it. Many people write in the descriptions that the dust container is full, but this robot collects 2-3 tablespoons of dust from a two-room apartment. The Aqua function is also useless. It's intermittent, meaning the water runs out unexpectedly. Overall, I don't recommend purchasing it.

I don't have internet at home either. I'm sharing Wi-Fi through an old smartphone and my mobile carrier.
Everything works. You can control it from anywhere. The program is on a Play Store. It draws a map, and you can see where the robot is at any given moment. I think you can even set up a virtual wall, but I haven't tried it yet.
Minimum for management. No cleaning by zones.

Of these, the iBoto 920 is the best, but there are probably better options for the same price. Please describe the terms in more detail and your maximum budget.
