Roborock Dyad: a vertical vacuum cleaner with an effective cleaning module

Roborock DyadRoborock Dyad

The latest new product I've reviewed is the Roborock Dyad cordless vacuum cleaner. Roborock is a Xiaomi sub-brand and primarily specializes in robotic vacuums. This first upright floor vacuum definitely piques my interest. It features a unique three-roller cleaning module and competitive specifications and features. Having previously tested similar devices, after a detailed review and testing of the Roborock Dyad, I'll share my opinion on how effective it is and whether it's worth the money. The price at the time of writing is in the $400-$500 range, placing it in the premium segment. So, let's get started!

Equipment

The package includes the wet/dry vacuum cleaner itself with a charging and self-cleaning station, a power adapter, a cleaning tool, a spare HEPA filter, and an instruction manual. Mine is in English. The package is standard.

Now let's take a look at how the Roborock Dyad works. First, let's briefly discuss its floor cleaning technology. This upright vacuum cleaner features separate tanks for clean and dirty water. Clean water is supplied to the rollers, and all collected debris and liquids are sucked into the dirty water tank. Now, let's take a closer look at each component.

Let's start with the cleaning module. It's worth noting because its three-roller system is not only unique but also more effective than most other cordless vacuum cleaners. The two rear rollers extend right up to the edge of the unit. This allows the Roborock Dyad to effectively clean along baseboards and furniture.

The main roller is located behind the removable front cover and is easily removed for cleaning. The additional rollers are removed by twisting.

Let's move on to a review of the tanks. The dirty water tank has a capacity of 620 ml. It contains a HEPA filter with a mesh screen, a float, and a coarse filter.

The clean water tank has a capacity of 850 ml. It is equipped with a sealed water inlet valve and an internal filter.

The display deserves special attention. It displays battery status, the selected cleaning mode, and service messages. The Roborock Dyad also features voice notifications. However, in my case, the vacuum cleaner only speaks English. It would be nice if a Russian-language version were released.

The vacuum cleaner handle itself has three mechanical control buttons: power on/off, switching between cleaning modes (automatic or Turbo mode), and starting the self-cleaning function on the charging station.

Oh, and another unique feature of the vacuum cleaner is its kickstand, which allows for temporary parking while cleaning. You can either prop it up against a wall or park it on the floor for a short break. For example, to empty the dirty water from the tank or refill it with clean water.

Overall, I was pleased with the build quality and design of the Roborock Dyad. The vacuum cleaner is very ergonomic and stylish.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of Roborock Dyad, as stated by the manufacturer:

  • Battery: Li-Ion, 5130 mAh.
  • Power consumption: 260 W.
  • Suction power: up to 13000 Pa.
  • Charging time up to 4 hours.
  • Working time: up to 35 min.
  • Clean water tank: 850 ml.
  • Dirty water tank: 620 ml.
  • Serviced area: 280 m².
  • Noise level: 75-77 dB.
  • Weight: 5 kg.

Overall, the specifications are quite competitive. The only thing worth noting is the weight. The vacuum cleaner is a bit heavy compared to similar models, but the weight is well distributed, so your hand won't get tired during use.

Noise levels were measured with a sound level meter during real-world tests. In automatic mode, the noise level was between 75-76 dB, while at maximum power, it reached 77 dB. This is a fairly standard value, so I have no complaints.

Speaking of battery life, in my case, the vacuum cleaner lasted about 30 minutes on maximum power. In automatic mode, it runs even longer, using the battery more efficiently, making the battery life truly long for a cordless vacuum cleaner.

Testing

And finally, let's move on to the tests. We'll see how well the Roborock Dyad performs at its primary task – cleaning floors. There will be several tests, from simple to more complex.

Detailed video review with all tests:

The vacuum cleaner handles everyday floor cleaning well. In automatic mode, it automatically adjusts suction power based on the degree of dirtiness of the floor. Liquid is thoroughly sucked into the dirty water tank, leaving no streaks or puddles.

The Roborock Dyad also does a very good job of collecting sand. It can even suck up wet sand from cracks between tiles.

The Roborock Dyad is also suitable for picking up spilled liquids and even thick mixtures, like a broken raw egg in my case.

Dirt collection is seamless. The device can suck up various types of debris, thoroughly collecting it even along baseboards. However, there is still a small blind spot in corners.

Even low-pile carpets can be vacuumed with this wet/dry vacuum cleaner. However, the water supply cannot be shut off, so the vacuum will wet the carpet, which is undesirable.

A more challenging test is scrubbing dried-on dirt from laminate flooring. The Roborock Dyad handles this task well. It leaves no traces of dirt or streaks, which is a plus.

And finally, the most challenging test was removing dried-on coffee and sauce stains. It took me 11 minutes to remove the dried-on sauce from the stand. At least the Roborock Dyad managed to complete this task, so I can say the cleaning module is truly effective. And if you add the proprietary cleaning solution mentioned on the manufacturer's official website to the water tank, I'm sure the vacuum cleaner will remove stubborn stains even faster and more effectively. Unfortunately, it wasn't included.

After all the tests, I decided to test the self-cleaning capabilities of this upright vacuum cleaner. As recommended by the manufacturer, I filled the tank with clean water, drained the dirty liquid, and started the machine. After picking up a large amount of debris, the cleaning module was in a very poor condition, and the self-cleaning function performed poorly. However, under normal household conditions, the Roborock Dyad self-cleans quite adequately, on par with similar products.

Let's sum it up

The tests are over. I'll share my thoughts on the Roborock Dyad after a detailed review and testing. Here's what I liked:

  1. An effective cleaning module based on three rollers.
  2. Long battery life.
  3. Automatic suction power increase function.
  4. Removes dirt right up to the baseboard.
  5. High quality assembly.
  6. Ergonomic design.
  7. Parking is available outside the station.
  8. Voice notifications, which I hope will be translated into Russian.
  9. Availability of self-cleaning function.

This model also has its drawbacks. I would like to highlight the following:

  1. There is no way to turn off the water supply during operation, for example, when cleaning carpets or simply dry cleaning the room.
  2. It takes time to remove difficult stains.
  3. Non-removable battery.
  4. The weight is higher than that of similar products.

In principle, the criticisms aren't all that critical and will be insignificant for many. The Roborock Dyad performs its primary function well, and I think it deservedly ranks among the best cordless vacuum cleaners of 2022. All that remains is to test its main competitor, the Dreame H11 Max, and perhaps one of Bissel's flagship vacuum cleaners to determine whose floor cleaning technology is the most effective.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye.

He doesn't clean under the bed, of course? Let's put that miracle yudo aside, grab a good old mop, and clean it up... Beautiful!

How long does it take to complete the final test with the cleaning agent? H11 Max takes 4 minutes with the cleaning agent, but here it's 11 minutes without it.

Roborock didn't come with a cleaning solution, so I didn't check it.

This creates a problem with interpreting the results. You need to either perform two tests with and without the product (preferably the same one). Or just without the product.

    What to say?
The choice was made in favor of Dyad, since it has two brushes (one large, two small, working towards each other).
I won't buy this washing vacuum cleaner again.
    Story:
    House 240 m2.
In the spring, I bought a Dyad vacuum cleaner on AliExpress. I also bought some non-foaming professional cleaning products specifically for these types of vacuum cleaners (used primarily in hotels).
It lasted about a month. I contacted the seller and they told me to take it to a service center for diagnostics. The water pump had failed, displaying an E5 error. The seller offered a 50% discount on a second identical unit.
    Bought.
I didn't use any detergent in this one, just water.
It broke after a month of use. Error E5. It doesn't suck up water, it just pours it out.
All the photos are there, but there is no option to attach them.
I do not recommend purchasing it until the problem with the pump is resolved.

Brand representatives say this model has a 3% defect rate, but they've apparently been releasing a new batch since September that has addressed some of the issues (I'm not sure about this one specifically). I've had the Roborock Dyad working for a few months now; I kept it after testing it, and I'm happy with it; so far, I haven't found any issues.

I had Dayad working for several months, I bought it on the advice of a friend, he has been using it for a long time.

One of the best, I'm still researching alternatives. I bought a Dream yesterday, I'll give it a try. I have five offices, and I need to finally keep them clean!… The ladies with the rags mostly smear the dirt, they're too tired to squeal.

    +:
It's really much better than a rag or mop.

    -:
    1. You need to remember to empty the container with the dirty liquid; it goes out instantly. This makes the "wipe in between" mode difficult. But, as I understand it, this is a common problem with detergent sticks.
    2. No dry cleaning. This is also common. It's annoying! 🤣🤣🤣 And if you're going to suck up the kids' spilled water, why add water to the puddle?!!!
    3. After a couple of months, the corrugated hose connecting the brushes cracked. I'm planning to tape it up for now. Maybe it's the cleaning lady's revenge... 🤣🤣🤣 I forbade her from cleaning with a mop. Or maybe I was just unlucky...

Summary: "You're on the right track, comrades!"

If you leave the rollers alone, they quickly fade, even after a couple of hours. They don't dry well enough, but I think the pro version is better. How do I clean and disinfect the rollers? I wash them by hand with soap every few cleanings (I take them out to dry immediately after self-cleaning). Is it possible to wash them in the washing machine or dishwasher?
