Roborock Q7 Max+: A robot vacuum cleaner with self-cleaning and wet mopping that offers the best value for money

Roborock Q7 Max+Roborock Q7 Max+

The Roborock Q7 Max+ robot vacuum cleaner is a new product for 2022. At first glance, it appears to be a simplified version of the Roborock S7. It has the same design, a slightly modified self-cleaning station, and a cleaning module with silicone side and center brushes. However, there are some changes to the wet cleaning functionality: the cleaning platform doesn't vibrate or lift when driving on carpets. This allowed us to reduce the price from $750 to $550-$600. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Roborock Q7 Max+, after which I'll share my opinion on the applications for which this robot makes sense to save money. At the end of the review, you'll find a purchase link and a unique promo code for a discount. So, let's get started!

Equipment

The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:

Box

In addition to the robot itself and the self-cleaning station, the delivery package includes:

  1. Spare bag for the station.
  2. Power adapter.
  3. Nozzle with a cloth for wet cleaning.
  4. An envelope containing the operating instructions. The inside of the envelope itself contains a brief guide to getting the robot up and running for the first time.

The package includes only the bare minimum. A spare HEPA filter and a damp cloth are missing.

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the new Roborock Q7 Max+. Let's start with the robot vacuum itself. It's round and comes in both white and black. The soft-touch mechanical bumper houses a wall sensor and an obstacle detection sensor.

Three mechanical control buttons are located on the top control panel. A lidar sensor is used for navigation. It is equipped with a mechanical button to prevent the robot from getting stuck under furniture. A combined waste and water container is located under the top cover. The filtration system is HEPA-only. The waste compartment holds 470 ml, while the water tank holds 350 ml. Water flow is regulated electronically, and the pump is located inside the robot, not in the tank.

The robot's underside is equipped with four fall protection sensors. It has a single side brush: a five-point silicone brush secured with a screw. The central brush unit is floating.

Let's take a closer look at the self-cleaning station. First, it needs to be assembled. For this purpose, the manufacturer has provided convenient storage for the hex key on the bottom of the station.

Assembling the stationAssembling the station

Assembling the station

The station's design differs from the one optionally available for the Roborock S7. Dirt is still discharged through the central brush unit. The suction channel can be disassembled for cleaning, should a large object become lodged while emptying the container into the bag.

The station's top cover is easily removed. A waste bag is located underneath. The suction channel shutter closes automatically when the bag is removed.

Overall, the build quality of the Roborock Q7 Max+ is high, with my only complaint being the single-level filtration system.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of the Roborock Q7 Max+, as stated by the manufacturer:

  • Li-Ion battery 5200 mAh.
  • Suction power up to 4200 Pa.
  • Operating time up to 180 min.
  • Cleaning area up to 300 sq.m.
  • Dust collector 470 ml.
  • Water tank 350 ml.
  • Obstacle clearance up to 20 mm.
  • Dimensions: 350*97 mm.

Among the characteristics, it is important to highlight the increased capacity of the dust collector and water tank, as well as the high declared suction power, which will be verified in tests.

Functional capabilities

Let's move on to an overview of the Roborock Q7 Max+'s features. The robot vacuum cleaner can be controlled via both the Mi Home app and the proprietary Roborock mobile app. Connecting to the network is straightforward; follow the manufacturer's instructions.

On the main control panel, the robot vacuum cleaner creates a room map and automatically divides it into rooms. Below the map are three main operating modes: cleaning the entire available area, cleaning selected rooms, and cleaning selected zones on the map. You can also set the number of passes the robot makes: from 1 to 3.

Cleaning modesCleaning modes

Cleaning modes

To the right is a section that allows you to adjust the suction power and the degree of wetting of the cloth. There's even a section for customizing the power and water flow level for each room. It's very convenient.

Setting up cleaning parametersSetting up cleaning parameters

Setting up cleaning parameters

At the very bottom of the screen are functions for starting the cleaning process and forcing the container to self-clean. An interesting feature is the ability to create a 3D map of the room. You can set virtual walls and no-go zones on the map, even creating separate no-go zones for wet cleaning mode.

Working with the mapWorking with the map

Working with the map

Additionally, in the map editor, you can manually arrange furniture according to your layout, set the cleaning order for rooms, and select flooring types. Incidentally, the Roborock Q7 Max+ supports storing multiple maps in its memory, which is a plus.

In the vacuum cleaner settings, you can turn off the indicator light, enable automatic suction power increase when driving on carpets, activate the child lock, and set the time when the robot vacuum cleaner should not disturb you.

In the self-cleaning station settings, you can select one of four dust collection modes. Speaking of voice alerts, you can adjust their volume and select a language. Unfortunately, the global version of the Roborock Q7 Max+ does not have a Russian voice pack.

Basic settingsBasic settings

Basic settings

Additionally, you can set up a cleaning schedule by selecting the time, days of the week, cleaning mode, and, if necessary, the desired rooms.

There is also a spot cleaning mode, manual control, a cleaning log, and a section that displays the status of consumables.

The Roborock Q7 Max+'s functionality is on par with premium competitors. It has everything you need to flexibly customize its settings to your needs. It's also worth noting that the robot vacuum supports voice control via Yandex.Alice and can resume cleaning after recharging at the base station.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Roborock Q7 Max+, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Navigation

Let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Roborock Q7 Max+'s navigation in a room with obstacles. First, the robot vacuum cleaner navigates the room's perimeter, then sweeps the entire accessible area in a zigzag pattern. The legs of a clothes dryer presented no problems. The robot also swept around a box and table legs, then returned to the charging base. Test successful!

Navigating an Obstacle RoomNavigating an Obstacle Room

Navigating an Obstacle Room

Speaking of navigation within an apartment, the Roborock Q7 Max+ cleans room by room in a serpentine pattern, then along the perimeter. There are no uncleaned areas, and the cleaning speed is high. This model has excellent navigation.

Navigation within the homeNavigation within the home

Suction power

The claimed suction power actually turned out to be very high. On par with its predecessor. Roborock S7The robot vacuum cleaner was able to suck up debris even from a 10 mm gap!

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

The collection quality of various types of debris on laminate floors is very high. The robot vacuum thoroughly picks up various types of debris, including pet hair and hair. It only misses a small area in corners, like most other round robot vacuums. It's also important to note that hair hardly gets tangled in the brush. Most of the debris is collected in the dust bin, which is a plus!

Cleaning the carpet

When it comes to cleaning cows, the Roborock Q7 Max+ does a good job. Test passed!

Cleaning the carpetCleaning the carpet

Cleaning the carpet

Wet cleaning

The robot did a good job of removing dirt. It only left a small strip along the baseboard, which all the robot vacuums we tested couldn't reach due to their design.

Wet cleaningWet cleaning

Wet cleaning

It's also important to note that the Roborock Q7 Max+ can vacuum and mop at the same time, which is a plus!

Wet cleaning and carpets

Even though the Roborock Q7 Max+ can recognize carpets, it doesn't automatically avoid them during wet cleaning. Therefore, to protect carpets from getting wet, I recommend setting up separate no-go zones for wet cleaning.

Self-cleaning quality

Regarding self-cleaning, in my opinion, emptying the dust through the central brush unit isn't the best solution. Small household debris is easily discharged from the container into a bag in the station, but pet hair can get stuck between the brush and the suction channel. So, I believe emptying the dust through special holes in the dust bin, as is the case with other self-cleaning robot vacuums, is a better solution.

Obstacle clearance

The Roborock Q7 Max+ can have trouble crossing thresholds. With the cleaning cloth attached, it can't even cross a 15 mm threshold. However, without the wet cleaning attachment, it can easily handle this threshold. The robot vacuum cleaner has difficulty crossing 2 cm thresholds, and even then, not always.

Driving on dark surfaces

This model has issues with driving over dark surfaces. However, they're not as pronounced as before. Sometimes the robot will drive over dark carpet, and sometimes it will back up. The sensors seem to have become less sensitive to dark surfaces, but the issue hasn't been completely resolved.

Noise level

As for noise levels, in "Silent" mode it's between 60-62 dB, in "Balanced" mode it reaches 65 dB, in "Turbo" mode the noise level reaches 67 dB, and in maximum power mode the peak was 74 dB. The noise level is slightly above average, but it's important to consider the high suction power, so I have no complaints.

Let's sum it up

Roborock Q7 Max+ has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 82 out of 100 points and enter the TOP-5 best tested robotic vacuum cleanersThe result is 3 points lower than the Roborock S7, as its predecessor received additional points for its cleaning pad lifting mechanism on carpets.

I'll share my personal opinion about the robot. I liked the following:

  1. Good navigation.
  2. High quality dry and wet cleaning.
  3. High suction power.
  4. Easy cleaning of the central brush from tangled hair and fur.
  5. Flexible cleaning settings in the app.
  6. Availability of a self-cleaning station.
  7. High quality assembly.
  8. Yandex.Alice support.
  9. Optimal price.

Speaking of shortcomings, the following problems were discovered during testing:

  1. Not very good obstacle clearance.
  2. Fear of dark floor coverings.
  3. Lack of Russian voice pack in the global version.

Overall, this model's advantages far outweigh its disadvantages, making the Roborock Q7 Max+ definitely worth considering and a very attractive option for the price. I would recommend this model primarily for cleaning hard floors. It's essentially an updated Roborock S5 Max with self-cleaning and a new center brush. However, if your home or apartment has a lot of carpet, the Roborock S7, which automatically lifts the cleaning cloth on carpeted floors, makes sense. Otherwise, the robots are identical in functionality, specifications, and cleaning performance.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!

    Good afternoon
What should I choose given the robot's release? For a 70 sq m apartment, laminate flooring throughout, one 3x3 short-pile rug, two adults and one small one just starting to crawl. Budget: up to 35k+
I'm looking for a happy medium between dry and wet cleaning. I was considering the Roborock Q7 Max+, but without the docking station.
For general cleaning there is a cloth) and the Dreame v9 is vertical.

  • Dmitry

Good afternoon. Could you please tell me which robot vacuum cleaner I should buy? My area is 50 square meters. The floors are all laminate, and I have a cat and a wife with long hair. Should I get the Roborock Q7 without the self-cleaning feature? Or would you recommend something else?

    • Admin

Hello! The Luche Q7 Max doesn't have self-cleaning. Or the Hobot Legee D7, which is a top choice for your needs, but it'll be released a little later.

  • Oleg

    Hello!

I was about to buy the Dreame z10 pro, but I came across this vacuum cleaner.
Please tell me what are the main differences between them?

As I understand it, this Roborock has more suction power and a slightly smaller dust bag.

  • Admin

    Good afternoon
Question: does the Q7 have a cleaning setting that allows you to set the machine to dry clean first, followed by wet cleaning automatically? If so, could you send a screenshot of the settings? Preferably with the app in English. I'm currently in touch with the support team, hoping they'll add this option to the S7 model. Thanks in advance!

    • Ildar

Did you read or watch the review? The Q7 can't lift the cloth. Put the cloth on, and it's dry and wet. Take it off, and it's only dry.

  • Sokolov Kirill Petrovich

Hello, why does the base usually cost half as much as a vacuum cleaner, and why is it even needed if you just dump the trash in there and then have to clean it yourself? What is its function?

  • Andrey

Hello, I miss the days when there were roughly two models of Roborok—the Mi Vacuum and the S5—and it was pretty clear which one to choose. Now it's become a bit more complicated.

Apartment 85 meters, two cats and a child.
Washability and self-cleaning aren't a big priority. Good dust and hair collection are key.

    Please advise what to take.
    I'm choosing between s7, q7 and dreame l10pro.

I previously bought my first S5, and its lidar motor often malfunctioned (I had to power it with batteries), and then the board failed.

    • Admin

Hello! If you don't have carpets, go with the Q7 or L10. I think the Q7 is better. If you do have carpets, go with the S7. Another great option is the Hobot LEGEE-D7. It sweeps into corners and does a great job of collecting pet hair without tangling it. Check out my review.

      • Alex

        Good afternoon.

Could you please tell me if the apartment only has hard floors and there's a cat? Wet cleaning isn't important. I'd like high-quality dry cleaning and self-cleaning.
So that you can set up daily dust and hair collection, and only touch the robot once a month or less often.
So which option is more suitable - Dreame Bot D10 Plus, Dreame Bot Z10 Pro, Roborock Q7 Max+, or some others?

Or will they all have problems with cat hair getting caught on the brush or emptying it from the dust bin? That is, even with a self-cleaning station, the robot will still need daily maintenance. If so, perhaps it's worth considering the Hobot LEGEE-D7 or Hobot LEGEE-7, even though they don't have self-cleaning?

        • Admin

I think in your case, you could go with the Roborock Q7 Max+. The Legee 7 isn't the best option. The D7 is fine if you're willing to sacrifice self-cleaning.

  • Natalia

    Hello.
First of all, thanks for the great reviews of as many robotics as possible👍🏻
Secondly, after reading and looking at them, the average person gets so immersed in the topic that choosing, say, a robot vacuum cleaner, is simply a torment among the abundance of them))
    I need help from a specialist🙏🏻
We have: 3-room apartment, 80 sq.m., one small carpet in the children's room, lint-free☝🏻, 6 animals (all shed except the hairless cat🙈😄), 1 child 6 years old, a young woman with long hair, well, and another +1, but from him hair and fur is min))
Self-cleaning isn't an option, wet cleaning isn't essential (there's a steam mop), but high-quality dry cleaning is crucial! There are allergy sufferers in the house. Budget: 35-40 thousand rubles.
    Thank you🙏🏻

  • Elena

    Good afternoon
Help me choose a self-cleaning robot)
There are no carpets or animals, but there are two long-haired girls.
Budget 50 thousand rubles, area 100 sq.m and dark laminate.
I liked the Roborock Q7 max, but I'm concerned about its "dark surface fear." Is it afraid of dark areas on a light surface? Or is a completely dark surface just not for it?

  • Admin

I was pleasantly surprised by your review of the Roborock Q7 Max+. I'm currently choosing a robot vacuum for my large home, which has a cat. I found the Global version of the Roborock Q7 Max+, but couldn't find an answer to whether it can be updated to Russian. Could you please tell me if it's possible to update the firmware, or should I consider other models?

  • Alexey

Hello. Is the obstacle detection sensor the same as the one in the Roborock S7 MaxV? I have a dog, and sometimes it poops in the wrong places. Thank you.

  • Elena

Hello! Thank you for your reviews and for making me doubtful again.
I need your help. I had an iRobot for many years, and it still works, but without mapping the apartment, it's difficult; it just cleans wherever it chooses. I bought a Xiaomi Vacuum Cleaner S1. Everything was fine until it broke after a few cleanings. First the lidar, then the same thing again, and now the motherboard. I have no desire to fix it. I was considering getting the tried-and-true iRobot i7. But I found your reviews and now I'm confused. I understand that there are better models out there, but I just can't trust them anymore after Xiaomi. I have an apartment of over 100 square meters, a cat, and four other people (two with long hair😂), laminate flooring, tile, and three low-pile carpets. Budget: up to $600

  • Egor

Hello, I'm really struggling to decide. My apartment is 56 square meters, no carpets or thresholds, just laminate and porcelain tiles. I'm deciding between the Midea S8+ and the Roborock Q7 Max+. The price difference is negligible right now, but which is better?

  • Lily

Good afternoon. I can't decide what to buy. Please help. Should I get the Roymi Eve Plus or Roborock Q7 Max robot vacuum? My apartment is 64 sq m.

  • Irina

    Good evening!
The apartment is 130 square meters, there are three long-haired girls, no pets or carpets, but there is plenty of dust and trash from the children))
    I don't need a regular cleaning, I just want a squeaky clean.
And the dust container is large. What do you recommend?
To be honest, I'm torn between the Q7 and Q7 max.

  • Nataly

Hello. Thank you for your reviews. Thanks to them, I've already bought three robot vacuums for family and friends. Now our robot is broken, and we'd like to get a new model. Our house is 120 square meters, with carpets in two rooms and tile and laminate in the others. There's plenty of pet hair.
I was considering this model, but I was confused by the fact that it doesn’t recognize carpets. I also looked at the Lydsto R1.
What would you recommend for a budget of 30-40 thousand?
    Thank you in advance.

    • Admin

Buy this or the Roborock S7 if you have carpets. Both are good. Another interesting model is the new Dreame Bot L10s Pro. The review will be out towards the end of the month.

  • Hope

Hello, please tell me which one should I choose? I'm confused between the Roborock Q7 Max+ and the Dreame Bot Z10 Pro. How reasonable is the Dreame's object detection system if the Roborock already avoids all objects on the floor? And is the Roborock's wet cleaning clearly better than the Dreame's? Roborocks have no problems with combined containers, since they contain water and dust in one.

    • Admin

The Dreamy is much cleaner in any case. But the Roborock is more powerful and the brush is easier to clean. I like it a little better. Wet cleaning is also a little better. I don't see anything wrong with the combined container.

  • Alexandra

Hello, please tell me your top picks for self-cleaning vacuum cleaners (without rinsing the cloth). If you don't have carpets, 3D tracking and a camera aren't important. What's important are dry cleaning performance, suction power into the large dust chute at the station, and reliable build quality, along with a warranty.

  • Victoria

    Hello.
    Q7 Max (without self-cleaning) or L10 Pro?
Dog hair, long hair and a small child.

  • Svetlana

Good afternoon! I've watched so many of your amazing and super detailed reviews, and now I'm deciding between the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO T9 AIVI+ and the Roborock Q7 MAX Plus, I can't decide. I'd love to see a comparison review of these models. Both robots are powerful and worthy. But which one is better? Is it easier to use? And why?

Your professional opinion would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!

  • Ilya

I'm looking for my first robot vacuum. I live in a small apartment, about 45 square meters, and I have a medium-sized fluffy dog, a cat, and a long-haired girlfriend. I'm torn between the Q7 Max and the Dreame Bot L10 Pro: which is better for both dry and wet cleaning?

  • Oleg

Hello, I have a 100m2, 2-story house. Which robot vacuum cleaner would be best?
And won't it become slow when I drag it from floor to floor?

  • Olga

I read every review I could, but it didn't help me choose a vacuum cleaner. I still don't understand how necessary a self-cleaning station is.
The apartment is 60 m², occupied by two adults (one with short hair and one with medium length). The floors are quartz vinyl. There's no carpet yet, but a carpet with a pile of about 1 cm will be installed. The apartment is 3 x 2 m in size. There are no pets, but the occasional guest per month has long hair. There's no time for cleaning. Both dry and wet cleaning are welcome.
Please recommend a good vacuum cleaner.

  • Evgeny

    Good afternoon
Thank you so much for such informative work. We're looking for our family's first robot vacuum cleaner. We learned a lot from your reviews and articles.
We settled on the Q7 Max+. Unfortunately, it's no longer available on AliExpress.
In Russia there is Max+, but the price is around $500.
Q7 Max Deals Available for $159
I couldn't find any information about this model in your reviews.
Can you tell me a little about the difference?
    Our budget is $350-400
    Thank you in advance.

  • Igor

Hello, am I correct in understanding that the problem of the robot not picking up the cleaning cloth when it hits a carpet in wet cleaning mode can be solved by turning off the water supply or setting it to a minimum for the carpeted room in the app settings.

    • Admin

Well, at least that's true. But it would be better to have separate dry cleaning and separate dry and wet cleaning, with designated wet cleaning zones on carpets.

  • Konstantin

Help me choose. I have a 66 sq. m. apartment, a child, a wife with long hair, no cats or dogs, and no carpets. I'm budgeting around 30,000 rubles, so I chose the Q7 Max without a station, but the Dreame Robot Vacuum Bot L10 Pro is also available at the same price. I know about the recognition feature, but as far as I understand, it's mediocre. There's a large dark mat at the entrance, so the Dreame will have problems. I also wanted a more or less effective wet cleaning. What would you recommend? I'm leaning toward the Q7 without a station.

  • Julia

Hello! I've already looked through over two dozen of your awesome reviews and... I'm completely confused))) Please advise me on what's best.
The apartment is 60 square meters, with linoleum throughout. There's a 2.5 cm threshold in the bathroom (currently a sore spot for the old vacuum cleaner). A girl and a child with long hair, a man, and a rather fluffy bone.
I need a good dry and wet cleaning (because I don't want to waste time on that), and I'm not interested in a self-cleaning station. It's important that the robot doesn't get stuck in socks, toys, or chair legs.
I personally looked at the Legee D7, Ecovacs T9/N8 (I didn’t understand the difference between them) and Roborock Q7.
I would like to keep it within 25-35 thousand.
Thank you very much in advance)
I want to order on Ali.

  • Olga

Hello. I'd like some advice on purchasing a robot vacuum cleaner. I live in a two-story house, about 180 square meters, with laminate and tile flooring, and a single rug in the children's room. We have no pets. I need both dry and wet cleaning. The self-cleaning feature is appealing. I'd like the instructions and all the necessary information in Russian. I've never owned a robot vacuum before, so I have nothing to compare it to, and I'm already confused by the reviews...

  • Yana

Hello! I'm looking for a vacuum cleaner, 65 m², tile and laminate floors, and a small carpet in one room. I have two cats that shed heavily and a person with long hair. I'd like a good dry cleaning, with wet cleaning a bonus. It would be nice if it avoided cat vomiting, if possible, and didn't chew cords.
I'm considering the Roborock Q7 (probably without the station, as I've seen that yours cleans hair and fur poorly), the Roborock S7 MaxV, or the Hobot Legee-D7.
Before this, we had a very simple Xiaomi, so we're not spoiled by vacuum cleaners.

  • Michael

    Good afternoon.
The apartment is 120 m2, 5 rooms, one small carpet, toys and their parts of the 6-year-old son are regularly lying on the floor.
This model, taking into account bonuses (which I will then successfully redeem) from one store, the price will be 23,000
Should I just buy it and be sure? Or can I find something better in the under-30,000 category?
The only thing I miss in this model is the ability to avoid small obstacles. Please tell me, is this possible in models priced under 30,000?

  • Ekaterina

Good afternoon! I'm considering buying a robot vacuum cleaner with self-cleaning and wet mopping. My apartment is 38 sq m, no carpets (except for the ones by the door), no pets, and two residents. Please help me choose one. I don't expect anything more from the wet mopping feature, but I'd like it to at least pick up dust without smearing or leaving puddles—in short, something that's useful. Current candidates include the Dreame Z10, Roborock Q7 Max Plus, Xiaomi Mija Pro, Dream Bot D10 Plus, and Midea S8+. Each one has its own issues, and there are pros and cons. Please help me choose the best value for money option.

  • Suzanne

Hello. Could you please tell me about the robot with the station, specifically dry and wet? The floor is black and white checkerboard tiles (kitchen and hallway), and there are no pets. I was deciding between the Roidmi Eve Plus and the Roborok Q7 Max Plus, and my budget is under 35,000 rubles. I've never had a robot vacuum before, so I'm already confused.

    • Admin

It's better to get a Roborock. As far as I know, it only has problems with black carpets; it shouldn't have problems with tiles; I checked this with similar machines.

  • Tatiana

Good afternoon. I'm deciding between the q7 and q7 max. I've read a lot of reviews, but I can't figure out if only the q7 max pressure washes or if the q7 also uses pressure on the cleaning cloth? And do both vacuums have a wet/dry function?

    • Admin

Both vacuum and mop simultaneously. The difference is that the Q7 uses gravity-fed water to feed the cleaning cloth, while the Q7 Max has a pump. This prevents water from leaking out when the robot is on its base, and the water flow rate can be adjusted.

  • Andrey

    Good afternoon
I used a Xiaomi vacuum cleaner for about 3 years, everything was fine, but it started to break, so I’m thinking about what to choose instead.
I'm skeptical about wet cleaning, but progress can't be stopped, so I guess I need to try it out to see how it works.
I'm not looking at expensive models; at the moment, the choice is between the Q7MAX and S5MAX.
The apartment is 73 square meters, no carpets, laminate or tile floors. There are two adults, two children, and a short-haired cat at home.
Most likely, the basic scenario will be dry cleaning every day and wet cleaning once a week (to prevent unpleasant odors and mold from the container and rag). Which of the proposed options is better? The budget is roughly the same.
