ROIDMI NEO: a dual-mode wet/dry vacuum cleaner

The ROIDMI NEO upright vacuum cleaner, priced at around $400 or $300, boasts a roller positioned at the edge of the body, a self-cleaning and self-drying function for the roller on the base, a sterilization function for clean water in the tank, and even connectivity with the ROIDMI mobile app. Below, I'll show you how the ROIDMI NEO works, what it can do, and then give my opinion on whether it's worth the money. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Charging and self-cleaning base with accessory holders.
- Removable handle.
- Power adapter.
- Spare roller.
- Spare HEPA filter.
- Vacuum cleaner cleaning brush.
- Operating instructions in English.
The package is good. There are even spare consumables. The only thing missing to be completely satisfied is the manufacturer's cleaning solution.
Appearance
Let's take a look at the ROIDMI NEO's design. Let's start with the cleaning module. It consists of a single soft-bristled roller, offset to the right, toward the edge of the housing. The roller doesn't extend all the way to the edge; there's a locking mechanism behind it. However, the width of the so-called blind spot has been reduced.
Interestingly, the top of the lid features a water spray nozzle, similar to the Jimmy HW10 Pro, which was previously reviewed on the channel. Water is automatically supplied to the roller under the lid, but you can also spray water manually to, for example, dissolve stains or increase floor wetting.
The top cover is removable. The roller is pulled out from the side. The latch is non-removable, which isn't ideal. I'll show you why in my tests. Behind the roller is a squeegee for collecting residual water from the floor, as well as a suction port.
A 690 ml dirty water tank is located above the cleaning module. It contains a HEPA filter with a mesh screen. The dirty water level detection system, using optical sensors, is ingeniously implemented. A coarse filter is also located inside the tank.
On the opposite side of the housing is a 720 ml clean water tank. The tank houses a water sterilization system. According to the manufacturer, the sterilization principle is based on the electrolysis of salt membranes. I can't evaluate the effectiveness of this solution, but it's worth mentioning.
The top of the body features a large, informative display that shows the battery charge, the selected operating mode, and service messages. Three operating modes are available: Smart Mode, in which the ROIDMI NEO automatically increases suction power when it detects dirt, Liquid Suction Mode without water, and Water Sterilization Mode.
Next to the display are buttons for voice alerts, self-cleaning, and water sterilization. This vacuum cleaner speaks Russian, but the translation is a bit off, albeit amusing.
The handle contains three mechanical control buttons: power on/off, switching operating modes, and forced water supply through the nozzle.
Speaking of the base, the ROIDMI NEO automatically charges, cleans itself, and dries with its roller. Drying occurs with room-temperature air. Unfortunately, there's no heating option. At least this will remove excess moisture, reducing the risk of odor and bacteria growth. The roller will dry naturally at room temperature.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of ROIDMI NEO, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Battery: Li-Ion, 3500 mAh.
- Power: 180 W.
- Working time: up to 35 min.
- Charging time: up to 4 hours.
- Noise level: up to 70 dB.
- Clean water tank: 720 ml.
- Dirty water tank: 690 ml.
- Weight: 4.5 kg.
The specifications are quite standard. It's worth noting that the noise level was measured personally and is between 68-72 dB, which is quite quiet compared to similar devices.
Functions in the application
I'd also like to highlight the app capabilities of the ROIDMI NEO. This cordless vacuum cleaner is controlled via the Mi Home app. You can enable the roller drying function or water sterilization when the vacuum is docked on the base. The main control panel also displays the selected operating mode and battery level. In the settings section, you can disable the roller drying function, reset settings, select the voice notification language and volume, view cleaning statistics, and consult the manufacturer's recommendations. There's nothing that enhances cleaning performance, just additional settings.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Roidmi Neo, including all tests, has been prepared and published on the channel:
And finally, let's move on to the tests. The ROIDMI NEO performs well in everyday floor cleaning, both on laminate and tile. It doesn't leave streaks and, when used correctly, won't damage delicate flooring.
This device can be used not only for cleaning floors but also for vacuuming liquids. And, as in my case, the vacuum even passed the now-traditional test of picking up a mixture of raw egg and flour. It took a while to suck up the eggshell, but it finally managed to suck it into the dirty water tank.
The ROIDMI NEO can also be used to clean slightly dried-on dirt from the floor. We can see that there are no marks or streaks left. The floor is perfectly clean. The only issue is that the roller doesn't extend all the way to the edge of the unit, leaving a very narrow strip of a few millimeters along the baseboard. Spraying it with water and then wiping the liquid off the floor can somewhat alleviate the problem. However, this isn't a solution. The engineers still have work to do.
This vacuum cleaner even removed tough, dried-on coffee and sauce stains. As with similar products, it took some time to remove the sauce stains—about 6 minutes in my case. I didn't use any detergent, as the manufacturer doesn't include one. Even with plain clean water, the ROIDMI NEO performed just as well as its competitors. It's very convenient that you can spray tough stains with water first, then let them soak for a bit while rinsing other areas. This makes them much easier to remove.
We're checking the self-cleaning function. The lid is clean, the roller is clean. There's minimal dirt underneath, but that's not the level of most similar models. So, I think this model's self-cleaning function is well-implemented.
ROIDMI NEO can also be used for dry cleaning. It easily picks up various types of debris from the floor. There's minimal blind spot in corners where the roller can't reach. However, it effectively picks up all debris along baseboards thanks to the roller positioned at the edge.
Even though the kit doesn't include a dedicated carpet roller, you can clean carpets with the fluffy roller. Just don't fill the tank with water or select the liquid suction mode to prevent water from reaching the roller.
But keep in mind that some debris may remain behind the roller, as suction is weaker without water due to the way this type of vacuum cleaner works. And here's a note about the roller: since the retainer is not removable, hair can get tangled inside, making it difficult to remove. The retainer may require a bit of force to remove, but I was afraid of breaking it, so I didn't overdo it.
And finally, the final test—we check the self-cleaning performance after all the tests. We drain the dirty water, fill the second tank with clean water, and turn on the self-cleaning function. The roller is practically clean, with a little debris remaining on the platform after self-cleaning, and there's no debris in the suction channel behind the roller. In a domestic environment, without such complex contaminants, the self-cleaning performance will be even better. In any case, it's no worse than similar devices, so there are no complaints about the self-cleaning function.
Personal opinion
The ROIDMI NEO upright vacuum cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll share my personal opinion on this device. I liked the following:
- Capable of removing dirt without leaving streaks or marks.
- Suitable not only for washing floors, but also for collecting liquids and dry cleaning.
- High-quality floor cleaning and removal of stains, even difficult ones.
- The roller comes out closer to the edge of the body (although it does not completely press against the baseboard, the non-washable zone has become narrower).
- Function of spraying liquid in front of the cleaning module.
- Automatic power increase when contamination is detected.
- Good self-cleaning quality.
- Automatic drying of the roller is provided at the station.
- Low noise level.
- Vertical parking is provided.
- Good equipment.
- Availability of warranty and service.
I didn't highlight app connectivity, water sterilization, or voice alerts as advantages, but you might want to keep these features in mind. Regarding disadvantages, the following were identified:
- Full drying of the roller with hot air is not provided.
- There's still a narrow, non-washable zone along the baseboard, though it's smaller than many similar products.
- Non-removable battery.
- It is difficult to clean the roller from hair in the retainer area, since it is not removable.
Overall, the device is interesting and left a largely positive impression. Moreover, the criticisms apply to most similar devices as well; they are typical for this type of device. If the water sterilization feature, which is a major focus, were somehow confirmed, it would have a unique advantage over similar devices, which would be important for certain buyers. Otherwise, the main things I liked were the repositioned roller, drying unit, and sprayer in front of the cleaning module. For those interested in the ROIDMI NEO, I don't see any serious issues that would deter them from purchasing it. Especially if the price were even lower.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
