Samsung SR8980

Samsung has developed a robot vacuum cleaner that differs from its predecessors in that it features a completely different charging station. This difference lies not only in its size but also in its functionality. Using this station, the Samsung SR8980 robot vacuum cleaner can empty its dust bin automatically. The dust container on the base is six times larger than the vacuum cleaner's dust bin. This means you can empty the bin much less frequently. A detailed review of the Samsung NaviBot-S SR8980 is provided in this article.

The complete package and design of the device are shown in the photo below:
Appearance
A quick overview reveals that the Samsung SR8980 has a standard round body made of black plastic. The front panel is made of transparent plastic, and its center houses a touchscreen display with control buttons and indicators that indicate the battery charge level and the current operating mode.
Above the buttons is a camera that allows the robot to survey the room. Below the touch buttons is a button for releasing the dust bin, which is located at the rear of the device. The front of the device is framed by a rubberized bumper, designed to protect the device itself and any decorative items in the event of an accidental collision. Additionally, the bumper contains various sensors that detect changes in height and recognize obstacles.
If you look at the robot from below, you'll see two main central wheels and one front roller, which controls the robot's rotation. Two side brushes are located on either side of the roller, and behind them is the battery compartment. You can also see the yellow main brush, and behind it, the bottom of the dust bin.
It's worth noting that the Samsung SR8980 robot vacuum cleaner is quite compact, measuring just 8 cm tall. This height allows it to easily clean under low furniture.

- Local. Cleaning a specific area of the surface.
- Maximum. It's somewhat similar to the device's automatic mode. The robot cleans the room until the battery is completely discharged.
Additionally, the Samsung SR8980 features a Turbo mode, which increases suction power and increases the speed of the central brush. The robot vacuum can also operate on a pre-programmed schedule, depending on the desired cleaning day.
The device comes with two virtual walls, which can be used to restrict the robot's movement and prevent it from entering areas it doesn't want cleaning. The Samsung NaviBot-S SR8980 navigates and navigates using a special Visionary Mapping System. Using 12 sensors and a camera, the robot determines the optimal route. To do this, it surveys the room, creates a floor plan, and memorizes it to clean more quickly next time.
Another feature of the Samsung SR8980 is a special optical sensor that detects dust on surfaces. This allows the robot vacuum to clean dirty areas more thoroughly. The central brush, 25% larger than previous models, allows for faster cleaning. Drive wheels allow the Samsung robot to overcome obstacles up to 1.5 cm high.
