Design
The Unit UVR-8000's appearance differs from most robotic cleaners on the market. It resembles a spacecraft more than a robot vacuum. The plastic body is ovoid-shaped with chamfered edges at the bottom, eliminating any sharp corners. A glossy, mirror-smooth finish adds additional charm. The side panel is made of matte black plastic, uncoated. The Unit robot vacuum cleaner is available in two basic colors: white and gold. Both models are shown in the following photos:
The top of the robot vacuum cleaner features a convex infrared receiver window surrounded by six LED indicators. Below is a touch-sensitive power button. The device uses the LEDs to indicate its current status.
The front of the body houses a spring-loaded bumper, obstacle sensors, and a charging base locator. On the other side is the exhaust grille, a button for opening the waste container compartment, and a connector for directly charging the battery.
The back of the device contains contact pads, a front swivel wheel, two side wheels, two side brushes, a central brush compartment, and infrared height sensors. If you want to wet mop the floor, attach a special mop attachment to the bottom of the robot vacuum cleaner, to which a cleaning cloth is attached using Velcro.

Functional capabilities
The Unit UVR-8000 robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with 4 different operating modes, an overview of which you can find here:
- AutoThe vacuum cleaner operates until the battery is almost completely discharged. The robot vacuum cleaner moves in a straight line between obstacles, randomly changing direction after collisions. The device then moves along walls, and after a short while, it returns to its original path, repeating in a circle. This mode is activated by a button on the robot's body or the "Auto" button on the remote control. It also starts automatically when launched from the docking station. When finished, the device automatically returns to the charging station.
- ManualIn this mode, the user controls the movement of the Unit UVR-8000 using the remote control.
- Mode intensive cleaning (Local). Used for thorough cleaning of a specific area of the room. You must move the device to the area yourself, then press the "Spot" button on the IR remote control.
- Clearing space along the walls and in the cornersThis mode is activated using the remote control by pressing the button with the curved arrow icon.
A fascinating feature of the Unit robot vacuum cleaner is its multifunctional charging station, which not only charges the battery but also houses control buttons. These buttons allow you to set the time, schedule a cleaning schedule, and activate automatic cleaning mode when the unit is fully charged. The base also features status indicators and an indicator light.
If you want to limit the cleaning area, you can use virtual wall, included in the basic set of Unit UVR-8000.
The robot vacuum cleaner has a 650-milliliter dust bin. This capacity is sufficient for 2-3 full cleanings without needing to empty it. It features a pleated filter covered with a large-mesh plastic mesh that traps even the largest dirt and dust particles.
In addition to dry cleaning, the robot also features a wet mopping function. For this purpose, the kit includes a mop and a microfiber cloth, which are attached to the bottom of the device.
