Comparing the Roborock E2, E3, and E4Comparing the Roborock E2, E3, and E4

You've probably already heard that a new one has recently appeared on the market. Roborock E4, which replaced the first two versions. We tested it recently, and special thanks to Lamobile for sending this robot for review. So, the robot replaces the Roborock E2 (the full model name). Xiaomi Xiaowa E202-00) and Roborock E3 (aka Xiaomi Xiaowa Roborock E352-00), released in 2018. Accordingly, the latest model costs $180 (the same price as the Lamobile), the E3 is around $190, and the E2 is around $170. We decided to figure out the differences between the robot vacuums in this line and which one is the best to choose. Below, we'll compare the specifications and features of the Roborock E2, E3, and E4. So, let's get started!

Appearance and design

First, let's compare the three robot vacuums visually. They are very similar: mechanical control buttons and a protruding IR sensor for locating the charging base are located on the top. The Roborock E2 and E3 have three mechanical control buttons on their bodies: Start/Pause, Forced Home, and Spot Cleaning. The Roborock E4 has two buttons on its body: Start/Pause and Home. Holding the latter button initiates Spot Cleaning mode.

If you turn robotic vacuum cleaners upside down, you'll see the main differences between robotic vacuum cleaners, namely:

  1. The Roborock E4 has a five-pointed silicone side cheek. The E2 and E3 have a three-pointed, hairy side cheek.
  2. The Roborock E4 has a removable central brush. The turbo brush of its two predecessors is fixed.

All three robots can perform wet cleaning using a bottom-mounted cleaning pad. This pad holds up to 180 ml of water for the Roborock E4 and up to 150 ml for the Roborock E2/E3. Furthermore, the Roborock E4 has a mechanical water level control, while the Roborock E3 and E2 do not.

These are the main design differences. As you can see, the new Roborock E4 features updated brushes and a nozzle, while the E2 and E3 are identical in appearance.

Comparing the specifications, we see that the main difference lies in the installed battery. The Roborock E3 and E4 lead in this regard.

In terms of functionality, all robots are controlled via a mobile app. You can adjust the suction power, set a cleaning schedule based on time and day of the week, and even control the robots manually.

However, the Roborock E4 also features a carpet mode, which automatically increases suction power when the robot vacuum cleaner enters a carpeted area.

No additional functionality is provided. Movement can be restricted by purchasing a magnetic strip separately. It is not included.

Let's sum it up

Comparing the Roborock E2, E3, and E4 robot vacuums, we see that they are very similar, but the most interesting of them all is the new Roborock E4. Considering the small price difference, we recommend choosing it, as its specifications and cleaning brushes are superior to those of similar models. Furthermore, the manufacturer has improved the navigation system by adding the Optic Eye optical sensor.

Roborock E2:

The Roborock E2 is likely to be of interest only because stores often offer significant discounts on this model, selling the robot for 20-30% less. In this case, it might be worth saving. The same is true for the Roborock E3—if the price is tempting, you might consider purchasing it.

Roborock E4:
