Deerma DEM-VX900W: a washing vacuum cleaner with TWO rollers and automatic water refilling

This review examines the Deerma DEM-VX900W upright wet/dry vacuum cleaner. This device has two key features: a cleaning module with two rollers extending out to the edges on either side, and an automatic water fill function that automatically fills the tank with clean water from a 5-liter reservoir on the base. Additionally, the vacuum boasts 16,000 Pa of suction power, a roller drying function on the base, and an automatic suction boost mode. This combination of features costs between $300 and $360 at the time of writing. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Deerma DEM-VX900W, highlight its pros and cons based on my testing results, and then express my opinion. Let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The delivery set is minimal and includes:
- The vacuum cleaner itself with the station.
- Power adapter.
- Vacuum cleaner cleaning tool.
- Operating instructions.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the design of the Deerma DEM-VX900W. Let's start with the cleaning module. It consists of two rollers that span the entire width of the unit, extending out to the edges on both sides.
Each roller has a removable top cap with a rubber splash guard. In my case, this splash guard was slightly deformed in the box.
The rollers themselves are of a familiar design. They are mounted on special holders. Behind these holders are detangling combs, as well as suction holes located behind both the front and rear rollers. This is a plus.
The tanks are located above the cleaning module. The clean water tank holds 480 ml and is automatically refilled at the station. The dirty water tank holds 850 ml.
A filtration system is installed inside, based on a HEPA filter with a mesh and a coarse filter, in which electronic water level control sensors are built in.
The wet/dry vacuum cleaner is controlled by buttons on the handle. There are three of them: one for power on/off, one for switching operating modes, and one for activating the self-cleaning function on the base.
There are three operating modes: automatic, energy-saving, and liquid collection mode. All information is displayed on an informative display. Furthermore, the Deerma DEM-VX900W features voice prompts in Russian.
Speaking of the base, the Deerma DEM-VX900W charges on it, self-cleans the rollers with clean water, automatically fills the water from the reservoir into the vacuum cleaner tank, and dries the rollers after self-cleaning.
Drying is accomplished with warm air. The tray is conveniently removable and can be rinsed with water if needed. The water tank is also removable.
There's even a water disinfection feature in the tank. Apparently, some kind of ultraviolet lamp is installed. I can't verify the effectiveness of this solution, but it's worth mentioning.
All the pros and cons of the vacuum cleaner's design will be discussed in the final review. Let's move on!
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Deerma DEM-VX900W, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Power: 230 W.
- Battery: Li-Ion 4000 mAh.
- Suction power: up to 16,000 Pa.
- Working time: up to 40 min.
- Noise level: 74-75.3 dB.
- Clean water tank in the vacuum cleaner: 480 ml.
- Clean water tank in the base: 5 l.
- Dirty water tank: 850 ml.
The manufacturer doesn't specify battery capacity. I personally tested the noise level, and it's in line with similar devices.
Testing
Let's move on to the tests. A detailed video review of the Deerma DEM-VX900W, including all the tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
The Deerma DEM-VX900W handles everyday floor cleaning with confidence—streak-free, on both laminate and tile. When used correctly, it won't damage delicate surfaces.
This vacuum cleaner can also be used to vacuum up liquids. In my case, it handled traditional dough without a problem—a mixture of raw egg and flour was completely removed.
The Deerma DEM-VX900W also handles lightly dried dirt well. Floors are left clean, without any marks or streaks.
The wet/dry vacuum cleaner I tested even tackled dried-on coffee and sauce stains. Yes, it took about six minutes to completely remove the sauce, but that's to be expected. I used only plain water—the manufacturer doesn't include any cleaning solution. Still, despite this, the device performed faster than many other cordless models I've tested previously.
Speaking about the blind zone between the edge of the roller and the baseboard, it is minimal, no more than 5 mm, due to the lock located on the side.
This wet/dry vacuum also handles dry cleaning, easily picking up various types of debris. Yes, there's a small blind spot in the corners, but almost all the debris was removed from the stand—that's good.
The model isn't particularly practical for cleaning carpets, although it's theoretically possible. If you don't add water to the tank or use the wet mode, you can use a vacuum cleaner to pick up dry debris. The roller, although fluffy, is capable of picking up pet hair, hair, and debris from low-pile carpets. However, the Deerma DEM-VX900W proved ineffective on fluffier carpets—the roller clogs and the brush gets stuck.
Ultimately, it's best to clean carpets with a regular upright vacuum cleaner or a robotic vacuum cleaner designed for this type of task.
Finally, let's test the self-cleaning performance. Here's how the vacuum cleaner self-cleans the rollers after a tough stain test. It's not perfect, but it's no less or worse than similar products. In everyday use, the rollers perform much better. I'll note that self-cleaning takes a full 7.5 minutes. Much longer than most other models. However, I wouldn't say the self-cleaning performance is any better.
As for drying the rollers, it's done with warm air. But there's a catch here too. As far as I understand, the air is directed at the front roller, which dries well. However, the rear roller still remains a little damp after self-cleaning. So, the drying isn't perfect.
Personal opinion
The Deerma DEM-VX900W upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my personal opinion. I liked the following:
- Cleaning module based on two rollers.
- The vacuum cleaner is capable of removing difficult stains faster than its analogues.
- The rollers extend closer to the edge of the body on both sides to clean the floor closer to baseboards and furniture.
- Capacious battery and correspondingly long operating time.
- Automatic power increase mode.
- Automatic refilling of the clean water tank.
- Large capacity tank for dirty water.
- Built-in voice assistant.
And it's worth mentioning again the water disinfection feature, which many may consider a plus. Since I can't verify its effectiveness, I haven't added it as a plus.
Speaking about the disadvantages, I had the following comments about the vacuum cleaner:
- The roller drying system needs some work. The rear roller doesn't dry completely.
- The rubber splash guards on the lid may become deformed.
- Extended self-cleaning time at the base. Moreover, this self-cleaning efficiency is on par with similar devices, which self-clean in no more than 2 minutes.
- Non-removable battery.
- There's still a small blind spot between the roller's edge and the baseboard. It's minimal, but it's there.
- There is no way to regulate the water supply level and set the maximum power, which is activated automatically.
- The vacuum cleaner is not suitable for cleaning carpets.
Ultimately, I can say that this wet/dry vacuum cleaner is still interesting, as its maintenance is slightly simplified by the automatic refill system. The cleaning module is effective, but, like other wet/dry vacuum cleaners, it's not perfect. The first three comments are still individual. The rest are typical for most wet/dry vacuum cleaners.
So, if the comments aren't critical for you, and the advantages intrigue you, I see no reason not to choose this wet/dry vacuum cleaner. It does its primary job well. On that note, I'd like to conclude this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
