Deerma DEM-T50W Station: a fully equipped upright vacuum cleaner with self-cleaning

The Deerma DEM-T50W Station self-cleaning upright vacuum cleaner is a new product for 2024. At the time of writing, its price is between $350 and $500. For this price, the vacuum cleaner is equipped with a self-cleaning station, a full set of attachments, and a powerful motor generating suction up to 27,000 Pa. Below, I'll thoroughly test the device, highlight its pros and cons, and then share my opinion. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Self-cleaning station.
- The main unit of the vacuum cleaner.
- Extension tube.
- Carpet roller attachment.
- Roller attachment for hard surfaces.
- Nozzle for cleaning upholstered furniture and mattresses.
- Wall holder with fasteners.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Soft bristle attachment.
- Attachment with sliding bristles.
- Attachment for combing animals.
- Flexible connecting hose.
- Operating instructions.
- Two spare HEPA filters.
The package is well-equipped! All the necessary accessories and spare parts are included. That's a plus!
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the design of the Deerma DEM-T50W Station. Let's start with the vacuum cleaner itself, specifically its main unit. It's finished in a combination of graphite and red. Inside, a 590-watt motor delivers up to 27 kPa of suction power.
The battery is removable, which is a plus.
A display with two control buttons is located on the end: power on/off and mode selection. There are three modes: energy-saving, standard, and high. The cover around the display can be removed to access the blow-out HEPA filter.
The dust container is very easy to empty. Simply pull the latch, and the bottom of the container opens, clearing away any debris stuck to the mesh filter.
If necessary, the flask can be completely removed for cleaning. A fabric pre-motor filter is installed inside the cyclone. It can be washed with water. However, the cyclone itself and its mesh are not removable, which is inconvenient. I'm used to cleaning this component with water by removing it completely, as is the case with most similar devices.
Let's take a look at the included attachments. The main floor nozzle with a carpet roller features a light and a switch that raises the front curtains. It's recommended to raise them when picking up large debris and cleaning carpets. The roller itself is standard and can be removed without tools. I liked the comb located behind the roller for detangling hair and fur.
The second floor nozzle features a fluffy roller, suitable for cleaning hard floors. A side light illuminates the cleaning area, which is a plus. The roller is easily removed without tools. The design is familiar. Behind this roller, we also see a comb, which is a plus.
The upholstery cleaning attachment has an interesting design. The roller is slightly shortened, presumably to help remove tangled hair. This attachment also disassembles easily without tools. The roller's blades are silicone, making it easier to remove debris without tangling.
The crevice tool is a familiar design, as is the soft bristle tool. There's also a special tool with retractable bristles. I think it could also be useful around the home. The corrugated hose is convenient for getting into hard-to-reach places with the attached tool, rather than the entire vacuum cleaner. The highlight of the Deerma DEM-T50W Station is its special attachment for brushing pets. It's essentially a comb with a suction port and a hair remover. It's a very convenient solution, and I'll show you how to use it in my tests.
Speaking of the station, it's also available in graphite. It has a matte finish, making it less easily soiled than the previously reviewed Deerma DEM-T30W Station. The design itself is identical. Self-cleaning is activated manually by pressing a button on the top. A 1.8-liter bag is hidden behind the lid. It's a standard design. A fabric filter is installed underneath the bag, but what I liked is the HEPA filter installed underneath the station. Allergy sufferers will appreciate this feature!
So far, I can say that the vacuum cleaner has both strengths and weaknesses in terms of design. All of these will be discussed in the final review.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Deerma DEM-T50W Station, as stated by the manufacturer:
- The power consumption of the vacuum cleaner is 590 W.
- Suction power up to 27 kPa.
- The station's power consumption is 1000 W.
- Li-Ion battery 2500 mAh.
- Bag in the station: 1.8 l.
- Operating time up to 90 min.
- The noise level of the vacuum cleaner is 71-74.5 dB.
- The station noise level is 77-79 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 3.17 – 3.27 kg.
I'd like to point out that I personally tested the noise levels of both the vacuum cleaner and the station. The vacuum cleaner's noise level is between 71 and 74.5 dB, which is quite standard. The station's noise level during self-cleaning is between 77 and 79 dB, making it slightly quieter than the T30 model.
Regarding the vacuum cleaner's weight, the main unit weighs 2,188 grams, the extension tube weighs 245 grams, the main floor nozzle with carpet roller weighs 836 grams, and the main nozzle with fluff roller weighs 738 grams. The complete vacuum weighs 3,171–3,269 grams. It's slightly heavier than most similar vacuum cleaners, which is important to consider.
Testing
A detailed video review with all tests has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the battery life of the Deerma DEM-T50W Station in Turbo mode with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed to run for 14 minutes and 25 seconds, which is a good result. Most similar devices only last 10-12 minutes at maximum power.
Suction power
Regarding power, it's best to test it with a carpet roller, as high power is essential on carpets. At minimum power, the Deerma DEM-T50W Station was only able to clean a 15 mm gap. At medium power, the result was similar. At maximum power, the vacuum cleaner was able to completely clean 15 and 20 mm deep gaps, half-clean 25 mm deep gaps, and partially clean 30-35 mm deep gaps. I can say that the vacuum cleaner has increased power and is sufficient for household cleaning.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the Deerma DEM-T50W Station picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. This machine performed well. It's important to note that it has no trouble picking up debris along baseboards and in corners. It picks everything up thoroughly. No hair or lint gets caught in the roller. Test passed!
Carpet cleaning
The same debris was scattered on the carpet, and the vacuum cleaner performed equally well, thoroughly cleaning both low- and medium-pile carpeting. This time, the carpet roller attachment was used.
Additional attachments
Using the included attachments, you can clean sofa upholstery, mattresses, shelves, and other furniture, as well as interior items and even car interiors. Fortunately, the range of attachments makes this possible.
And here's how the pet brush attachment performed. You can see how the hair collects on the brush. Then, you press the button on the back, and all the hair is removed, immediately landing in the suction hole. A great solution and very convenient for pet owners!
Self-cleaning
Finally, I'll show you how the station's self-cleaning dust bin function works. Place the vacuum cleaner in its slot and press the self-cleaning button. The dust is removed from the bin and placed into the station's bag. The bin is completely clean after self-cleaning; I've checked it several times.
Moreover, even if the dust bin is completely clogged with hair, the station can clean it thoroughly. This is what differentiates it from the station found on the T30 model. According to the manufacturer, the new station is three times more powerful.
Also, if necessary, you can manually remove the flask and shake out the debris from it, very convenient.
Personal opinion
The Deerma DEM-T50W Station cordless self-cleaning vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight the pros and cons I discovered, and then express my own opinion. I liked the following:
- The station has a self-cleaning function. And the station does its job effectively.
- High-quality filtration system for vacuum cleaner and station.
- Increased suction power.
- Long operating time in Turbo mode.
- High-quality waste collection on any surface.
- Convenient dust container emptying system.
- Removable dust collector.
- Removable battery.
- Illumination of the cleaning area in two floor nozzles.
- The kit includes additional attachments and consumables.
- The attachment for combing animals deserves special attention.
- Availability of warranty and service.
Speaking of comments, here are some that were discovered during testing:
- Non-removable cyclone with mesh in the dust collector.
- The weight is slightly heavier than similar products.
- There is no vertical parking outside the station.
- There is no storage space for the included attachments at the station.
Overall, the vacuum cleaner is quite interesting, especially for $350. It's convenient, effective, and versatile. What more could you want? If these comments aren't critical to you, I see no reason not to recommend it!
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
