REMEZ IQSelf+: a dual-roller upright vacuum cleaner with SMART modes

REMEZ IQSelf+REMEZ IQSelf+

The REMEZ IQSelf+ is a new upright vacuum cleaner from a Russian engineering project. Model number RMVC-603. Its key feature is a cleaning module with two rollers positioned at the edge, rotating in opposite directions for more effective dirt removal. Additionally, the vacuum cleaner boasts automatic roller drying at the station, a water disinfection function, and an automatic suction power adjustment mode, which, by the way, reaches 20,000 Pa. Below, I'll thoroughly test the REMEZ IQSelf+, highlight its pros and cons based on the test results, and then express my opinion on whether this cordless vacuum cleaner is worth buying. The price at the time of writing is $4.70, placing it in the premium segment. So, let's get started!

Equipment

The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:

Appearance

Now let's look at the design of the REMEZ IQSelf+. Let's start with the cleaning module. It consists of two soft-bristled rollers, offset to the right, toward the edge of the housing. The rollers don't extend all the way to the edge; locking devices are also located behind it. However, the width of the so-called blind zone has been reduced. According to the manufacturer, it is no more than 5 mm, which will be verified in tests.

The rollers' top covers are removable. The rollers themselves are standard. Interestingly, behind the front roller is a squeegee for collecting liquid residue from the floor, and behind the rear roller is a comb for detangling tangled hair and fur.

It's worth noting that the rollers rotate at different speeds and in opposite directions. This design allows for effective pickup in both directions, a feature unavailable in single-roller vacuum cleaners, as well as dual-roller vacuum cleaners with rollers that rotate in the same direction. Furthermore, excellent ergonomics have been achieved. The vacuum's weight is practically unnoticeable in your hand. It glides across the surface, and you simply guide it in the desired direction.

A 600 ml waste water tank is located above the cleaning module. It contains a HEPA filter with a mesh screen and a coarse filter for liquid cleaning. The water level in the tank is measured by electronic sensors.

The tank holds 800 ml of clean water. Electrodes are installed inside, which disinfect the water using electrolysis.

The handle houses a button to initiate the self-cleaning function on the base, as well as a display with an on/off button. The display shows the battery percentage, power level, and service messages.

Control buttons

On the back there is a button for switching between operating modes. There are three of them:

  • Smart Mode is a smart mode that automatically adjusts the suction power depending on the degree of dirtiness of the floor.
  • Smart Disinfecting Mode is the same, but in addition, the water is disinfected using electrolysis before starting.
  • And Delicate Mode—a correspondingly gentle mode that increases suction power to maximum while releasing a small amount of water to the front roller. This mode is suitable for delicate wood surfaces, preventing damage from excessive water supply.

I'll note that the vacuum cleaner doesn't have a dry cleaning mode, and that's actually a good decision. The filtration system of most cordless wet vacuum cleaners on the market isn't designed for dry cleaning, and all the debris simply sticks to the HEPA filter, clogging it. So, this is largely a marketing ploy. REMEZ engineers have completely abandoned dry cleaning. If you turn the vacuum cleaner on without water, it runs for a few seconds, then stops and displays an error message, indicating that the tank needs to be refilled with water.

It's also worth noting that the REMEZ IQSelf+ supports voice notifications in Russian. These can be disabled if desired.

As for the station, the REMEZ IQSelf+ charges, self-cleans, and dries the rollers with warm air after self-cleaning. Drying is effective. The rollers are completely dry in an hour and a half. Interestingly, the rollers automatically rotate during drying to thoroughly dry the entire roller surface.

Station

The so-called hair trimmer on the base deserves special attention. Along the roller are blades that need to be manually moved from side to side to cut away tangled hair and fur from the front roller. This is a very interesting solution, something I haven't seen before in wet/dry vacuum cleaners.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of REMEZ IQSelf+, as declared by the manufacturer:

  • Battery: Li-Ion, 3700 mAh.
  • Power: 230 W.
  • Suction power: up to 20,000 Pa.
  • Working time: up to 40 min.
  • Charging time: up to 4.5 hours.
  • Noise level: 73.5-74.5 dB.
  • Clean water tank: 800 ml.
  • Dirty water tank: 600 ml.
  • Weight: 5.3 kg.

This model boasts improved specifications. It features a higher-capacity battery, extended runtime, and higher power than most similar models. Incidentally, the battery is from BYD, the same manufacturer Tesla uses. It's worth noting that the noise level, measured personally, is between 73.5 and 74.5 dB, which is in line with similar models.

Testing

And finally, let's move on to the tests. A detailed video review with all the tests is published on the channel:

REMEZ IQSelf+ performs well for everyday floor cleaning, both on laminate and tile. It doesn't leave streaks and, when used correctly, won't damage delicate flooring.

This device can be used not only for cleaning floors but also for vacuuming liquids. And, as in my case, the vacuum even passed the now-traditional test of picking up a mixture of raw egg and flour. It picked up the eggshells on the first try, unlike most similar devices.

REMEZ IQSelf+ can also be used to clean slightly dried-on dirt from floors. As you can see, there are no marks or streaks left. The floor is perfectly clean.

The only caveat is that the roller doesn't extend all the way to the edge of the cabinet, leaving a very narrow, unwashed strip along the baseboard. To be precise, it's 5 millimeters wide. Most similar products have a width of 15-20 mm.

Blind spot

This vacuum cleaner was able to remove even the toughest dried-on coffee and sauce stains. As with similar vacuum cleaners, it took some time to remove the sauce stains. In my case, it took about 5 minutes to remove all the main stains. I didn't use any detergent, as the manufacturer doesn't include one. Even with plain clean water, the REMEZ IQSelf+ performed faster than many cordless wet/dry vacuum cleaners I've tested.

The device can also be used to collect waste of various structures, including from low-pile carpets.

But I wouldn't recommend using it for that purpose. It's a wet/dry vacuum cleaner, after all, and it's designed for cleaning floors.

Finally, let's test the self-cleaning function. Here's how the REMEZ IQSelf+ self-cleans rollers after a tough stain test. It's not perfect, but it's no worse than similar products. Note that self-cleaning is performed in intelligent mode and lasts 1.5 minutes, longer than most other models.

After the rest of the dirty tests, the roller is almost clean, but some dirt remains behind the rollers.

Under normal household conditions, with simple dirt, the vacuum cleaner cleans itself well and does not require manual intervention.

Personal opinion

The REMEZ IQSelf+ upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll share my personal opinion on this device. Here's what I liked:

  1. High-quality floor cleaning and removal of stains, even difficult ones.
  2. The rollers come out closer to the edge of the body (although they do not press completely against the baseboard, the non-washable zone has become narrower).
  3. High suction power.
  4. Suitable not only for washing floors, but also for collecting liquids.
  5. The weight is practically unnoticeable in your hand thanks to the two rollers sliding in different directions.
  6. High-capacity battery, and therefore long operating time.
  7. Automatic power increase when contamination is detected.
  8. Disinfection of clean water in a tank.
  9. Automatic roller drying with warm air.
  10. The base is equipped with a manual hair cutter.
  11. Availability of warranty and service.

Speaking about the disadvantages, I would like to highlight the following:

  1. There's still a narrow, non-washable zone along the baseboard, though it's smaller than many similar products.
  2. There is no way to regulate the water supply level.
  3. Non-removable battery. Please note that the battery is difficult to remove, and the manufacturer recommends replacing it at a service center.

Ultimately, I can say that the REMEZ IQSelf+ is a truly interesting upright vacuum cleaner. It performs its primary function well, is comfortable to hold, and is equipped with advanced features. It's definitely worth considering and highly recommended.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
