Gadget R100: A slim, square-shaped window cleaning robot

The Dadget R100 window cleaning robot differs from previously reviewed Dadget window cleaning robots. The device features a square body, which is supposed to better clean dirt in corners and along window frames. However, the price is similar to its predecessors, starting at $80. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Dadget R100, highlight its pros and cons, and then share my opinion. Let's get started!
Equipment
The robot arrived in this branded box:
The package includes:
- Power supply with 4-meter cord.
- Cable for connecting the power supply to the network.
- Remote control with batteries.
- 3 spare napkins.
- Bottle for filling water into the robot.
- Operating instructions in Russian.
In general, there is everything needed to operate the robot.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the design of the Gadget R100. Its body is square and its color is burgundy. Its height is only 7 cm, making it suitable for use on windows with bars.
The safety cable and power cable are attached to the robot. A convenient handle is located on top for gripping the body when installing and removing it from a window. The power on/off button is located on the handle. The robot's status indicators are located nearby. The texture of the body itself is very pleasant both visually and tactilely.
Edge sensors are located in the corners. The screen is cut off in these areas, so even the square shape clearly doesn't solve the problem of blind spots in the corners.
The reverse side also features duplicate status indicators. The Gadget R100 moves on tracks. The center contains ventilation holes for the main motor, which provides suction to the surface. The cleaning cloth is attached to the base with Velcro. It is a standard design.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Dadget R100, as declared by the manufacturer:
- Backup battery: Li-Ion, 500 mAh.
- Power consumption: 72 W.
- Battery life: up to 15 min.
- Dimensions: 216*70 mm.
- Glass cleaning speed: 1 sq.m./3.5 min.
- Maximum size of one glass: height 4 m, width 4 m.
- Minimum size of one glass: height 40 cm, width 60 cm.
- Noise level: up to 73.5 dB.
I measured the noise level myself. If the robot is indoors, the noise level is around 73-73.5 dB. However, if it's installed outside and the window is closed, the noise level will depend on the soundproofing of the windows. In my case, it was 67-67.5 dB. This is a fairly standard result.
Functions
The R100 Gadget is controlled using the included remote control. It features buttons for left-hand wash, right-hand wash, manual robot control, start/pause, and three automatic modes: a double pass (first in an N-pattern, then in a Z-pattern), as well as separate Z-pattern and N-pattern window cleaning modes.
Testing
A detailed video review with all tests has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Navigation and window cleaning quality
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check how the R100 gadget performs at its primary task – cleaning windows from the outside. We'll also be able to evaluate its navigation. The robot's first pass over the windows collects all the dirt. It's recommended not to wet the cloth to reduce the risk of smearing dirt across the glass.
On the second pass, you can spray a little water or cleaning agent onto the cloth.
Let's compare the condition of the windows before and after:
I'll note here that, in my opinion, robots with round cleaning pads are better at removing dirt thanks to their rotating platforms. Another weakness of all window cleaning robots, including this one, is that corners remain unwashed due to the edge detection sensors located in the corners. Finally, you need to get the hang of stretching the pads right along the edges of the body, otherwise the robot may leave unwashed areas along the window frames if the pad doesn't extend to the edge.
Overall, the window cleaning quality is on par with its square counterparts, but still slightly inferior to robots with round cloths.
I'll add that the Gadget R100 also navigates narrow windows without any problems! There are no complaints about the navigation!
Application on other surfaces
This robot can also be used to clean tiled walls, shower stalls, and mirrors. It's even worth noting that the Gadget R100 can gently roll away from the edges of frameless surfaces without losing traction. This is a plus! However, the manufacturer does not recommend using this model on frameless surfaces.
But for those interested, this window cleaning robot can't function properly on horizontal surfaces. Its movement algorithm is flawed.
Emergency mode
Let me explain how the Gadget R100 operates in emergency mode. When unplugged, the robot starts beeping, the button on the handle flashes, and the red indicator on the back of the robot also flashes. Here's how it works:
A light indicator and a beeping sound will allow you to promptly detect the problem and remove the robot from the window.
Let's sum it up
The Dadget R100 window cleaning robot was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll summarize and share my personal opinion of the robot after using it. Here's what I liked:
- Good navigation.
- Suitable for narrow windows.
- The small height of the body allows the robot to be used on windows with bars.
- The robot's versatility. It's suitable for cleaning not only windows, but also glass doors, mirrors, and wall tiles.
- Stylish design.
- Affordable price.
- Warranty and service availability. It's worth noting that Dadget window cleaning robots come with a full 3-year warranty!
As for the shortcomings, the following were found:
- It doesn't wash into the corners.
- Does not work on horizontal surfaces.
- The quality of dirt removal is inferior to that of robotic window cleaners with round cloths.
Overall, the first criticism is typical of all robotic window cleaners. The rest are specific to this model. In any case, considering the price, which starts at $80 and the availability of full warranty support, the device is well worth considering. It will handle cleaning windows after winter and keeping them clean all year round.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
