Gadget R200Gadget R200

The window cleaning robot Dadget R200 is an improved version of the previously reviewed one. Gadget R100The device has a new gray color scheme, but more importantly, it now features a spray function. This improves window cleaning performance, especially for larger windows. Meanwhile, the price is on par with its predecessors, starting at $90. So, below, I'll test the Gadget R200 in detail, highlight its pros and cons, and then share my opinion. So, let's get started!

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the design of the Gadget R200. It's square in shape and gray in color. Its height is only 7 cm, making it suitable for use on windows with bars.

The safety cable and power cable are attached to the robot. A convenient handle is located on top for gripping the body when installing and removing it from a window. The power on/off button is located on the handle. The robot's status indicators are located nearby. The texture of the body itself is very pleasant both visually and tactilely.

The front features two liquid sprayers, each facing in different directions. Next to the sprayers is a hole with a sealed valve for filling the robot with liquid. The tank holds 50 ml.

Edge sensors are located in the corners. The screen is cut off in these areas, so even the square shape clearly doesn't solve the problem of blind spots in the corners.

The Gadget R200 moves on tracks. The main motor's ventilation holes are located in the center, which is what powers the suction. Status indicators are also located on the back. The cloth is attached to the base with Velcro. It's a standard design.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of the Gadget R200, as stated by the manufacturer, are displayed on the screen:

  • Backup battery: Li-Ion, 500 mAh.
  • Power consumption: 72 W.
  • Battery life: up to 15 min.
  • Dimensions: 216*70 mm.
  • Water tank: 50 ml.
  • Glass cleaning speed: 1 sq.m./3.5 min.
  • Maximum size of one glass: height 4 m, width 4 m.
  • Minimum size of one glass: height 40 cm, width 60 cm.
  • Noise level: up to 73 dB.

I measured the noise level myself. If the robot is indoors, the noise level is around 72.5-73 dB. However, if it's installed outside and the window is closed, the noise level will depend on the soundproofing of the windows. In my case, it was around 58 dB. This is a fairly standard result.

The Gadget R200 is controlled using the included remote control. It features buttons for left-hand wash, right-hand wash, manual robot control, start/pause, automatic liquid feed, manual spray, and three automatic modes: a double pass (first in an N-pattern, then in a Z-pattern), and separate Z-pattern and N-pattern window cleaning modes.

Testing

A detailed video review with all tests has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Navigation and window cleaning quality

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check how the Gadget R200 performs at its primary task – cleaning windows from the outside. We'll also be able to evaluate its navigation. The robot's first pass over the windows collects all the dirt. It's recommended not to wet the cloth and turn off the water supply to reduce the amount of dirt smeared across the glass.

For the second pass, you can spray a little water or cleaning agent onto the cloth and turn on the automatic liquid spray.

Let's compare the condition of the windows before and after:

Window cleaning quality

I'll note here that, in my opinion, robots with round cleaning pads are better at removing dirt thanks to their rotating platforms. Another weakness of all window cleaning robots, including this one, is that corners remain unwashed due to the edge detection sensors located in the corners. Finally, you need to get the hang of stretching the pads right along the edges of the body, otherwise the robot may leave unwashed areas along the window frames if the pad doesn't extend to the edge.

Blind spot

Overall, the window cleaning quality is on par with its square counterparts, but still slightly inferior to robots with round cloths.

I'll add that the Gadget R200 also navigates narrow windows without any problems! There are no complaints about the navigation!

Application on other surfaces

This robot can also be used to clean tiled walls, shower stalls, and mirrors. It's even worth noting that the Dadget R200 can gently roll away from the edges of frameless surfaces without losing traction. That's a plus!

Although the manufacturer does not recommend using this model on frameless surfaces

But for those interested, this window cleaning robot can't function properly on horizontal surfaces. Its movement algorithm is flawed.

Emergency mode

Let me explain how the Dadget R200 operates in emergency mode. When disconnected from the power supply, the robot starts beeping and the button on the handle flashes, as does the red indicator on the back of the robot.

A light indicator and a beeping sound will allow you to promptly detect the problem and remove the robot from the window.

Let's sum it up

The Dadget R200 window cleaning robot was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll summarize and share my personal opinion of the robot after using it. Here's what I liked:

  1. Automatic spraying of cleaning liquid.
  2. Good navigation.
  3. Suitable for narrow windows.
  4. The small height of the body allows the robot to be used on windows with bars.
  5. The robot's versatility. It's suitable for cleaning not only windows, but also glass doors, mirrors, and wall tiles.
  6. Stylish design.
  7. Affordable price.
  8. Warranty and service availability. It's worth noting that Dadget window cleaning robots come with a full 3-year warranty!

As for the shortcomings, the following were found:

  1. It doesn't wash into the corners.
  2. Does not work on horizontal surfaces.
  3. The quality of dirt removal is inferior to that of robotic window cleaners with round cloths.

Overall, the first criticism is typical of all robotic window cleaners. The rest are specific to this model. In any case, considering the price, which starts at $90 and includes sprayers and full warranty support, the device is well worth considering. It will handle cleaning windows after winter and keeping them clean all year round.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
