Deerma VX100 Ultra: 20,000 Pa, 180° tilt, heated wash and dry

The Deerma VX100 Ultra upright wet/dry vacuum cleaner, priced at $199.90 at the time of writing, boasts 20,000 Pa of suction power, a 180-degree tilt angle, a roller positioned at the edge of the body, and even a comb for detangling hair and fur. It also features a hot water roller rinse and hot air drying. It seems like a top-of-the-line package at an affordable price. So, below, I'll thoroughly test the Deerma VX100 Ultra, highlight its pros and cons based on my test results, and then share my personal opinion. Let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
In addition to the vacuum cleaner itself and the base, the package includes a spare roller, two spare sponge filters, a cleaning tool, a quick start guide, and instructions in Russian.
Appearance
Let's take a look at how the Deerma VX100 Ultra works. It's designed in a familiar way: clean water is supplied to the roller as it rotates, after which the waste water is collected by scrapers and sucked into the dirty water tank.
The roller extends to the edge of the body on one side, which allows for better cleaning of the area along walls and furniture.
The top cover is removable. The roller is held in place by a side latch. Its structure is familiar – made of soft bristles.
Behind the roller there is a comb for untangling tangled hair and fur, as well as scraping debris from the surface of the roller, a rubber scraper for collecting residual liquid from the floor and a suction hole.
A 550 ml dirty water tank is located above the cleaning module at the rear. The filtration system consists of a foam filter and a coarse liquid filter. There is no HEPA filter. The liquid level is monitored by electronic sensors.
A 650 ml clean water tank is installed above. Its lid also houses a coarse filter for filtering liquid.
The wet/dry vacuum cleaner is controlled by buttons on the handle. There are three of them: power on/off, switching between operating modes, and activating the self-cleaning function on the base. There are three operating modes: standard, energy-saving, and liquid suction. Holding the self-cleaning button on the base also activates the quick-drying mode for the roller.
All information is displayed on the screen. Instead of a percentage, the battery charge is shown in units, which is not very convenient.
It's worth noting that the Deerma VX100 Ultra features voice prompts in Russian. This wet/dry vacuum also folds 180 degrees for cleaning under furniture. When laid flat, the vacuum's height is no more than 17 cm at its highest point.
The station charges the vacuum, self-cleans, and dries the roller. A metal plate built into the bottom of the station heats up the water used to rinse the roller and also dries it. It claims to heat the water to 70 degrees Celsius and dry the roller at 100 degrees Celsius.
The pros and cons of this design will be discussed during the final review. Let's move on!
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Deerma VX100 Ultra, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Battery: Li-Ion, 4000 mAh
- Power consumption: 300 W
- Suction power: up to 20,000 Pa
- Working time: up to 50 min
- Clean water tank: 550 ml
- Dirty water tank: 650 ml
- Noise level: 72-75 dB
The increased battery capacity and increased suction power stand out here. The noise level, which I personally tested, is in the 72-75 dB range, which is in line with similar devices.
Testing
A detailed video review with all tests has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Let's move on to the tests. The Deerma VX100 Ultra performs well in everyday floor cleaning, both on laminate and tile. It doesn't leave streaks and, when used correctly, won't damage delicate flooring.
This device can be used not only for cleaning floors but also for vacuuming liquids. And, as in my case, the vacuum even passed the now-traditional test of picking up a mixture of raw egg and flour.
The device can also be used to clean floors. We can see that there are no marks or streaks left. The floor is perfectly clean.
Moreover, thanks to the roller extending to the edge of the device, it can clean dirt closer to baseboards and furniture. In reality, the blind zone is about 5 mm, while most similar devices have a blind zone of about 15-20 mm. Still, the company's engineers still have room for improvement.
This wet/dry vacuum cleaner was able to remove tough, dried-on coffee and sauce stains. As with similar products, it took some time to remove the sauce stains. In my case, it took 5 minutes to remove all the major stains. This is a good result. Many similar products take 8 to 10 minutes to complete the task. Note that I used only water, as cleaning solution is not included.
The wet/dry vacuum cleaner can also be used for dust collection. It easily picks up debris of various textures from the floor. It takes a few tries to pick up larger particles, but it does manage to do so. Almost all the debris is collected from the stand. There's a minimal blind spot in the corner, but it's actually negligible.
Since this is a wet/dry vacuum cleaner, using it for carpet cleaning isn't entirely practical. However, it's possible if you don't add water to the tank or select the liquid mode—that is, simply vacuuming debris without adding water. Despite its fluffy texture, the roller handles pet hair and other debris on low-pile carpet.
The Deerma VX100 Ultra isn't suitable for use on fluffy carpets due to the structure of its roller. While it can still pick up debris on the surface, it doesn't dislodge it from the pile like traditional upright dry vacuums, as demonstrated by our testing.
Another caveat: debris can clog the filtration system and suction channel. Without water, the suction system doesn't work properly, and the vacuum cleaner is designed specifically for cleaning floors.
I also tested the comb's ability to detangle hair from a roller. It actually succeeded, passing the test successfully!
After all the tests, the self-cleaning performance of the washing vacuum cleaner was checked. After scrubbing away stubborn stains and running the self-cleaning function, the roller was very clean. The area behind the roller was also clean.
After washing the floor under normal household conditions and running the self-cleaning function on the base, everything is clean again. This machine's self-cleaning function is well-implemented. And I'd like to point out that during self-cleaning, the roller rotates in different directions alternately, which improves the cleaning quality.
Finally, I checked the water temperature during the rinse cycle. The sensor showed above 39 degrees Celsius when rinsing the roller. The plate itself, meanwhile, heated up to over 54 degrees Celsius.
During drying, the sensor read over 53 degrees Celsius. And even that's a good result. After the drying cycle, the roller was completely dry.
Taking into account all the measurement errors, I can confirm that both water heating and roller drying at a high temperature are provided.
Personal opinion
The Deerma VX100 Ultra upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight the pros and cons I discovered, and then share my personal opinion. I liked the following:
- The vacuum cleaner is capable of removing difficult stains faster than its analogues.
- The roller extends closer to the edge of the body to clean the floor closer to baseboards and furniture.
- The 180 degree tilt angle allows you to clean under furniture.
- High-quality self-cleaning of the roller with hot water and alternating change of direction of rotation.
- Effective drying of the roller at high temperature on the base.
- The roller is protected from getting tangled by hair thanks to a comb.
- High suction power, judging by the stated characteristics.
- High-quality waste collection on hard surfaces and low-pile carpets.
- Built-in voice assistant.
- Availability of warranty and service.
- Optimal price considering the possibilities.
Among the disadvantages I would highlight:
- There is still a blind zone between the edge of the roller and the baseboard, although it is smaller than with many similar products.
- Non-removable battery.
- Not suitable for cleaning medium pile carpets.
- No Turbo mode.
- No HEPA filter.
I can say that the first three comments are common to most upright vacuum cleaners, while the last two are unique to this particular model. If they aren't critical to you, it's worth considering. For the price, it's a pretty compelling option, considering its features and test results.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
