JENXY RC78: A dual-spray, smartphone-controlled window cleaning robot

The JENXY RC78 window cleaning robot, priced at $150 at the time of writing, boasts dual spraying of liquid in each direction as the robot moves, the ability to control it not only with a remote control but also via a smartphone, as well as a full warranty and service support. Basically, this type of equipment doesn't need much else. So, below, I'll test the JENXY RC78 in detail, highlight its pros and cons based on my test results, and then express my opinion. So, let's get started!
Equipment
As usual, let's start with the package contents. The robot arrived in this branded box:
The package includes:
- The window cleaning robot itself with a safety rope and extension cable attached.
- Power unit.
- Cable for connecting the power supply to the network.
- Remote control with batteries.
- 6 spare sets of napkins, i.e. 12 pieces.
- Two spare napkin holders.
- Bottle for pouring liquid into the robot.
- Operating instructions.
You can also purchase a branded cleaning solution, which you pour into the robot's tank instead of water. A 250 ml bottle costs $10.
Overall, the package is good. I'm glad the manufacturer includes a cleaning solution, which is rare.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the design of the JENXY RC78. It's oval-shaped, meaning the cleaning module consists of two round pads. It's available in a stylish black and bronze color.
The body height is stated as 115 mm, although the robot is actually just under 100 mm. It should fit through windows with bars.
The robot has liquid sprayers on both sides, each of which is triggered as the robot moves.
A handle for grasping the robot is mounted on top. It contains ventilation holes for the main motor, which suctions the robot to the surface. A single mechanical control button is located on the body.
The robot has a built-in 50 ml tank. It can be filled with either clean water or a specially designed cleaning solution. The nozzles can be removed for replacement or cleaning by unscrewing the corresponding screws.
The wipe holders are secured to the robot using standard clips. A light indicating the robot's status is visible underneath, but its placement is questionable. If the wipe is attached to the body, the indicator is simply invisible.
The pros and cons of this design will be discussed during the final review. Let's move on!
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of JENXY RC78, as declared by the manufacturer:
- Backup battery: Li-Ion, 600 mAh.
- Power consumption: 80 W.
- Battery life: up to 35 min.
- Dimensions: 290*145*115 mm.
- Glass cleaning speed: 1 sq.m./4 min.
- Noise level: up to 75 dB.
Everything here is standard for this type of equipment.
Functional capabilities
Let's move on to an overview of the features. The main functions are located on the control panel. These include manual control, automatic water supply, manual spray, selection of one of three motion modes, window cleaning pause, and start/pause.
The robot can also be controlled via a mobile app. Here, you can select one of three operating modes, manually control the robot, turn the automatic water supply on and off, and even adjust the frequency of cleaning fluid spray.
In general, it is convenient that there are two alternative options for controlling the robot.
Testing
A detailed video review of the JENXY RC78, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Navigation and window cleaning quality
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check how the JENXY RC78 performs at its primary task – cleaning windows from the outside. We'll also be able to evaluate its navigation. The robot's first pass over the windows collects all the dirt. It's recommended not to wet the wipes to reduce the risk of the robot smearing dirt across the glass. I also disabled the automatic water spray.
For the second pass, you can fill the robot with water, spray a little water or cleaning agent onto the wipes, and turn on the automatic liquid spray.
Let's compare the condition of the windows before and after:
Here I will just note that the weak point of all window cleaning robots without exception, including this one, is that corners remain unwashed due to the design features of the cleaning module.
Otherwise, the window cleaning quality is on par with similar products. It also navigates narrow windows without a problem!
Application on other surfaces
This robot can also be used to clean tiled walls, shower stalls, and mirrors. It's even important to note that the JENXY RC78 can gently roll away from the edges of frameless surfaces without losing its grip. That's a plus! However, from experience, I can say it's best not to use the robot with round cloths on frameless surfaces, as they lack special corner sensors like square robots, increasing the risk of the robot falling over. Keep this in mind!
But for those interested, this window cleaning robot can't function properly on horizontal surfaces. The navigation algorithm is faulty. Moreover, when approaching an edge, the robot lost traction and malfunctioned.
Emergency mode
Finally, I'll tell you about the JENXY RC78's emergency mode. When disconnected from the power supply, the robot starts beeping and the red indicator on both sides flashes.
But there's a more important caveat—the reverse side, which is particularly noticeable when the robot is installed outside on a window—the visual status indicator is hidden behind a napkin, and you won't be able to detect an emergency by the indicator light. Only by the sound.
Let's sum it up
The JENXY RC78 window cleaning robot was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll summarize and share my personal opinion of the robot after using it. Here's what I liked:
- Good quality window cleaning.
- Double-sided automatic spraying of cleaning liquid onto the surface.
- Control via app and remote control.
- Capable of washing frameless surfaces.
- Good navigation.
- Work on small windows.
- The robot's versatility. It's suitable for cleaning not only windows, but also glass doors, mirrors, and wall tiles.
- The manufacturer offers a branded cleaning agent that will improve the quality of window cleaning.
- Availability of warranty and service.
As for the shortcomings, the following were found:
- It doesn't wash into the corners.
- Does not work on horizontal surfaces.
- The indicator light at the bottom is hidden behind a napkin, which makes it impossible to visually assess an emergency situation when the robot is installed outside on a window.
I'll note here that the first two shortcomings are common to all window cleaning robots. The last one is unique to this model. It's not exactly critical, but I don't quite understand why it was implemented this way. In any case, the robot accomplishes its primary task if you evaluate the condition of the windows before and after cleaning, and that's the most important thing.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
