Redkey P9: A Convenient and Effective Upright Vacuum Cleaner for $150

Hello to all readers of this project! In this review, I'll be looking at an affordable upright vacuum cleaner called the Redkey P9. It's priced between $120 and $150. For this price, you get a cordless vacuum with a set of attachments, three power levels, a backlight, an ergonomic design, and several other important features that few upright vacuums in this segment can boast. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Redkey P9, highlight its pros and cons based on my test results, and then share my personal opinion. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Main block.
- Removable battery.
- Extension tube.
- Basic floor nozzle.
- An attachment with a motorized brush for cleaning upholstered furniture and mattresses.
- Attachment with sliding bristles.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Wall holder with mounting elements.
- Replacement HEPA filter 13th generation.
- Power adapter.
- Operating instructions translated into Russian.
Considering the price, I think the package is good.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Redkey P9's design. Let's start with the main unit. It's black with red accents. It houses a 350-watt motor, generating up to 30,000 Pa of suction power—a solid figure for a device priced under $150.
Let's take a look at the design. The battery is removable, which is a plus. It needs to be charged by manually connecting the charger to the port on the side of the battery itself.
The vacuum cleaner is turned on and off by pressing the trigger button. There's no need to hold it down. The display shows the battery charge, the selected power mode, service messages, and a button for switching between operating modes. There are three modes: Eco, Medium, and Maximum.
The 600 ml dust container traditionally opens with a button on the bottom, which releases the bottom and the contents fall out. Conveniently, the container can be completely removed for emptying trapped debris and cleaning if needed.
Interestingly, the system boasts a 5-stage filtration system, including a pre-motor HEPA filter, a mesh filter, a standard cyclone, a 6-zone cyclone, and a blow-out HEPA filter located under the lid. Two HEPA filters and a multi-cyclone are very impressive.
The main brush features a swivel joint, a light for the cleaning area, and a universal roller with short bristles. This type of roller has proven itself effective on both hard floors and carpets. The roller is removed by releasing the locking mechanism. No special tools are required. No combs were found behind the turbo brush.
Speaking of the additional attachments, they are standard. To remove the motorized turbo brush from the upholstery nozzle, you'll need a coin and a screwdriver to release the locking tab. The crevice tool and the retractable bristle nozzle require no further explanation.
And the wall holder deserves special attention.
It's a convenient place to store the upright vacuum cleaner and all its attachments. It's great! It's a shame there's no wireless charging on the holder, but for this price range, it's adequate.
All the main pros and cons of the design will be voiced during the summary, and we'll move on!
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Redkey P9, as stated by the manufacturer, are displayed on the screen:
- Power consumption: 350 W.
- Suction power: up to 30,000 Pa.
- Li-Ion battery 2600 mAh.
- Operating time up to 60 min.
- Dust collector: 600 ml.
- Noise level 72-77 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 2.3 kg.
I personally measured the vacuum cleaner's noise level. It ranges from 72 to 77 dB, depending on the selected mode. This is quite normal for cordless vacuum cleaners.
The main unit weighs 1,355 grams, the extension tube weighs 251 grams, and the main floor nozzle weighs 682 grams. The fully assembled vacuum weighs 2,288 grams. It's lighter than most similar vacuums, which is a significant factor for many.
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the Redkey P9's battery life at maximum power with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed 16 minutes and 27 seconds of runtime, which is a good result. The standard runtime for cordless vacuum cleaners is between 10 and 12 minutes.
Suction power
In terms of suction power, in Eco mode, the vacuum cleaner was able to completely remove debris from crevices up to 4 mm deep and partially from 6-10 mm. At medium power, it significantly improved cleaning in crevices up to 8 mm deep, while partially removing 10 mm. It even partially removed 12 mm. At maximum power, the vacuum cleaner partially removed 18 mm, while effectively cleaning crevices up to 16 mm deep. I consider this model's suction power to be average, which is also adequate for the $150 price point.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the vacuum cleaner picks up debris from the floor. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate floor: hair, fur, grains, cat litter pellets, and other small household debris. It picked up the bulk of the debris. It's important to note that it doesn't have a blind spot in the corners; just look how well it sweeps the outer and inner corners. It picked up all the debris!
But there's another caveat. The nozzle isn't capable of picking up large debris like cat litter pellets. As a result, it needs to be lifted. Not very convenient. And if large debris gets lodged in a corner, it's difficult to remove.
Carpet cleaning
The vacuum cleaner performs as well as its competitors when it comes to cleaning carpets, capable of cleaning not only carpet but also medium-pile carpets. This is all thanks to the elastic bristle inserts in the turbo brush, which thoroughly clean the pile.
And here is the condition of the turbo brush after all the tests:
You can see that the bristle inserts tend to pick up some fur and hair, so the brush will need to be cleaned manually periodically.
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the three additional attachments allow you to clean a sofa, reach areas the main attachment can't reach, and even clean the inside of a car. Overall, the vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.
Cleaning the dust collector
Finally, I'll tell you how to clean the dust bin. Just press the button, and all the debris falls out through the bottom. If hair or fur gets stuck in the bin, you can remove the dust bin, take out the filtration system, and shake out the remaining contents without touching the debris. Convenient!
Personal opinion
The Redkey P9 cordless stick vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my thoughts. I liked the following:
- Favorable price.
- Long operating time even at maximum power.
- Capable of picking up debris on a variety of surfaces, including medium-pile carpets.
- Good multi-stage filtration system.
- Removable dust collector.
- Removable battery.
- Convenient storage on a wall holder.
- Illumination of the cleaning area.
- Convenient one-hand control.
- A good set of accessories, which includes all the necessary attachments for standard purposes and even a HEPA filter.
- Light weight when fully assembled.
- Availability of warranty and service.
As for the shortcomings, the following comments were identified regarding the vacuum cleaner:
- The nozzle has difficulty picking up large debris; it needs to be lifted slightly to do so.
- There is no vertical parking outside the holder.
Overall, I don't consider these comments critical, as the price of this upright vacuum cleaner is very attractive. Overall, my opinion is positive, so I definitely recommend it for those on a budget.
