The main distinguishing feature of the iRobot Roomba 890 is its special cleaning system, which is based on:

  1. A specially designed turbo brush, featuring rubber rollers with scrapers and the AeroForce™ Extractors anti-tangle system, thoroughly scrubs even dried-on dirt, picking up the smallest dust and sand particles, and removing hair and fur. These hairs are caught in the dust collector and prevented from tangling on the brushes thanks to their rubber design. Additionally, the robot is equipped with a highly efficient AeroForce filter, which can capture and retain up to 99% of allergens and other particles.
  2. High suction power, which is the result of increased air flow between the dust collector and the isolated vacuum channel, which is characterized by a high degree of tightness.

The robot vacuum cleaner navigates its surroundings thanks to an advanced navigation system. Numerous built-in sensors allow the device to plot an optimal cleaning route and effectively clean under furniture, along walls, and in corners. The robot can automatically recognize the dirtiest areas and linger there for a more thorough cleaning.

A set of sensors and a soft bumper prevent the device from hitting furniture, damaging it, tipping over, or falling down stairs or other elevated surfaces.

You can limit the cleaning area using a virtual wall. In this iRobot model, it acts as a "beacon" that can block areas up to three meters from the robot's access. Also in virtual wall A "halo" mode is included, preventing the device from approaching the "beacon" within 1.5 meters. This can be useful for users with pets and plants. This prevents the device from accidentally knocking over food and water bowls or plant pots while cleaning.

Advantages and disadvantages

iRobot is a globally recognized brand. Each of the company's robot vacuum models has its own distinct advantages. The advantages of the Roomba 890 are summarized below:

  1. High degree of autonomy.
  2. Attractive appearance.
  3. Compared to previous models of the iRobot Roomba series, the iRobot Roomba 890 uses an XLife lithium-ion battery, which has a longer service life and maintains its performance characteristics longer.
  4. Anti-confusion technology.
  5. Increased suction power.
  6. Powerful engine.
  7. High-quality navigation system.
  8. Programming a cleaning schedule.
  9. Good ability to overcome obstacles up to 2 cm high.
  10. A large-area HEPA filter that traps even the smallest dust particles.
  11. Dust collector full indicator.
  12. The ability to control the robot using a mobile application on your phone via a Wi-Fi network.
  13. Low noise level.

The only drawback to this model is the lack of a remote control in the basic package. It's also worth noting that the average price for this model in 2018 was $300. Considering it's the most advanced robot vacuum in the 800 series and features Wi-Fi control, the price is entirely justified.

Finally, we recommend watching a video review of the iRobot Roomba 890:

That concludes our review of the Roomba 890. If you're looking for a robot vacuum that's both powerful and easy to maintain, we recommend this model. We give it a 5 out of 5 rating.

Hello! How can I find out the battery capacity of the Rumba 890 in Wh to determine if it's allowed on a plane? The regulations state that batteries up to 100 Wh can be carried without restrictions, and batteries between 100 and 160 Wh require airline approval. I'd like to hear your recommendation on the best way to transport the battery (if allowed): separately or in the vacuum cleaner. Thank you in advance for your reply. Irina, housewife.
