Lydsto H4: Upright vacuum cleaner with self-cleaning dust bin at the station

Lydsto H4 photoLydsto H4 photo

The Lydsto H4 is a rather interesting upright vacuum cleaner, its main feature being a self-cleaning station that automatically empties the dust bin and deposits dirt into a dedicated bag. It also boasts a set of included attachments and a suction power of up to 25 kPa. For such a comprehensive package, you'll have to pay up to $250, or up to $250 at the exchange rate at the time of writing. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Lydsto H4, highlight its pros and cons, and then express my opinion on whether it's worth buying. I'd be grateful if you'd appreciate my efforts by subscribing and liking after watching the video. So, let's get started!

The kit is almost complete. Ideally, it would also include a replacement carpet roller for the main nozzle.

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the Lydsto H4's design. Let's start with the vacuum cleaner itself. It's black and white. The buttons and locking knobs are highlighted in yellow, making the controls intuitive. This model doesn't have a display. The vacuum cleaner is turned on by pressing the trigger button. To keep it on, press the trigger lock button, located on the end. Next to it, you'll see another button for adjusting the suction power. There are three power levels.

Main block

The vacuum cleaner's battery is non-removable. The Lydsto H4 charges at a charging station, but there's also a charging port for direct charging. A charger with a direct charging port is not included.

At the bottom of the dust container, we see a self-cleaning curtain. The container is emptied by pressing a button. The bottom opens, and debris falls out. This is if you need to empty the dust container manually. The container itself, unfortunately, is also non-removable. The filtration system, consisting of a HEPA filter, a foam filter, a cyclone filter, and a mesh filter, is removed from it. In total, there are four visible filtration levels. A blow-out filter, if present, is non-removable.

The main floor nozzle features a swivel joint and a fluffy roller for hard floors. A suction port is located behind the roller. The roller lock is removable by hand, eliminating the need for tools. It's also equipped with an LED light, allowing for enhanced cleaning in low-light areas.

Speaking of the included attachments, the mini turbo brush is very useful for cleaning upholstery and mattresses. The roller has flexible bristles that effectively grab pet hair. The retractable bristle attachment is also useful for spot cleaning, and the crevice tool is equipped with a convenient LED light.

This is what the vacuum cleaner looks like when assembled:

The vacuum cleaner's main feature is its docking station. The top section houses the main unit. The docking station is equipped with terminals for wireless charging and a suction channel for self-cleaning the dust bin.

The bottom section contains the dust bag. Its capacity is 2.5 liters, which should last at least a month with active use.

Self-cleaning station

Unfortunately, given the station's large size, there are no holders for the included attachments. They will have to be stored separately, which is inconvenient.

The Lydsto H4's design has both pros and cons, which I'll detail in my final review. For now, I can only say that the build quality is good and the plastic itself is not cheap. It's perfectly in line with its price range.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of Lydsto H4, as declared by the manufacturer:

  • Power consumption 400 W.
  • The station power is 1000 W.
  • Suction power up to 25 kPa / up to 150 aW.
  • Li-Ion battery 2500 mAh.
  • Dust collector 400 ml.
  • Bag in the station 2.5 l.
  • Operating time from 8 to 60 minutes.
  • Charging time up to 3 hours.
  • Noise level 77-84 dB.
  • Weight when fully assembled: 2.66 kg.

I personally measured the noise level with a sound level meter. It ranged from 77 to 84 dB, depending on the selected mode. This vacuum cleaner has a higher noise level.

As for weight, the main unit weighs 1,595 grams, the extension tube weighs 242 grams, and the main nozzle weighs 821 grams. The complete vacuum weighs 2,658 grams. This is a fairly standard weight for an upright vacuum. The center of gravity is strategically positioned low, preventing hand fatigue during use.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Lydsto H4, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the Lydsto H4's battery life in Turbo mode with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed to run for 8 minutes and 38 seconds, which is slightly longer than the manufacturer's claim, but 3-4 minutes shorter than most similar models. It's worth noting that the vacuum cleaner can run for up to 20 minutes on medium power, and up to 60 minutes on low power.

Suction power

As for suction power, even at minimum setting, the Lydsto H4 easily sucked up debris from a 10mm gap. So, this upright vacuum cleaner has increased suction power. You might not need to use Turbo mode.

Collecting debris on laminate flooring

Now let's test how well the Lydsto H4 picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. This machine performed well. It's important to note that it has no trouble picking up debris along baseboards and in corners. It picks everything up thoroughly. No fur or hair gets caught in the roller. All debris is collected in the dust bin. Test passed!

Carpet cleaning

The same debris was scattered on the carpet, and the Lydsto H4 did an equally good job cleaning the carpet. The fluffy roller for hard floors, while not as effective on carpets, is still capable of picking up surface debris.

Using additional attachments

It's also worth noting that the complete kit allows you to clean a sofa, areas beyond the reach of the main nozzle, and even car interiors. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.

Self-cleaning

Finally, I'll explain how the self-cleaning function works. There are some nuances. It's essential to secure the top part, the station holder, to the wall. If this isn't done, the holder tilts when hanging the vacuum, and the main unit doesn't connect well with the suction channel for self-cleaning. As a result, debris isn't completely emptied from the dust bin, and the whole self-cleaning feature is defeated. However, if the holder is positioned strictly vertically, the vacuum cleaner self-cleans well. Not perfectly, but almost completely. All debris is emptied into a bag, which needs to be replaced when full.

Personal opinion

The Lydsto H4 upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. Based on my experience with it and testing it, I can highlight the following pros and cons.

I liked the following:

  1. Self-cleaning function.
  2. Increased suction power.
  3. High-quality waste collection on hard surfaces.
  4. Illumination of the cleaning area.
  5. Wireless charging on the holder.
  6. The kit includes additional attachments for local cleaning.
  7. Stylish design.
  8. High quality assembly.
  9. Availability of warranty and service.
  10. Optimal price, considering the presence of the station.

As for the disadvantages, there are the following comments about the vacuum cleaner:

  1. There is no replacement roller for cleaning carpets.
  2. Short operating time in Turbo mode.
  3. Non-removable dust collector.
  4. Non-removable battery.
  5. For high-quality self-cleaning, the station must be attached to the wall.
  6. The station does not provide storage for additional attachments.
  7. Vertical parking outside the holder is not provided.
  8. There is no display.
  9. Increased noise level.

Most of the listed downsides won't be critical for many. Given the price, I'd definitely consider the Lydsto H4 for a budget of under $250, provided the floors are carpeted or have short pile. The vacuum cleaner is actually effective and convenient, though it does have its drawbacks. The presence of a station is certainly debatable, considering you'll be vacuuming manually and it won't be difficult to empty the dust container. However, for allergy sufferers, for example, this solution can be very useful for minimizing contact with debris and dust.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
