The Neatsvor X520 is a new Chinese robot vacuum cleaner, priced between $150 and $180. It only features a gyroscope for navigation. However, the manufacturer has equipped it with a capacious 5200 mAh lithium-ion battery and claims a suction power of up to a record-breaking 6000 Pa. If the robot is truly that powerful, it could make a splash in the market. Below, we'll take a closer look and test the Neatsvor X520, after which we'll share our opinion on whether it's worth buying. Let's get started!

Equipment

First, let's look at what's included in the package. The robot vacuum arrived in a box like this:

The only thing missing from the kit is a movement limiter, but otherwise there is everything you need to use the robot vacuum cleaner for the first six months.

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the robot vacuum cleaner itself. The Neatsvor X520, like its older brother X600 It's finished in black with a glossy finish. On top, you'll find the company logo, two control buttons (Start/Pause and Return to Charge), and a Wi-Fi connection indicator. A soft-touch mechanical bumper is located on the front.

A 350 ml water tank can be installed in place of the dust collector. A pump for electronically controlling the water flow is visible on top. A separate waste collection compartment is provided. It's important to note that the Neatsvor X520 does not vacuum in wet cleaning mode, but it can sweep.

Overall, the robot vacuum cleaner is of a fairly standard design and build quality, I can't really point out anything special.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of the Neatsvor X520, as stated by the manufacturer:

  • Li-Ion battery 5200 mAh.
  • Suction power up to 6000 Pa.
  • Cleaning area up to 250 sq.m.
  • Battery life up to 180 min.
  • Dust collector 600 ml.
  • Water tank 350 ml.
  • Obstacle clearance up to 1.5 cm.
  • Dimensions 330*75 mm.

It's important to note that, thanks to its powerful battery, the manufacturer claims the robot can cover a fairly large area, cleaning for up to 3 hours on a single charge. However, in reality, robot vacuum cleaners with a gyroscope can effectively clean areas no larger than 60 square meters. A maximum of 80 square meters would be a challenge for them. So, assuming ideal conditions, a rectangular room without obstacles, the robot can cover up to 250 square meters. However, if we're talking about real-life conditions, a target range of 60 square meters is best.

And the suction power is claimed to be simply astronomical compared to competitors; we will also test it on the test bench to compare it with similar products.

Functional capabilities

The Neatsvor X520 is controlled via a mobile app and remote control. First, let's show you how to control it from a smartphone. To do this, you need to download the Weback app, register, log in, and scan the QR code on the robot itself to connect it to the network. Personally, my robot wouldn't connect to the network for a long time, no matter what I did. But I finally managed to connect it without any additional steps. Perhaps the servers are overloaded, causing connection issues. Also, the robot was almost completely dead out of the box, so I charged it overnight and then tried reconnecting. Maybe that helped. Customer reviews online also indicate issues with connecting to a smartphone. Anyway, I was able to connect it, so I'll show you how it works.

The main dashboard displays a map created by the robot since the last cleaning. Below it, data from the previous cleaning and the current battery status are stored.

Settings

This is all the functionality of the Neatsvor X520. The remote control features an on/off button for the robot vacuum, a display showing the time and cleaning data, and below that, a button for starting the automatic cleaning mode and forcing the robot to return to the charging base. Below these buttons are buttons for manually controlling the robot, as well as a start/pause button. Below these are a row of buttons for adjusting the suction power, setting the current time on the display, and a single-room cleaning mode. The manufacturer recommends activating this mode by further restricting the cleaning area by closing the door and leaving the robot in one of the desired rooms. The bottom row of buttons is used to activate the wet cleaning mode, set up a scheduled cleaning schedule, and initiate a perimeter cleaning mode.

Remote control

Overall, the remote control duplicates more functions than the app, so I'm not sure the app will be useful at all. Incidentally, the Neatsvor X520 can also be controlled via the Yandex.Alice voice assistant.

Video review

You can watch all the tests, a review of the robot vacuum cleaner's components, and its appearance in detail in our video:

Testing

Navigation

Let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check the Neatsvor X520's navigation within a single room with obstacles in automatic cleaning mode. The robot vacuum traverses the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. Its contact with objects is rough; it moved a chair and a box during cleaning. It didn't get stuck on the dryer. After traversing the entire accessible area, the Neatsvor X520 switched to perimeter cleaning, making three circles without returning to its home base. It ended up cleaning this way for over 30 minutes, after which it was decided to end the test. As you can see, the map was constantly redrawing. So, this model's navigation in challenging conditions didn't inspire confidence. But at least when forced to return, the robot found its home base without issue and returned to it, which is at least a good thing.

Navigating within a room

We also tested the Neatsvor X520's performance across the entire house. The situation repeated itself: first, the robot vacuum slithered through all the rooms, creating a more or less accurate map. It then began cleaning the perimeter, redrew the room boundaries, and repeatedly passed over previously cleaned areas. But at least it did return to its base at some point. As a result, it took 82 minutes to clean the 34 square meters, making it the longest-lasting robot vacuum we've tested.

Navigation within the home

Overall, this model's navigation isn't the best, even compared to other gyroscope-equipped robots. The only positive is that there were no uncleaned areas in two tests.

Suction power

Moving on, let's test the Neatsvor X520's suction power, which, according to the manufacturer, reaches 6000 Pa. The robot is indeed quite noisy, as if it had a powerful motor, but in reality, it only managed to suck up debris from a 2 mm-deep crevice.

Suction powerSuction power

Suction power

This seems like a good figure and the market average, but most robots that claim 2500-2700 Pa perform similarly, and some even better. So, in my opinion, the 6000 Pa figure is a marketing ploy.

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

The dry cleaning performance was impressive. The Neatsvor X520 was able to pick up almost all the debris from the floor and even swept corners better than many other round robots. Most of the debris was collected in the dust bin, while the side and center brushes were tangled with hair, which was abundant on the test bench. Overall, this test was passed successfully.

Cleaning the carpet

There are no complaints about cleaning carpets either; the robot vacuum cleaner did a good job of effectively picking up fur, hair, and small debris from the carpet.

Wet cleaning

The cleaning performance isn't very good. Some dirt still remains on the stand, including along the baseboard. However, given the stand's initial condition, the robot's cleaning performance is average.

Wet cleaningWet cleaning

Wet cleaning

But it's perfectly suitable for delicate wet cleaning. The water tank is sufficient for the entire cleaning cycle.

Obstacle clearance

The Neatsvor X520 has a maximum off-road capability of 15 mm, as stated by the manufacturer. Unfortunately, it can't cross two-centimeter thresholds.

Driving on dark surfaces

However, this robot vacuum cleaner isn't afraid of dark surfaces and moves smoothly over them, ignoring any elevation changes. That's a plus.

Noise level

Finally, let's check the Neatsvor X520's noise level in different modes. In wet cleaning mode, with the suction disabled, the noise level reaches 60 dB. At minimum power, it doesn't exceed 65 dB, but at maximum power, the noise level reaches 72 dB. In my opinion, the robot vacuum is unreasonably noisy, given its suction power.

Let's sum it up

Neatsvor X520 has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he was able to dial 46 out of 100 pointsFor a robot vacuum cleaner, the results are quite good, I'd even say standard. But there's one catch: this robot costs over $150, while similar robots can cost a few $10 less and have a higher rating. Check out the rating for yourself: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.

Let's take a closer look at the pros and cons of the Neatsvor X520. Among the advantages, I can highlight:

  1. Powerful battery.
  2. Optimal suction power, just like a robot vacuum cleaner.
  3. Good equipment.
  4. Wet cleaning function.
  5. Control via app and remote control.
  6. Good quality dry cleaning.
  7. Yandex Alice support.
  8. Possibility of working on dark surfaces.

As for the disadvantages, it is obvious that:

  1. Poor navigation.
  2. Problems connecting to the application.
  3. A robot vacuum cleaner cannot vacuum and mop the floor at the same time.
  4. There is no movement limiter included.
  5. Poor cross-country ability.

And besides all that, the price tag is above the market average. So, after reviewing the robot, I'm personally of two minds. On the one hand, it's the same as most budget robots, but on the other hand, for $150–$180, you can already choose robot vacuum cleaner with a camera for navigation and even lidar, which will be more functional and better at spatial navigation. So I would recommend this model if there's a good discount. Otherwise, even the older Neatsvor X600 with lidar can be purchased for $170-180. It's just as good in cleaning performance, but clearly better in navigation.

I'd like to end this review on that note. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Neatsvor X520 in the comments. If you have any questions, please let me know. Happy shopping, everyone!
