Roborock Qrevo S: More Power + Improved Cloth Lifting FOR THE SAME MONEY

Roborock Qrevo SRoborock Qrevo S

This review will examine the latest new product of 2024 – the Roborock Qrevo S robot vacuum cleaner. This model is quite interesting, as while priced at $550-$650, which is on par with the standard Roborock Qrevo, the S version boasts increased suction power from 5500 to 7000 Pa and a larger cleaning height from 7 to 10 mm. In other words, the robot has been slightly improved while remaining no more expensive than its predecessor. What a move! So, next, I'll test whether the Roborock Qrevo S is truly an improvement, and then I'll share my thoughts. Let's get started!

Equipment

Let's start with the package contents. The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in this branded box:

Appearance

Let's take a look at the Roborock Qrevo S's design. It's available in both white and black. I prefer the white version, which is more practical. The robot vacuum itself is round.

The cleaning cloths are of the usual design, but the material is much thicker than most similar ones. The left cleaning cloth doesn't have a retractable mechanism like the older Roborock Qrevo MaxV. Therefore, there will be a blind spot between the edge of the cleaning cloth and the baseboard, the width of which I will verify in tests.

I'd like to point out that the wiper holders can automatically lift 10 mm when the robot enters carpets and returns to the station, or when moving to the cleaning area. This is a plus.

As for the station, the ramp for the robot to enter and the tray where the wipes are washed are removable. This is VERY convenient for station maintenance.

The water tanks have been slightly reduced in size, but they are still quite capacious. The clean water tank holds 4 liters, while the dirty water tank holds 3.5 liters. The standard Qrevo's tanks hold 5 and 4.2 liters, respectively.

I'll add that the Roborock Qrevo S station not only self-cleaning and washing cloths, but also drying them with warm air. That's a plus! However, like the Qrevo, there's no heating option for washing. Connecting the station to a sewer or water supply is also not possible.

Overall, we can only visually see a change in the height of the napkins.

Functions

New features include the addition of SmartPlan mode, which automatically adjusts cleaning parameters based on flooring type, room type, and other parameters. I can already say that the robot has a wide range of functions, allowing you to flexibly customize cleaning parameters to your specific needs.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Roborock Qrevo S, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Navigation

And finally, let's move on to the tests! First, we'll test the Roborock Qrevo S's navigation in a room with obstacles. When entering the room, the robot vacuum first circled a box, then moved around the perimeter, and then cleaned the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. It navigated around the legs of a clothes dryer without getting stuck. The robot also navigated around the legs of a chair, then returned to its base. Test successful!

Navigating an Obstacle Room

Speaking of navigating around the home, the Roborock Qrevo S cleans room by room, first along the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. Every 15 minutes, as specified in the settings, the robot vacuum returns to the station and rinses the cleaning cloth, then returns to clean where it left off. There are no uncleaned areas, the cleaning speed is high, and this model's navigation is excellent!

Identifying and avoiding obstacles

We'll also test the floor object detection system. For this, we placed various household items around the room that could interfere with the cleaning process and even block the robot's brushes, causing it to malfunction.

So, in good lighting, the Roborock Qrevo S was able to safely navigate around three of the six objects. It ran over a simulated pet surprise and chewed a sock and a cord. The second time, the situation was similar.

Roborock Qrevo S: Obstacle Detection and AvoidanceRoborock Qrevo S: Obstacle Detection and Avoidance

Identifying and avoiding obstacles

Meanwhile, the previous-generation Q Revo performed much better in this test, accurately navigating around five of six objects. It only ran over a simulated pet surprise. I think this may be because I received my review sample back in May, directly from the factory. It's likely that updates will improve this by the time it goes on sale, and the robot will be as capable as the previously released Q Revo.

It's worth noting that the bumper sensors can only detect objects on the floor and display them as icons on the map, but the robot is not capable of recognizing what's actually on the floor, as is the case with the MaxV versions. This means this model lacks artificial intelligence, and this is important to keep in mind.

Suction power

As for suction power, it actually turned out to be high. The Roborock Qrevo S was able to suck up debris from crevices up to 10 mm deep, while the standard Roborock Qrevo achieved a maximum suction power of 6 mm. So, the updated model is actually much more powerful, and that's impressive!

Dry cleaning of laminate flooring

The collection quality of various types of debris on laminate floors is good. Only a little debris remains in the corners, where round robotic vacuums can't reach. All debris is collected in the dust bin. It's important to note that the central brush didn't get tangled with hair. Hair only got tangled around the side brush. That's a plus!

Carpet cleaning

The same debris was scattered on a low-pile carpet. And I can say that the Roborock Qrevo S thoroughly cleaned the carpet.

Carpet cleaning

It can also clean medium-pile carpets, but not as effectively. This is because silicone turbo brushes are slightly inferior to a conventional bristle-petal brush in terms of picking up debris on carpets.

Self-cleaning

Immediately after the "dirty tests," I checked how well the robot vacuum self-cleaned. I returned it to the station and started the self-cleaning process. The results were excellent. The dust bin was completely empty, so this robot's self-cleaning function is excellent!

Wet cleaning

The cleaning performance on slightly dried-on dirt is also excellent. The cloth presses firmly to the floor and absorbs dirt.

Removing difficult stains

When it came to scrubbing tough stains, the robot even managed to remove dried-on coffee and sauce stains. Granted, it didn't do so on the first try. It took eight tries, to be precise. But it was still up to the task. Many similar and predecessor robots in the line couldn't even achieve this level of performance.

Blind spot

Speaking of blind spots, as expected, there's a narrow area along the baseboard, which is a weak point for most robot vacuums we've reviewed. In the case of the Roborock Qrevo S, the blind spot is just under 50 mm wide.

Wet cleaning and carpets

I'll cover wet cleaning on carpets separately. The robot has four modes of interaction with carpets. It can carefully navigate around them in wet cleaning mode, it can drive over them and press the cleaning pad against the carpet if you want to clean the carpet with the robot, it can drive over the carpet with the suction turned off and the cleaning pads raised, and the best option is to automatically lift the cleaning pad when driving over carpets.

Washing quality of napkins

We also tested the cleaning performance of the wipes after the dirty tests. After the tests, they had absorbed all the dirt. We ran the rinse cycle, waited, and observed. Visually, the wipes were much cleaner. But not perfectly clean. From experience, I can say the cleaning results are good, no worse than similar products. In everyday use, after washing the floor, the wipes rinse well at the station. A minimal amount of dirt is removed under the pressure of warm water. This is a plus. There are no complaints about the cleaning performance of the wipes.

The station is easy to maintain! We remove the drain and tray, rinse them in the sink, and put them back. As mentioned before, the station is very practical!

A few words about the wipe drying process—it's really effective. After 4 hours, the wipe is completely dry. That's a plus!

Obstacle clearance

The Roborock Qrevo S has excellent maneuverability. It can navigate even 2 cm thresholds while still picking up napkins. That's a plus!

And the robot navigates black carpets without a problem, just like its latest predecessors. That's a plus!

Noise level

I personally measured the noise level. It ranges from 54 to 66 dB, depending on the selected operating mode. I can say that the robot is actually quite quiet compared to previous models and similar products from other brands. Moreover, the suction power is high.

Personal opinion

The Roborock Qrevo S robot vacuum cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 179 points and settle down next to your brothers Roborock S8 Pro Ultra And Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra V overall ranking of robotic vacuum cleanersI'll highlight the pros and cons of the robot vacuum cleaner in question, and then share my opinion.

I liked the following:

  1. High suction power.
  2. Availability of a station for self-cleaning the dust collector, washing and drying napkins.
  3. Effective self-cleaning of the dust collector and wipes.
  4. Complete drying of napkins with hot air.
  5. Spacious tanks at the station.
  6. The station design is easy to maintain.
  7. Good navigation.
  8. The silicone turbo brush makes it easier to clean hair and fur.
  9. Improved lifting of wipers when driving onto carpets.
  10. High-quality dry and wet cleaning.
  11. A large number of functions in the application.
  12. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of black surfaces.
  13. Good cross-country ability.
  14. High-quality assembly and high brand authority.
  15. Availability of a full warranty and service support.
  16. An object detection system that allows the robot to navigate around objects more accurately.

As for the shortcomings, I would like to highlight the following comments:

  1. There is no object recognition, only detection by sensitive sensors.
  2. The system for identifying objects requires improvement.
  3. There is no active camera for remote home monitoring.
  4. The station cannot be connected to the sewerage and water supply.
  5. There is no automatic addition of detergent to the stations.
  6. Doesn't sweep out debris in the corners.
  7. There remains a narrow, unwashed area along the baseboard.

Ultimately, I can say that the robot is not a contender for the title of 2024's flagship, but it definitely makes sense to buy it, given its higher real power and favorable price for a robot with an All-in-One station.

At under $600, the Roborock Qrevo S is definitely worth considering, and its overall cleaning performance will satisfy those who aren't concerned about narrow baseboard areas and small, unswept corners. That's precisely why it made the cut. Best robot vacuum cleaners under $600 in 2024.

It has many functions, high cleaning quality, and is a reliable brand, so it can be considered as an option for purchase.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
