iRobot Roomba 606

In this review, we'll explore a new model from the world-renowned company iRobot: the iRobot Roomba 606 robotic vacuum cleaner for dry cleaning. This device is designed for cleaning tiles, laminate, parquet, and other smooth floors, as well as low-pile carpets. It can remove large debris, pet hair, and hair, as well as small particles (dust, lint, sand, and pollen). You can use the robot at home, as well as at work, cleaning offices, hotel rooms, and more. A description of the model's specifications and features is provided below.
Equipment
The iRobot Roomba 606 package includes the robot vacuum, charging base, power supply, battery, brushes, and dust container. Additionally, the package includes a printed instruction manual and warranty card.
The manufacturer doesn't include a motion limiter or remote control, but they can be purchased separately. Everything comes in a branded cardboard box, which lists the main parameters and functions, as well as an image of the robot itself.
Design
The Roomba 606 features iRobot's signature round body made of durable, high-quality plastic. The robot vacuum cleaner is finished in black. The front panel features a sensor for contact with the cleaning zone limiter, a dust bin lock button, a Dirt Detect indicator, and a control panel.
The iRobot Roomba 606 control panel contains three main buttons:
- Clean – cleaning/switching on.
- Spot – cleaning a specific area.
- Dock – parking with a short press and demonstration of work with a long press.
The Clean button's indicator shows the current battery status. The indicator's color indicates the current status of the robot vacuum:
- red – battery is discharged;
- pulsating yellow-orange – the battery is charging;
- quickly flashing yellow-orange – recovery charge (16 hours);
- green – the battery is fully charged.
The side of the iRobot Roomba 606 features a soft bumper, ventilation holes, and a charging port.
On the bottom side of the device there are two drive wheels on the sides, one swivel roller, two contacts for charging on the docking station, one side brush, two main brushes in the center (rubber scraper and bristle brush) with a grid for their protection, a high pollution sensor, and a battery.

Functional capabilities
The iRobot Roomba 606 robot vacuum cleaner uses a patented three-stage cleaning system: one side paddle brush thoroughly cleans along walls and in corners, while two counter-rotating main brushes sweep up remaining debris and direct it into the AeroVac Bin with a filter. The filter is capable of capturing even the smallest dust particles.
The robot has two operating modes:
- Clean is an automatic cleaning mode available in all iRobot robots: in this mode, the device automatically calculates the area of the space and the cleaning time;
- Spot – a mode for local (spot) cleaning of rooms along a spiral path with a diameter of approximately one meter.
The iRobot Roomba 606 robot vacuum cleaner is powered by the iAdapt intelligent system. Using multiple sensors that send up to 67 pulses per second, the robot plans the optimal route, avoiding collisions with obstacles and falls from elevated surfaces.
Overview of the iRobot Roomba 606's basic cleaning patterns:
- in a spiral;
- along the perimeter – moving along walls, around furniture and other obstacles;
- crossing the premises in different directions;
- Identification of the most contaminated areas thanks to Dirt Detect technology.
The robot vacuum also features an anti-tangle system, preventing it from becoming entangled in cords, fringe, carpet tassels, and other floor objects. If the robot vacuum accidentally gets caught in such objects, the brushes automatically stop working and the device attempts to disentangle itself. You may hear a distinctive clicking sound when this happens.
