Redmond RV-R450

The Redmond RV-R450, the subject of this review, is a robotic vacuum cleaner for comprehensive dry cleaning and wet mopping of indoor floors. This device is a modified version of its predecessor. RV-R400 At a lower price: the dust bin capacity has been reduced to 350 milliliters and the suction power has been reduced to 15 W. However, the battery capacity has been increased to 2600 mAh and the body height has been reduced to 75 millimeters, improving the robot's battery life and maneuverability. The Redmond RV-R450 robot vacuum cleaner is in the mid-price range (approximately $150), so it offers all the features and functionality of robots in this segment. We'll discuss this in more detail below.

When viewing the device from the front, we see the Redmond RV-R450's automatic start button with an indicator light. The hinged cover takes up most of the device's space, revealing a dust container with two filters. Closer to the center is the brand name.
The front of the robot vacuum cleaner features a protective bumper with a rubber pad to cushion the body from impact with surrounding objects. Additionally, there are exhaust vents on the side, as well as a power adapter port.
The robot's bottom is designed as follows: a suction opening in the center, in front of which is a battery hatch, a rotating roller, and contacts for docking with the charging base. Rotating brushes with three brushes are located on both sides, and at the rear are two drive wheels with an automatic shut-off mechanism when lifted off the surface, a power button, and slots for attaching the wet cleaning module.
Obstacle sensors and anti-fall sensors are installed around the perimeter of the body.

Functional capabilities
The Redmond RV-R450 robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with 14 obstacle-avoidance sensors. Four cliff sensors are located on the bottom of the robot. These provide protection against accidental falls from stairs and other elevated surfaces. Navigation is generally simple, and there's no room mapping feature. Therefore, this robot vacuum cleaner is best suited for cleaning smaller areas, up to 50 square meters.
The robot vacuum cleaner cleans with two side brushes that sweep up debris from the floor and direct it into the dust bin through a suction channel. The 350-milliliter dust bin is equipped with two filters: a coarse filter—a mesh that captures the bulk of the debris (dirt, pet hair, etc.)—and an EPA fine filter, which collects up to 99% of dust particles as small as 0.06 microns.
The Redmond RV-R450 has the following operating modes:
- Automatic – cleaning the floor with a robot vacuum cleaner in accordance with a programmed algorithm (in small rooms with a large number of objects, the device moves from obstacle to obstacle; when cleaning rooms with a large free area, it moves in a zigzag pattern);
- spiral – local cleaning along an increasing circular trajectory;
- around the perimeter – the robot moves around, cleaning the entire available area along the walls and in the corners of the rooms.
You can change modes using the buttons on the remote control. You can also access the following functions from the remote control:
- delayed start at a set time;
- manual control of the robot vacuum cleaner;
- Fast spiral cleaning in 30 seconds.
To activate wet wiping, you need to perform three simple preparatory steps:
- fill the tank with water;
- Wet a microfiber cloth with tap water, wring it out slightly, and attach it to the Velcro holders.
- Install the module into the grooves on the bottom of the Redmond RV-R450.

The only positive aspects of this model are its small case height and the availability of a warranty.
