Redmond RV-UR380: 2-in-1 cordless vacuum cleaner

Cordless upright vacuum cleaners are gaining popularity, especially for spot cleaning when paired with a robot vacuum. We reviewed the affordable REDMOND RV-UR380 handheld vacuum, which costs between $100 and $120. It's one of the manufacturer's most popular models, so it's important to understand what the 380 is, how it performs, and most importantly, whether it's worth the money. We'll cover all of these in turn below. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The REDMOND RV-UR380 package includes:
- Main unit with removable battery.
- Extension tube.
- Main attachment with motorized roller.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Attachment with a soft brush.
- Power adapter.
- Wall-mounted vacuum cleaner holder with fasteners.
- User manual and warranty card.
The accessories aren't extensive, but all the basic attachments are included. The only missing items are a mini electric brush for cleaning furniture and mattresses, and a replaceable carpet roller. This is usually a bristle brush.
Appearance
Let's take a look at the main unit. The display immediately catches your eye, displaying key cleaning information. This includes the battery charge status and the selected cleaning mode. This handheld vacuum cleaner has two modes: carpet and hard floors. The difference between them is the rotation speed of the roller in the main nozzle. In carpet mode, the roller rotates faster. There's also a button for maximum power mode, giving you two modes in total: maximum and standard.
The suction is turned on and off by pressing the trigger on the handle. This is very convenient, as you don't need to hold the trigger while cleaning. The battery is easily removed for replacement if needed.
A HEPA H13 filter is installed on top. The bottom flask easily unscrews and houses a dual filtration system.
To empty the dust container, you can simply press the button on the front of the flask.
On the back of the handle, you'll find a charging port. Overall, the body looks stylish and neat. All attachments are secured with latches, preventing them from slipping off during cleaning.
Incidentally, the main unit itself weighs 1,507 grams. The extension tube weighs 304 grams, and the main nozzle 755 grams. When fully assembled, the vacuum cleaner weighs just over 2.5 kg. This is a fairly standard weight for handheld vacuums. With the crevice tool attached, the weight is 1,555 grams without the extension tube, making it convenient for spot cleaning furniture.
Let's take a look at the main nozzle. It features a fluffy roller, which is better suited for hard floors like laminate, parquet, and tile. To disassemble the brush, use a flat-head screwdriver to reposition the locking mechanism. The roller itself is high-quality, with dense bristles.
Technical specifications
Now that we've looked at the REDMOND RV-UR380's appearance, let's review its specifications. Key features include:
- Li-Ion battery, capacity 2500 mAh.
- Battery life up to 30 min.

- Power consumption 300 W.
- Suction power up to 80 AW.
- Dust collector capacity is 550 ml.

Overall, the specifications are standard for the budget price segment, with no complaints. It's much more interesting to test the REDMOND RV-UR380 and see how well it performs.
Testing
For a detailed video review of all the tests, we recommend watching our video:
Below we have collected the most basic information regarding the tests.
Opening hours
Let's start by testing the battery life in Turbo mode. We charged the battery, attached the main attachment (which draws additional power), and turned on maximum suction.
The battery lasted just over 14 minutes. This is a good result; handheld vacuums typically run for about 10 minutes in Turbo mode.
Noise level
Afterwards, the noise level was measured. In standard mode, it was around 72 dB, and in maximum mode, it reached 75.3 dB.
The noise level itself is not high, but I didn’t like the slight whistle of the engine when it was running.
Suction power
We'll use a special stand to test the depth of cracks this handheld vacuum cleaner can vacuum from.
The REDMOND RV-UR380 can effectively vacuum up to 8 mm of debris from crevices. It also managed to vacuum up to 10 mm of debris, but not all of it. Regardless, the suction power is good.
Quality of cleaning
The most interesting thing is how the REDMOND RV-UR380 handles different types of debris. We started by scattering hair and pet hair on the laminate floor. The roller does a great job of picking them up from the floor, without them getting caught in the roller, but instead, they go straight into the dust bin.
Next, we scattered various debris on the floor in the form of wool, hair, bread crumbs, cereals and ground coffee, which would imitate dust.
The vacuum cleaner removed all the debris from the floor, and also did a good job of collecting it in the corners and along the baseboards. The roller didn't pick up any debris. All the debris was collected in the container.
Cleaning performance on carpet is no worse. We switched to carpet mode, which spins the roller faster. The debris was the same as in the previous test.
The REDMOND RV-UR380 performed well on carpet, including on the carpet itself. Although the roller is less suitable for cleaning carpets, it still performed effectively.
In addition, using the included attachments, you can clean furniture and car interiors.
Let's sum it up
We tested the REDMOND RV-UR380 handheld vacuum cleaner and summarized its results by evaluating it based on various criteria, taking into account its price range.
Ergonomics 9 out of 10. The handle is comfortable, the plastic doesn't feel cheap, and all the attachments are latched so they won't fall off during use. There's also an informative display. The only thing missing is vertical parking. Otherwise, the ergonomics are perfect for a budget device.
Versatility 8 out of 10. I'm deducting points for the lack of a replaceable bristle-petal brush for the main nozzle for better cleaning on carpets, as well as a mini electric brush for cleaning furniture. However, it does have all the other necessary attachments, and the removable battery allows you to buy a spare one and swap them out mid-cleaning, giving the vacuum cleaner about half an hour of runtime in Turbo mode. Furthermore, the REDMOND RV-UR380 is ideal for cleaning the interior of a car, not just a house or apartment.
Cleaning quality 9 out of 10. You saw in our tests that this vacuum cleaner performed well on both carpet and laminate floors. It's powerful enough for a budget vacuum, doesn't trap hair and fur, and provides good dust collection even at standard power settings.
Manufacturer support 10 out of 10. I found all the necessary consumables and accessories in stock on the manufacturer's website. Furthermore, Redmond is a reputable company and provides a warranty and service for its products. Reviews of the vacuum cleaner I reviewed were mostly positive, so I have no complaints about customer support.
Total 36 out of 40 points
This is a good result, and the REDMOND RV-UR380 deservedly qualifies as one of the best handheld vacuum cleaners in the $100-$150 range. It left no negative impression, aside from a slight whistling sound during operation. But this is more likely a characteristic of the powerful motor. Otherwise, I liked everything about it.
