Xiaomi Roborock S6/T6

In 2019, Xiaomi announced the new Xiaomi Roborock S6 robot vacuum cleaner (also known as the S650, S652, and so on, depending on the model's color), which can certainly be considered the company's flagship model. This third-generation robot has undergone numerous changes, which have improved its specifications and functionality. The release date and, accordingly, the start of sales are planned for May 2019. Below, we provide a detailed review of the Xiaomi Roborock Sweep S6/T6, examining the capabilities of the updated vacuum cleaner and how it differs from the previous flagship. Roborock Sweep One S50.
Equipment
Since the robot vacuum cleaner hasn't yet appeared in online stores, the exact components are unknown, but we do know this:
- The microfiber cloth for wet cleaning comes with 10 disposable cloths. Now, after cleaning, there's no need to wash the cloth for reinstallation; simply detach the disposable cloth and install a new one. According to unofficial sources, the price of these cloths on AliExpress is $0.50 for 10. In theory, this is quite affordable for the average person.
- The charging base now has a retractable cable.
- Nozzle for wet cleaning.
Appearance
It's worth noting right away that the new Xiaomi Roborock S6 won the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2019 design award, which is a good start. Speaking of appearance, the robot vacuum cleaner is available in both white and black, like its predecessor. Roborock S55The difference is that the new case is matte rather than glossy. This eliminates the problem of fingerprints on the robot, making it less easily soiled.
The buttons on the body have also changed; they are now arranged in one row.
The rest of the design remains unchanged, with one side brush remaining. The central brush, also made of bristles and petals, is located in the center of the body. The main brush has been redesigned, and its sides can be removed for removing pet hair.
Technical specifications
The Xiaomi Roborock T6's key specifications haven't changed much, with more changes in functionality, but we'll talk about that later. As for the robot vacuum's specs, they are as follows:
| Nutrition | Li-Ion battery, 5200 mAh |
| Opening hours | 2.5 hours |
| Charging time | 150-180 minutes |
| Cleaning area | up to 250 square meters |
| Suction power | up to 2000 Pa |
| Height of obstacles to be overcome | up to 2 cm |
| Volume of the waste collection container | 500 milliliters |
| Dimensions | 35.3*35*9.65 centimeters |
| Weight | 3.6 kilograms |
It is also important to note that the manufacturer claims a 50% reduction in noise levels (down to 40 dB) due to a smaller engine, as well as the introduction of sound-insulating cotton and noise-reducing air filters.
The results are impressive, but we'll have to wait for real-world tests to see how loud the Roborock T6 is in practice.
Functional capabilities
The most interesting changes affect the functionality of the new Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner. So, to make the differences from its predecessors and all the upgrades clearly visible, let's review them in order.
The first major change is the Map Management 3.0 mapping system. Thanks to the improved navigation system, you can divide rooms into zones, restrict movement (virtual wall), and set a spot for spot cleaning by highlighting a spot on the map or simply pointing your finger at the area you want the robot to clean.
Additionally, the Xiaomi Roborock T6 can store up to three cleaning plans. If you need a robot vacuum for a two-story (or three-story) home, this model will store a floor cleaning plan for each floor.
According to the manufacturer, the new scheduling algorithm (Rock Navigation) reduces cleaning time by 20%. Furthermore, you can now schedule cleaning not only by day but also by time for each room. For example, you can have the robot vacuum clean the bedroom at 10:00 AM and the kitchen at 1:00 PM. Isn't that convenient?
It's also important to note that the robot no longer divides the room into zones on its own, but instead moves from room to room along a pre-defined, optimal route. An example is shown in the image:
Changes have also affected the very heart of the robot's navigation. The Xiaomi Roborock S6/T6's lidar is equipped with three processors, bringing the total number of integrated sensors to 14 (versus 13 in its predecessors). The new flagship Allwinner Technology processor with the R16 series chip makes the robot even smarter, faster, and more efficient. The model also features a processor from Texas Instruments and an updated MCU from STMicroelectronics.
The next innovation, long-awaited by Xiaomi robot vacuum fans, is the ability to adjust the flow rate of water from the reservoir nozzle. Furthermore, the flow of water to the cleaning cloth stops when the robot stops, making this model one of the best. best for wet cleaning.
The central rotating turbo brush has also been redesigned. It can now be disassembled for easier and faster cleaning of hair and pet fur.
The manufacturer uses an E11 class filter that can be washed with water.
And finally, it's important to note that the Xiaomi Roborock S6 robot vacuum cleaner is now compatible with the proprietary Xiao Ai voice assistant, which is designed for voice control of smart devices in the Xiaomi smart home system.
Looking ahead, I'd like to point out that this model became the leader in our updated 2019 rating; you can check it out for yourself:

How will he know what floor he's on? Will he have to specify it in the app every time he moves?
The review is informative. I'm interested in the device. I couldn't find it in Russian stores; I searched through Yandex Market. AliExpress doesn't ship to Russia. I'm asking for advice on where to buy it; I can email you.
Please advise. This model is still unavailable in online stores. Is there any news about this robotic duster's availability in Russia? Thanks in advance!
Hello! There's no information yet, so it's faster to order from Ali. The link is above the video review.
So, it turns out that the 1s model has a camera in addition to the lidar, but this one doesn’t, even though it’s a flagship, right?
And if you compare this model with the iRobot Roomba 981 and Okami U100, which one should you choose?
The Rumba is a fundamentally different robot; it's only for dry cleaning and is better suited for carpet cleaning. Okami and Roborock are comparable, so it's a matter of personal preference.
Hello! We're deciding between the Roborock T6 and the Hobot 688. We don't have carpet at home, only tile and laminate. We have pets. We're struggling to decide. Could you tell me which is better? I'm also interested in how often each one breaks and which is easier to fix.
