On March 23, 2020, the new Xiaomi Roborock T7 robot vacuum cleaner went on sale in the Chinese market, which is slightly better than its predecessors. S5 Max And S6At launch, the model was priced between $350 and $410, significantly cheaper than previously released flagships. The robot is more powerful and smarter than its predecessors, but its functionality hasn't been improved as much as we'd hoped. We hope to test this robot vacuum cleaner soon, but for now, we'll tell you more about all the new features in our preliminary review of the Xiaomi Roborock T7. Let's get started!

Appearance

The design of this robot is identical to the Roborock S5 Max, with just a couple of differences:

  1. The top panel has 3 control buttons instead of 2. You can start/stop the robot vacuum cleaner, return it to the base, or activate spot cleaning.
  2. The rear-mounted wet cleaning tank has been enlarged. It now holds up to 297 ml of water (up from 280 ml).

Otherwise, the dimensions are the same. The photo below clearly shows what the new Xiaomi Roborock T7 looks like:

Technical specifications

All the specifications are still unknown, but here's what we know for sure:

Type of cleaning Dry and wet
Power supply Li-Ion battery 5200 mAh
Cleaning area Up to 250 m2
Suction power Up to 2500 Pa
Height of obstacles Up to 20 mm
Dust collector capacity 460 ml
Water tank capacity 297 ml
Overall dimensions 353x350x96.5 mm
Weight 3.5 kg
Noise level 67 dB

A key difference is the increased suction power, up to 2500 Pa. It's more powerful than the second and third generations. However, due to the increased suction power, the noise level reaches 67 dB. The robot isn't quiet, that's a fact. Otherwise, the specifications remain unchanged.

Functional capabilities

The biggest changes affect the navigation and capabilities of the Xiaomi Roborock T7. For convenience, we'll list all the new features:

  1. RR Mason 7.0's new route-planning algorithm. The robot has learned to recognize obstacles in its path and, based on the acquired data, plot the most efficient route. Roborock T7 has also been reported to recognize pet dishes, slippers, clothing, and other objects on the floor. Furthermore, the new robot has learned to recognize pet feces and avoids running into them, smearing them across the floor. So, one of the main drawbacks of robots has now been minimized.

  2. The second key feature of the model is the ability to save up to four cleaning plans. But that's not all. Now the robot automatically detects which floor it's on and uses the appropriate map to navigate more efficiently through the rooms. Furthermore, if the robot is picked up and moved anywhere in the house, it will know where it is and, from there, will create an optimal cleaning algorithm.
  3. What no other robot vacuum cleaner has in its arsenal is the ability to customize suction power and moistening level for each room. This more flexible cleaning setting will protect carpets from getting wet, hardwood floors from being over-wetted, and, conversely, allow for a more thorough cleaning of tiled kitchen floors.
  4. According to unconfirmed reports, the Roborock T7 will be compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home voice assistants.
  5. The central brush mechanism has become floating, the rotation speed of the side brush changes automatically.

In addition, the robot automatically increases suction power on carpets, which is very effective for energy saving.

Otherwise, the functionality remains the same. It's a shame the new model didn't include a self-cleaning base, as expected. Reportedly, the base was recently patented, but we'll likely see it in future model updates.

Another unknown is whether the Xiaomi Roborock T7 has a camera. Information recently surfaced online about the new Roborock S6 MaxV, which, in addition to a lidar sensor, is equipped with a camera called ReactiveAI. It's likely something similar to the camera installed in the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 960So, the Roborock T7 and Roborock S6 MaxV are completely identical in appearance, but there is no information about the T7's ReactiveAI camera, although it is most likely installed (specifically for recognizing objects on the floor).

That's all we know about the new Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner for now. This latest feature update is definitely exciting, and if the price is lower, it will certainly be one of the best new products of 2020. If you have any information not mentioned in this review, please share it in the comments. Happy shopping!

Roborock T7 Pro is a model for the Chinese market, while the international version is Roborock S6 MaxV – both have cameras.
Roborock T7, accordingly, is a model without cameras.

    Good afternoon
We bought a Roborock T7, the Chinese version. Now it won't connect, saying we're not in China. We changed the location to China, but it doesn't help.

Are there any suggestions on how to solve this issue?
