Dreame Trouver J30: An affordable upright vacuum cleaner with all the essential attachments

In this review, I'll be looking at an affordable upright vacuum cleaner called the Dreame Trouver J30. The regular price for this vacuum is between $120 and $150, but during sales, which are frequent, the price drops below $100. This is very affordable, given the current exchange rate. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Dreame Trouver J30, highlight its pros and cons based on my test results, and then share my personal opinion. Let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Main block.
- Folding extension tube.
- Basic floor nozzle.
- Nozzle for wet cleaning.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Nozzle with turbo brush for cleaning furniture and mattresses.
- Attachment with sliding bristles.
- Nozzle holder.
- Charger.
- Operating instructions.
- A simple wall holder with fasteners.
The package is good for the price. I was pleased to see the turbo brush attachment for cleaning furniture, which is rare in this price range.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Dreame Trouver J30's design. Let's start with the main unit. It's black and blue. It houses a 450-watt motor, generating up to 24,000 Pascal of suction power.
The battery is removable. That's a plus. It has a charging port.
The vacuum cleaner is turned on and off by pressing the button located under your thumb; there's no need to hold it down. An informative display with a touch-sensitive mode selector is located on top. Three power levels are available.
The dust container bottom opens with the press of a button. It can also be completely detached from the main unit. This is a plus. The container's filtration system includes a HEPA filter, cyclone, and mesh.
Another HEPA filter is installed above the handle, so this vacuum cleaner has a good filtration system.
The extension wand deserves a special mention. It folds in the middle, making it easy to vacuum under low furniture. A very clever solution.
As for the attachments, the main floor attachment features a swivel joint. A front LED light illuminates the cleaning area. The roller attachment is easily removed after releasing the locking mechanism. No additional tools are required. The design is suitable for cleaning both hard floors and carpets thanks to its bristle inserts.
A wet cleaning module like this one attaches to the main nozzle. It's a water reservoir with a cloth attached to the bottom. The cloth is secured with Velcro. Water is supplied by gravity through two dispenser holes.
The motorized brush attachment is suitable for cleaning mattresses and upholstered furniture. The turbo brush has elastic bristle inserts. The brush head has retractable bristles, and the standard crevice tool.
All attachments are equipped with mechanical locks. Here's how to conveniently store the included attachments on the vacuum cleaner itself:
The pros and cons of this design will be discussed during the final review. Let's move on!
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Dreame Trouver J30, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Power consumption: 450 W.
- Suction power up to 24 kPa.
- Li-Ion battery 2500 mAh.
- Operating time up to 60 min.
- Dust collector capacity: 500 ml.
- Noise level 71-83 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 2.5 kg.
Only suction power and power stand out. These are high parameters for this price segment. I personally measured the vacuum cleaner's noise level. It ranges from 71 to 83 dB, depending on the selected mode. This is a higher noise level than similar products. However, this is likely due to the power, which will be verified in further tests.
The main unit weighs 1,578 grams, the extension tube weighs 383 grams, and the main floor nozzle weighs 546 grams. The fully assembled vacuum weighs 2,507 grams, which is quite standard.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Dreame Trouver J30, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the Dreame Trouver J30's battery life in Turbo mode with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed 10 minutes and 54 seconds of runtime, which is generally acceptable. The typical runtime for cordless vacuum cleaners is between 10 and 12 minutes.
Suction power
Regarding suction power, at the minimum setting, the vacuum cleaner was able to partially remove debris from crevices up to 10 mm deep on the simplest stand. At medium power, it completely cleaned a 10 mm crevice. At the same power, it was able to reach crevices up to 20 mm deep and partially reach crevices up to 30 mm deep. In Turbo mode, the vacuum cleaner even partially cleaned crevices up to 35 mm deep. So, overall, I can say that the vacuum cleaner has increased power.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the Dreame Trouver J30 picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. It picked up the bulk of that debris. It's important to note that it doesn't have a blind spot in the corner, but there's another caveat.
The nozzle isn't capable of picking up large debris like cat litter pellets because it lacks the special grooves in the front like the older models. As a result, it needs to be lifted. It's not very convenient. And if large debris gets lodged in a corner, it's difficult to remove.
Carpet cleaning
The Dreame Trouver J30 does a great job of cleaning carpets, including both carpet and medium-pile carpet, thanks to its increased power and turbo brush design.
Wet cleaning
I'll also show you how to mop floors using this vacuum cleaner and the wet mop attachment. Attach the reservoir to the main attachment and use the Dreame Trouver J30 as a mop. You can also vacuum while mopping, but it's best not to overuse the suction to prevent water from getting into the dust bin and damaging the vacuum.
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the additional attachments allow you to clean a sofa, areas the main nozzle can't reach, and even clean inside a car or under furniture, thanks to the foldable extension wand. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.
Cleaning the dust collector
Finally, I'll tell you how to clean the dust bin. Just press the button, and all the debris falls out through the bottom. If hair or fur gets stuck in the bin, you can remove the dust bin, take out the filtration system, and shake out the remaining contents without touching the debris. Convenient!
Personal opinion
The Dreame Trouver J30 cordless stick vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my thoughts. Here's what I liked:
- In reality, increased suction power.
- High-quality cleaning on various surfaces.
- Removable battery.
- Removable dust collector.
- Illumination of the cleaning area.
- A floor polisher attachment that allows you to not only vacuum, but also mop the floor.
- The presence of a nozzle with a turbo brush for cleaning furniture and mattresses, which is also rare for this price segment.
- An informative display on the case, which is rare for the budget segment.
- A collapsible extension tube that allows for convenient cleaning under low furniture.
- Good filtration system.
- You can store additional attachments directly on the tube.
- Availability of warranty and service.
- Optimal price.
Among the disadvantages I would like to highlight:
- There are problems with collecting large waste.
- Increased noise level during operation.
- There is no vertical parking outside the holder.
Overall, all the criticisms are typical for the budget price segment and aren't really critical. Therefore, for a price that drops to $100 and below during sales, this is definitely one of the best upright vacuums, if not the best. However, at prices closer to $150, it already has competitors, including those from the Dreame line. Therefore, it's important to consider the pros and cons of each model individually when comparing them.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
