Below, I'll explain in detail how the Dreame R20 Aqua works, its capabilities, and the pros and cons of this cordless vacuum, considering its $460 price tag. Let's get started!

Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Dreame R20 Aqua's design. Let's start with the main unit, which is finished in graphite. The vacuum cleaner is turned on and off by pressing the button located under your thumb.
The battery is removable, which is a plus.
All information is displayed on an informative display. Also located next to the display are two mechanical control buttons: one for switching operating modes and one for locking the power button.
There's an automatic mode and a Turbo mode. The ECO mode was removed. In automatic mode, the Dreame R20 Aqua can automatically adjust suction power depending on the type of flooring and how dirty it is. This is a plus.
The handle has a port for connecting the charger manually. I should point out upfront that there's no wireless charging cradle on the floor stand, which is a shame considering the vacuum's price. The bottom of the dust bin opens with the press of a button. The dust bin itself is removable, which is convenient. The filtration system is good: a HEPA filter, a fabric filter, a cyclone filter, and a mesh filter.
Let's look at the attachments included in the kit.
The carpet roller attachment features a swivel joint and two illuminated lights.
We also see a switch that raises the curtain in front of the roller to collect larger debris. The roller is removed from the side and is equipped with elastic short bristles, which are effective for brushing out carpets. Behind the roller, we see a comb for detangling tangled hair and fur.
The second attachment is also equipped with a backlight, but this one has a fluffy roller for cleaning hard surfaces.
Well, the polishing attachment is the same as the one released earlier. Dreame R10 Pro AquaThe swivel joint is included. The nozzle's reservoir holds up to 200 ml of water. Two water flow levels allow you to choose the optimal level for different floor types. Water is supplied to the cleaning pads through special dispensers. The pads rotate in opposite directions, effectively removing dirt and stains from the floor. A suction hole is located between the pads to collect light debris while mopping. Suction is minimal.
The attachment for cleaning furniture and mattresses is equipped with a silicone turbo brush.
A crevice tool with retractable bristles and an additional attachment are also included. There's also a bendable adapter, making it easier to clean hard-to-reach areas and under low furniture.
Let's take a closer look at the floor holder. It holds the assembled upright vacuum cleaner and the three included attachments.
Where to put the remaining attachments is a mystery. They'll probably end up lying on the floor nearby. Not very practical.
Here's what the Dreame R20 Aqua looks like assembled:
The pros and cons of the design will be highlighted when summing up the results.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the vacuum cleaner, as stated by the manufacturer, are displayed on the screen:
- Suction power up to 190 aW.
- Li-Ion battery 2900 mAh.
- Dust collector 600 ml.
- Operating time up to 90 min.
- Noise level 72-81.5 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 2.74 kg.
The specifications are identical to those of the R20 model. The noise level was personally tested and found to be between 74 and 81.5 dB, depending on the selected operating mode. With the floor polisher attachment, the noise level is approximately 72-76 dB. This vacuum cleaner's noise level is higher, but not alarming compared to more powerful alternatives.
As for weight, the main unit weighs 1,741 grams, the extension tube weighs 201 grams, and the main nozzle weighs 800 grams. The complete vacuum weighs 2,742 grams. This is a fairly standard weight for an upright vacuum. The center of gravity is strategically positioned low, preventing hand fatigue during use.
Testing
A detailed video review with all tests has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check the Dreame R20 Aqua's battery life in Turbo mode with the main carpet roller attachment attached. It managed 13 minutes and 7 seconds of runtime, which is on par with its predecessor and most similar devices.
Suction power
In terms of suction power, the Dreame R20 Aqua was able to easily vacuum debris from a 35mm gap in automatic mode. So, it's certainly a powerful upright vacuum. You might not need to use Turbo mode; the automatic power control is more than sufficient for cleaning.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the Dreame R20 Aqua picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. This machine did a good job.
It's important to note that it has no problem picking up debris along baseboards and in corners. It also easily picks up large debris, such as cat litter pellets. Hair and fur don't get caught in the roller. All debris is collected in the dust bin.
Carpet cleaning
I used the carpet roller attachment to clean the carpets. The Dreame R20 Aqua cleans both low- and medium-pile carpets very well. The roller also came out clean after testing. That's a plus.
Removing stains
I also tested the effectiveness of the floor polisher attachment. It even removed stubborn stains like dried-on coffee and sauce stains. It took about 3 minutes. By comparison, specialized upright washing vacuum cleaners complete the same task in an average of 5 minutes. However, washing vacuum cleaners are much more effective in this regard, as they self-clean during use and don't leave streaks. With this floor polisher attachment, the pads become clogged with dirt and rub it across the floor. You'll need to remove them, wash them, and then replace them several times during cleaning.
However, if the floor isn't "neglected," I think that with regular cleaning, washing these wipes a couple of times per cleaning session will be sufficient. I think for some, this solution is still optimal and more convenient than using dedicated wet/dry vacuum cleaners.
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the complete kit allows you to clean a sofa, areas beyond the reach of the main nozzle, and even the inside of a car if necessary. In short, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications. It's as versatile as a Swiss Army knife, but for cleaning, not cutting!
Cleaning the dust collector
Finally, a few words about cleaning the dust bin. It's quite simple: press a button, and debris falls out through the bottom. However, if hair and fur decide to go on strike and get stuck in the bin, don't worry. The dust bin can be completely removed, the filtration system removed, and debris thoroughly shaken out. It's all done effortlessly and very conveniently.
Personal opinion
The Dreame R20 Aqua upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. Like all Dreame products, it left a largely positive impression. Based on my experience with it and testing it, I can highlight the following pros and cons.
I liked the following:
- High suction power.
- High-quality waste collection on any surface.
- Automatic power increase function.
- Illumination of the cleaning area in two attachments.
- The included mopping attachment allows you to vacuum and wet clean with just one vacuum cleaner, even removing tough stains.
- Informative display on the body.
- Removable battery.
- Removable dust container. Easy to empty and keep the flask clean.
- Stylish design.
- Ergonomic design. The vacuum cleaner is convenient to use with one hand.
- High quality assembly.
- A complete set of attachments, including two rollers with different structures for different floor coverings.
- Good filtration system.
- Availability of warranty and service.
Among the disadvantages I would highlight:
- There is no wireless charging on the floor holder.
- The holder doesn't accommodate all the included attachments. It's unclear where to put the rest.
- There is no vertical parking so that you can park the vacuum cleaner while cleaning and focus on other things.
- High price. Compared to the usual R20The vacuum cleaner is $60 more expensive even on the official website. Overall, $460 is a bit much.
Overall, the Dreame R20 Aqua left mostly positive reviews. I'm very impressed with its appearance and high-quality build. The main nozzle has no blind spots, does an excellent job of picking up debris, and illuminates the cleaning area with a soft blue glow. Plus, it boasts high power and a well-designed assembly. So, I have no reason not to recommend it, as I found no major flaws overall.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
