Lydsto H3: A VERY affordable upright vacuum cleaner from Xiaomi for just $50

This review will examine a very affordable upright vacuum cleaner called the Lydsto H3. It's priced between $40 and $65, or $40 and $65 at the exchange rate at the time of writing. It's cordless and comes with additional attachments for spot cleaning. Next, I'll test the Lydsto H3, show you what it's capable of for the price, and then express my opinion on whether it's worth buying. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Main block.
- Extension tube.
- Floor nozzle.
- USB Type-C charging cable.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Nozzle with bristles.
- A set of 5 disposable bags, one of which is already installed inside the vacuum cleaner.
- Operating instructions.
Surprisingly, for this price, there are even additional attachments, albeit basic ones, but still. That's a plus!
Appearance
Let's take a look at the Lydsto H3's design. Let's start with the main unit. The handle is comfortable, albeit unusually designed. The vacuum cleaner can be hung on a hook if needed, which might be useful for some users. It's an alternative to the wall mount, which isn't included. The body has a single button, which turns the vacuum cleaner on and switches modes. There are only two modes: standard and maximum power. Next to the manufacturer's information is a Type-C port for charging.
Pressing the latch on the front opens the lid. A disposable paper bag is located underneath. The entire area where the bag is installed is removable. A foam filter is installed in front of the motor. A HEPA filter is not included, but that's to be expected for this price. The battery is non-removable, which is also not a deal-breaker for such a budget model.
Regarding the included attachments, the main attachment features a swivel joint. Dirt collection is accomplished through direct suction through the nozzle; there is no turbo brush.
The additional attachments are very simple, but they will nevertheless help you clean furniture or get into shallow cracks.
The vacuum cleaner is assembled by snapping the parts together. There are no fasteners. We can see that the design is as budget-friendly as possible, but the build quality and materials don't feel cheap.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of Lydsto H3, as declared by the manufacturer:
- Power consumption 120 W.
- Suction power up to 16 kPa.
- Li-Ion battery 2000 mAh.
- Dust collector 350 ml.
- Working time 12-20 min.
- Noise level 66-71.5 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 0.9 kg.
Again, given the price, it's hard to criticize this cordless vacuum. On the contrary, I was surprised by the standard battery capacity, comparable to models priced at $100-$150, and the suction power was stronger than I expected when I first picked it up.
I measured the noise level myself. It ranged from 66 to 71.5 dB, which is not loud compared to more expensive models.
The vacuum cleaner is also quite lightweight. The main unit weighs 552 grams, the extension tube 122 grams, and the main floor nozzle 211 grams. In total, the Lydsto H3 weighs 885 grams when fully assembled. It's very lightweight, which may be a significant factor for some.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Lydsto H3, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the Lydsto H3's battery life in Turbo mode. It managed 12 minutes and 11 seconds, which is a pretty standard result. And remember, in Standard mode, the vacuum cleaner can run for up to 20 minutes. I think the runtime is impressive for such a budget-friendly price.
Suction power
However, the suction power was weak. In standard mode, the vacuum cleaner could only vacuum debris from a 2 mm gap, like most of the robot vacuums we reviewed. At maximum power, the Lydsto H3 could vacuum debris from an 8 mm deep gap. It was unable to clean a 10 mm deep gap. This power is sufficient for hard floors, but if you want to clean carpets or thoroughly clean upholstery, the Lydsto H3 may not be powerful enough.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the Lydsto H3 picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. The vacuum cleaner was able to pick up all the debris, but there's a small blind spot in the corner where it can't vacuum. This is worth keeping in mind.
Thanks to the absence of a turbo brush, hair and fur do not get tangled up, but are immediately directed into the bag through the suction channel.
Carpet cleaning
But the lack of a turbo brush is precisely the reason this model has a drawback: the Lydsto H3 doesn't clean carpets well, as it simply has nothing to clean them with.
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the included attachments allow you to clean upholstered furniture, clean areas that the main attachment can't reach, and even clean your car's interior if necessary.
Cleaning the dust collector
As for emptying the dust container, since there's no cyclone, the debris simply collects in a bag. When the bag is full, you simply throw it away and install a new one. This is a questionable decision, and I'll explain why later.
Personal opinion
The Lydsto H3 cordless stick vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. It's difficult to objectively evaluate this model simply because its price is comparable to the cost of just the battery for a standard stick vacuum. Many of the criticisms leveled at $100-$150 models simply aren't true for this model. For example, the lack of a HEPA filter, removable battery, or display. Nevertheless, there are pros and cons that I would still consider important.
Among the advantages I would like to highlight:
- Budget price.
- Wireless design.
- Light weight.
- Compact dimensions.
- Capacious battery and therefore long operating time.
- Additional attachments included.
- Charging via Type-C and its compact size make this vacuum cleaner suitable as a car vacuum cleaner.
As for comments, I didn't like the following, even despite the price:
- There is no turbo brush, which is why the vacuum cleaner does not clean carpets well.
- Weak power.
- Unable to collect debris in corners.
- Collecting waste in disposable bags.
I'll dwell on this last point in detail, as it's the most significant for me personally. Using disposable bags isn't a very cost-effective solution, as AliExpress offers 10 bags for $14.80 at the time of writing, and 100 bags for $59.40, which is about the same price as a new vacuum cleaner. Overall, this isn't a concern for everyone. A cyclone filter with a mesh filter would be better, allowing you to shake out debris and rinse the flask and filtration system with water.
But for under $50, the fact that it's a cordless vacuum is a big plus. It's convenient, well-built, and the brand is quite well-known. For those who don't know, Lydsto is a sub-brand of Xiaomi and has released a fair number of robot vacuums and upright vacuums over the past few years. So, they have some experience, and reviews of their products are mostly positive.
If you're looking for a budget upright vacuum and don't have carpeted floors, you can safely consider this model. This is especially true if your robot vacuum handles most of the cleaning and you need the upright vacuum to provide localized assistance in areas it can't reach. This will ensure the disposable bags last a long time.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
