Atvel R70: A budget robot vacuum cleaner with a gyroscope and wet cleaning.

Atvel R70Atvel R70

The budget robot vacuum cleaner Atvel R70 is a junior version of the popular Atvel Smartgyro R80, which I also reviewed previously. This new product, priced at $120 (about $175 at the exchange rate at the time of writing), boasts both dry and wet cleaning functions and can be controlled not only by the remote control but also via a smartphone app. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Atvel R70, after which I'll share my opinion on when it's worth considering. I'll also share some exciting news at the end of the review: you can get one completely free, so read on! Let's get started!

Equipment

The robot vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:

The package is good. It would be great if the manufacturer included a spare HEPA filter with the robot. Then we'd have all the accessories for the first few days of using the robot. But as it is, it's very good!

Appearance

Let's take a look at the Atvel R70's design. It's finished in graphite and has a round body. Navigation is handled by a gyroscope mounted inside the body. The robot's height is approximately 75 mm above the floor.

A mechanical bumper is installed at the front. The control panel features a Wi-Fi connection indicator and two mechanical control buttons. The dust container is located under the top cover. The filtration system uses a HEPA-10 filter and a mesh filter. The container holds up to 400 ml of dry waste.

A separate 250 ml water tank is mounted at the rear. Electronic water flow control is a plus.

The robot's underside is equipped with two side brushes, three fall protection sensors, and a central brush. The turbo brush is a non-detachable, petal-shaped bristle brush. The cleaning cloth holder is attached to the robot by two mechanical fasteners. Water flows to the cleaning cloth through three openings.

Overall, the Atvel R70's design matches its price, but at least there are no criticisms to be made.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of the Atvel R70, as declared by the manufacturer:

  • Li-Ion battery 2000 mAh.
  • Suction power up to 2200 Pa.
  • Operating time up to 120 min.
  • Cleaning area up to 80 sq.m.
  • Dust collector 400 ml.
  • Water tank 250 ml.
  • Passability of obstacles up to 15 mm.
  • Dimensions: 335*78 mm.

Again, the characteristics are standard for the price and navigation of the robot.

Functional capabilities

Speaking of the Atvel R70's capabilities, the robot vacuum cleaner can be controlled via the Tuya app. Connecting the robot is easy, just follow the manufacturer's instructions.

It's important to note that the robot doesn't create a map in the app. Features include starting/stopping the cleaning process, forced return to the charging base, manual control, two additional modes (local and perimeter), a cleaning log, a choice of two power levels, smooth adjustment of the cleaning cloth's wetting level, and scheduled cleaning. These features are sufficient for automatically maintaining cleanliness in a small home.

The remote control duplicates almost all the same functions, which is convenient if you can’t connect the robot vacuum cleaner to a Wi-Fi network.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Atvel R70, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Navigation

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the Atvel R70's navigation in a room with obstacles. Since it doesn't create a map, I'll describe the situation myself. In the room with obstacles, the robot cleaned the entire area in a serpentine pattern, then around the perimeter. It didn't get stuck on the dryer. It didn't leave any additional debris around the box or chair legs, which is typical for almost all robots. robots with a gyroscope for navigationAfter cleaning, it automatically returned to charging and found the base without any problems.

Regarding navigation within the house, the robot also cleans the entire area in a serpentine pattern, then makes a perimeter check and returns to the base. The battery charge was enough for cleaning 70 square meters. Small, uncleared areas can remain in difficult spots, for example, under chair legs and, surprisingly, behind curtains. For some reason, the robot doesn't push through them, but carefully navigates around them, sometimes bumping into baseboards rather than gently. Overall, however, there are no major complaints about the gyroscope. The navigation is standard.

Suction power

The suction power is also standard. The Atvel R70 was able to suck up debris from a 2 mm deep crevice. This is more than enough to automatically keep your home clean, especially if you don't have carpets or low-pile carpets.

Dry cleaning

The quality of debris collection on laminate flooring also left no doubts. The robot was able to pick up debris of various textures, leaving only a small amount in the corners, which is typical of almost all round robots. Some hair and pet hair got tangled in the central brush, but the bulk of the debris was still collected in the dust bin. The test passes.

Carpet cleaning

However, the Atvel R70 didn't clean my medium-pile carpet very well. This is due to its low suction power and, most likely, the non-floating center brush unit. Therefore, good dust collection can only be expected on low-pile carpets.

Wet cleaning

I was impressed with the wet cleaning performance. Not only can the Atvel R70 vacuum and mop the floor simultaneously, it also handles light stains with flying colors. A narrow strip along the baseboard remained unwashed, but then again, this is a weak point of all the robot vacuums we reviewed.

Wet cleaning

In any case, the robot thoroughly wets the cloth, leaving an even wet mark on the floor. Test passed!

Obstacle clearance

The obstacle clearance also left a good impression. Despite the manufacturer's stated clearance of 15 mm, the Atvel R70 managed to clear a 2 cm threshold. That's a plus!

Driving on black surfaces

However, the robot vacuum cleaner is wary of black surfaces, recognizing them by their height differences. This is important to keep in mind.

Noise level

Finally, we measured the Atvel R70's noise level in different modes. In standard mode, the noise level was between 62-63 dB, and at maximum power, the peak was 64 dB. There were slight noise spikes when hitting furniture and baseboards, but overall, the robot vacuum isn't overly noisy, which is another plus.

Personal opinion

The Atvel R70 has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 69 pointsConsidering the price and navigation, the result is not bad.

Overall rating of tested robots: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html.

I'll share my impressions of the model. I liked the following:

  1. Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
  2. Good cleaning quality on hard surfaces.
  3. Control via app and remote control.
  4. The kit includes spare consumables.
  5. Good cross-country ability.
  6. Low noise level.
  7. Availability of warranty and service.

Speaking of criticism, I'll highlight the main ones, comparing them to gyroscopic analogs. I didn't like the following:

  1. Doesn't build a map.
  2. Doesn't clean behind the curtains.
  3. Doesn't clean medium pile carpets well.
  4. Afraid of black coatings.

Therefore, I would recommend this robot for cleaning hard floors and small spaces—say, no more than 60-70 square meters. In this case, even on a limited budget, you can make your daily cleaning a little easier and experience the technology of automatic home cleaning.

And, as promised, some good news for the attentive audience: soon, in collaboration with Atvel, we'll be giving away this robot vacuum cleaner among our subscribers. We plan to give it away to the lucky winner by March 8th. Perhaps you'd be interested in this gift for yourself or a loved one. I'll be publishing a separate video with the terms and conditions soon.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
