In this review, we'll take a look at the new 2020 product from Haier, a rapidly growing manufacturer. The HB-QT51S robot vacuum cleaner is designed for both dry and wet cleaning. The robot features room mapping, a high-performance dual-core chip, three-stage power control, and app control via a smartphone. Despite its high specifications and features, the Haier HB-QT51S is quite affordable at around $120. At first glance, it seems like a budget-friendly technological marvel, but we'll explore whether that's really the case.

Equipment

The robot and its components are packaged in two boxes: an outer protective box and an inner box with a convenient plastic handle. Inside the box, the components are separated and placed in plastic bags in separate compartments of a foam tray.

The Haier HB-QT51S package includes:

  1. Robot vacuum cleaner.
  2. Charging station.
  3. Network power adapter.
  4. Remote control (+ batteries).
  5. Set of spare side brushes.
  6. Water tank.
  7. Microfiber cloth (main + replaceable).
  8. Cleaning tool.
  9. Operating instructions.

The device also comes pre-installed with a solid waste container with filters, side brushes, a turbo brush, and a rechargeable battery. These are already installed in the robot.

Appearance

The Haier HB-QT51S robot vacuum cleaner boasts a stylish and modern design. Its body, shaped like a thin puck, is almost perfectly round when viewed from above, save for the slightly protruding spring-loaded bumper. The color chosen for the device is an elegant silver. The front panel is minimalist: it features a single button to start the vacuum cleaner and the company logo.

Design

The front of the robot features a soft-touch bumper, while the rear houses exhaust ports, a power switch, and a socket for directly connecting the power adapter. The dust container can also be removed from the side at the touch of a button for emptying and replacing it with a cleaning module.

On the back of the Haier HB-QT51S are the drive wheels, front support roller, charging contacts, battery compartment, two side brushes, and the main brush in the center.

Functional capabilities

An updated planning system and dual-core chip allow the robot vacuum to cover up to 95% of the room without deviating from its route, colliding with surrounding obstacles, or missing cleaning zones. The chip enables the Haier HB-QT51S to more accurately perceive and analyze the working space. It's also worth noting that, in addition to anti-collision and anti-fall sensors, the robot is equipped with a gyroscope.

As for the cleaning process itself, the robot vacuum cleaner is capable of cleaning both smooth floors and low-pile carpets. Cleaning is accomplished with a main turbo brush and auxiliary side brushes. A suction force of 1800 Pa, combined with a dual-sided turbo brush, easily handles dirt, dust, small particles, and even larger debris.

The collected debris is collected in a 450-milliliter dust container and stored there until emptied. The container is equipped with a HEPA filter for additional filtration and capture of fine dirt and dust particles.

What operating modes are available in the Haier HB-QT51S robot?

  • planning – movement without deviating from the route;
  • Edge cleaning – the robot vacuum cleaner cleans the floor around the perimeter of the rooms, including areas in the corners;
  • double – cleaning old and ingrained dirt;
  • scheduled – automatic start of the device with one click in accordance with the configured schedule;
  • changing suction modes – choosing one of two cleaning intensity modes;
  • soundless.

The Haier HB-QT51S also features wet cleaning. To do this, install a water tank in place of the solid waste container. A cloth is attached to the bottom of the tank, which is automatically moistened during operation.

The robot vacuum cleaner comes with a remote control, and can also be started using a button on the body. For convenient control, the TUYA mobile app is also available for smartphones, as well as Alexa and Google Home voice assistants.

Advantages and disadvantages

In conclusion of the review, we note that the robot vacuum cleaner overall makes a pleasant impression, especially considering its low price.

Let's highlight the main advantages of the Haier HB-QT51S in a separate list:

  1. Optimal price/functionality ratio.
  2. Compact dimensions.
  3. Good suction power + its regulation.
  4. Map construction.
  5. Gyroscope for navigation.
  6. Several operating modes.
  7. Wet cleaning.
  8. Control via application.
  9. Working with voice assistants.

One downside is the lack of a motion limiter included. Otherwise, this is a great option for the price.

Finally, we recommend watching a video review of the Haier HB-QT51S, as well as its comparison with the iLife V50 Pro:

    a...uh...being the owner of this "miracle" I am shocked by this review!
    +
    1. Yes, the battery is fine, it cleans for at least 120 minutes, and at low power it runs for 160 minutes (subjectively).
    2. Yes, there is a turbo brush, it collects wool, hair, etc. BUT the same hair clogs the bearing of this brush, cleaning it is a pain.
    3. Yes, the container washes the floor without control, but the puddle does not flow.

    Well, now what's not in this dust:
    1. The remote control offers auto and edge cleaning modes. The app also includes a spiral mode (manual control), and both have power adjustments. There are no dual modes, let alone "planning – moving without deviation from the route"! It automatically switches to "auto" for cleaning algorithms like straight or zigzag.
    2. Mapping is purely a marketing ploy; the map is created anew each time and is not analyzed—meaning the apartment looks different every time you clean it, and the dust goes wherever it wants.
    3. The only mode that works correctly (IMHO) is edge cleaning - the duster quickly runs along the walls of the entire apartment with one side; in the auto mode, as I already wrote above, it drives randomly wherever it wants.
    4. When installing the floor cleaning container, only the cleaning mode is available - similar to the auto mode for dry cleaning.
    5. He speaks English, but I don’t understand what dialect he uses.

    After purchasing it, I was quite happy, but after two months it suddenly went nuts - it says something about "sensor clearing" and starts moving backwards and crashes. I obviously wiped the accessible sensors - it didn't help. Service is only available in Moscow, shipping at your own expense.

      Read my comment. I had the same problem. The collision sensor lever spring broke. I put some self-adhesive furniture rubber under the lever, the kind used on furniture doors to soften the door when closing. The spring is of Chinese quality. If you search, I think you can find a similar one at a watch repair shop. But for me, the rubber spring also works when spinning.

    This model arrived damaged: a crack in the central brush drive was immediately and unnoticeable. The device reported a message stating that it stopped immediately after turning on, "Brush failure error!" I turned the dust collector over, and the central brush wouldn't turn at all; it was jammed. Now the dust collector is frozen: the button glows blue and that's it. Turning it on and off doesn't change anything, and there's no Wi-Fi signal. The service department is ignoring me, there's no warranty repair, nothing at all.

    Hello! I also own this amazing piece of technology, the HB-QT51S PRO. I unpacked it, charged it, connected it to the app, and everything was fine. However, it keeps giving me an "off the ground" error and it's not working. Who knows what it needs? It's already causing problems. It needs a new vacuum cleaner!

    What are the typical problems? I have the HB-QT51S model, not the Pro. I've been using it for 10 months. Overall, I'm happy with everything; it works fine and covers the entire area with one and a half passes. It collects a lot of dust and small debris, despite operating every other day. It often loses network connection in the app and then suddenly finds it again. The battery lasts for 80 square meters with plenty of power left over for a damp wipe of a couple of rooms. However, recently it started muttering about a problem with the collision sensor. However, the cause of the problem is the quality of the materials. It turned out to be the spring in the rocker arm/lever that pushes it against the bumper and the other side against the sensor. I couldn't find a replacement anywhere; I'd probably need to take it to a watch repair specialist. I inserted a rubber furniture seal with self-adhesive adhesive under the lever, right under the base of the lever. The lever became stuck against the sensor and released when pressed. Not as good as the working second lever, of course, but there's some play in the spin cycle. I reassembled it and it works fine. Be aware of this issue. The quality of Chinese products has advanced significantly in terms of technology, but the quality of the materials remains Chinese.

    I own this vacuum, why is it so noisy? Everything is clean, but this noise is terrifying throughout the house.
